Please, discuss!
For starters, let's sort out what characters people would like to play. The scenario is for levels 3-7. We currently have four players, and I'm fine to just run with that, but if there are people anyone would like to invite, we can easily accommodate one or two more.
I don't usually give previews like this, but there is a fun arcane familiar option on the chronicle if that affects anyone's character choice.

Hi all!
I was hoping to play Kipper here, my vexing dodger UC rogue. But, I also have a level 3 kitsune swashbuckler if folks want to play lower. However, I've only played in 1-3 tier pbp, so I was really wanting to play something higher. I do wish I had a character in tier who could take advantage of that boon...
I'd kind of like to add one more player, so we have at least 5. Chris, is there anyone I can invite who you haven't reached out to?
I've yet to play Kipper in a pbp, so I'll have to get a proper profile set up for him.
Looking forward to the game!

DM Khel |

What level is Kipper?
I agree that it would be good to have at least five, and I haven’t invited anyone beyond the four who have confirmed. They are my son Simon, Doug, Oladon, and Trex (latter two are folks I know from many PbP games who are great players).

DM Khel |

Kipper is 6. Actually you just played with Kipper the other night at Victory Point.
Yes, I remember him fondly, I just didn’t recall exactly what level he was.

Hi Fiasko and Simeon!
With Zirt being a gnome (Prankster bard) she's often mocking her enemies instead of inspiring her allies, so I wouldn't rule out having another bard in the party on her account.

GMTrex |

Hi folks!
For high-tier, I have an awful 6th level warpriest, who I might use a rebuild boon on. This may or may not result in having instead a L6 wizard or thief or barbarian or... who knows.
For low-tier, I have a bunch of good options. L3 know-it-all bard, L3 cleric of Sarenrae, or L4 "cleric" of Aroden.
Sounds like we are maybe leaning towards high-tier?

DM Khel |

Hey Trex! Yeah, it looks like we're leaning towards high tier, for a couple of reasons.
Given that, we have:
Doug: Alchemist 6 or URogue 6
Trex: Warpriest 6 who could become anything at any moment
Simeon: Rakhshara - summoner 7
Oladon: Zirt - bard 6
That puts us pretty neatly in high tier if everyone is good with that plan. If you feel you know what character you'll play (even if the character may get rebuilt before we dive in), go ahead and dot in the gameplay thread so the game shows up on your Campaigns tab.
Now, who else shall we invite to play with us? I'd love to get suggestions from you all first off, since I do like a curated game, but we can easily get 1-2 more players for this game with a moment of recruiting in the Flaxseed Lodge.
And while we're thinking about it, shall we go with 5 or 6 players?

![]() |

Hi all! GMTrex pointed me to this thread, and I'd be happy to join in whatever shenanigans you're up to here. Given the party makeup, I figure my 7th level Barbarian (Mad Dog, Urban) would be a reasonable fit.

DM Khel |

Welcome, Gavin! Nice to meet you and glad Trex pointed you in this direction. I’ve got one other invite out, and we’ll see where that takes us. I’m aiming to get us going next week some time.

DM Khel |

The person I invited won't be joining us, so we can go with five or invite another. I can go either way, any opinions on the matter?

![]() |

I'm fine either way. 6 is ideal mechanically (since we'll be high tier without 4-player adjustment regardless), but I don't mind it being a bit tougher.

GMTrex |

I can happily furnish a sixth if there are no objections.

![]() |

Alright, I have rebuilt my warpriest into... a warpriest!
(Trex here.)
I did switch diety, blessings, weapon, feats, skills, and pretty much everything else except the name, but still a warpriest! Hopefully effectiveness got a boost too.
Also, I have recruited a sixth who should be posting here soon.

DM Khel |

Welcome, Chris! Glad to have you aboard.
Are you new to Play-by-Post? I ask because this appears to be your first post on the Paizo boards. I'm happy to have a new PbP'er in the game, I'm just asking so I know what to expect and can nudge you in the right direction if necessary. In case you're looking for such a thing, there's a very useful guide to getting started in PbP here. (I recommend everyone who hasn't already done so to check out the various Painlord guides to PbP, which can be found at that link.)
As you may know, you'll need to make an alias for Bodo to post as him, and I generally make one for my animal companion as well. Once you have an alias, you can use it to post in the gameplay thread, so this game shows up on your Campaigns page. You can post a single character or a full intro like Trex did.
I'll get our starting post up later today!

DM Khel |

Ye gods, it looks like you've got a menagerie traveling with you!
Zirt, Bodo and Gavin all have animal companions, and Rakshara has an eidolon. So (summoned creatures aside...), we've got a party of ten. Yoiks!
I'll need avatars for everyone, to put on the map (which is linked under my name, where it says 'Deepmarket'). I generally just use the avatar under your alias, so please be sure you have one for yourself and your beastly companions. Alternatively, just drop whatever pic you would like to use onto the first page of the map slides.

![]() |

Oh crap! Yeah, sorry about that. If it helps keep the confusion down, I can have the dog kind of fade into the background, combat-wise. I doubt we're going to lack for combat effectiveness.

DM Khel |

Not a problem, we'll make it work. Since the early bit of the adventure is a disguise-and-infiltrate thing, it might make sense to have fewer animals along, but I don't want to mess with character builds or hamper opportunities for fun role play based on all these pets.

DM Khel |

Bodo - can you post in the gameplay thread? It looks like you saw my message about needing avatars, since there's a spear-wielding gnome and a toothy croc on the map page. Please join us in gameplay so we can begin the journey to Undermarket!
Also, would Zirt and Rakshara please put tokens for their animal and eidolon respectively on the first map slide?

DM Khel |

Well played, all.
I agree completely! I was chatting with Zirt earlier today and remarking how fun this group is already.
DM Khel - I am very, very sorry.
I take this to be meant tongue in cheek - at least I hope so. If we were at a table with a 4-hour time slot and we had to manage the actions of 10 or 11 characters and beasties on the players' side, it'd be a tough thing to manage. With PbP, as long as everyone keeps up this posting rate, we'll move along at a good clip and, by all appearances, have a great time in the process.
You guys may steamroll (or stampede) the combats, but there are many ways to have fun in Pathfinder besides tough fights.

I literally lol'd at this.

I'm pleased to hear it!

I didn't realize that Bodo was so up tight. I believe he's actually embarrassed. That or he has a crush on the VC. Not sure yet.
y'all are cracking me up.

DM Khel |

I always enjoy when a character's personality is built up over the course of his career, based on how he reacts to different circumstances - like, for example, a menagerie of beasts at a formal tea ceremony.

DM Khel |

In case y'all haven't heard, the venture agents for online play have just announced the first running of OutPost, an online con! There will be boon support, lots of older scenarios that don't make in into PbP much, and plenty of Scarab Sages action for folks in that faction as it prepares to go into retirement.
I've signed up to run Voice in the Void, a fun foray into the Blakros Museum, if anyone wants to join that game. Outpost doesn't begin until March 5, so we should be done with this game around that time, if you'd like to keep some or all of the same party together (though why they'd allow so many animals into the museum is beyond me...). There's a link to the sign-up page on that announcement I linked, check it out!

DM Khel |

I would have declared a full-attack, so no move, but I will take a 5-foot.
That's reasonable.

DM Khel |

Well, we're just about done with this scenario.
Please post PFS #, faction, and day job info here.

Hmm, I hadn't understood that. Technically, you're only supposed to be able to replay for no credit if we wouldn't have had enough players to make a legal table - and with all the characters and their animals, it seems like we could have had two or three legal tables with this group. Having said that, I'm okay with giving you a chronicle, but it won't have "gold, Prestige Points, Fame, XP, boons, item access, or any other benefits or disadvantages" as it says in the PFS guide. So I'm not sure what good it'll do you. Let me know what you'd like me to do.
Also, I'm glad you enjoyed the game, it was a lot of fun having you be part of it!

DM Khel |

Igdethun - that roll is even worse than the Profession (merchant) check I made for your disguise!

DM Khel |

Waiting on day job and PFS info from Rakshara, Zirt and Bodo. I know Rakshara is going slow track, to get as much mileage as possible out of his tiefling chained summoner - anyone else going slow track?
