If Sko actually passed out his winnings to sway the favor of the crew - this may go a long way to help with Variel's actions. However - I'm not sure if that happened or not.
Also - quick question for the GM via Private Message...

DM Immortal |

@Dhaavan The tall Mwangi woman looks at you with disdain for a moment before saying They don't do it too often but occasionally. You all are the newest and therefore the easiest targets for their attentions I would say is the main reason why you are being bullied. My name is Shivikah. As she talks she looks you over again and a slow smile begins creeping its way across her face. She seems to warm up to you quickly after the initial brusqueness. Eyeing you up and down, she says Now you are just pretty enough to eat, aren't you. You want to go below and get better acquainted? She leers at you with a set of bright white teeth and an almost predatory gleam to her eye.
Attitude improved from Unfriendly to Friendly. Damn you and your ridiculous diplomacy! lol.

DM Immortal |

@Sko: You approach Fishguts and he says You can put it in your footlocker I would say. I mean I'd be happy to hold onto it for you or you could use it to buy something from Grok so you'll have a more tangible item instead of loose gold but that's up to you my boy. Well done in the fight by the way! I won meself an extra ration of grog for the next week off o'bettin on ye! Smiling, he goes back to drinking.

DM Immortal |

@Variel Badger at first tries to fend you off but then finally relents and lets you take her for a spin around the deck. She eventually gets into it and begins to teach you a complicated dance with lots of intricate footwork and quick leaps. Once done she sits down laughing and says I haven't danced like that in years! Thank you for making an older woman feel young again, Variel. She goes over to the group with you and smiles politely as you introduce her.

Sko |

Sko manages a weak smile for Fishgut. "Thanks, but I think I have a better idea. Take the gold and when you pass out tomorrows rum ration, distribute the gold along with it. Include Maheen and those other idiots as well."
"In fact," Sko thinks a moment, "give them twice as much as everyone else, make sure they know where it came from and thank them, loudly, for the brawling lesson the other day which gave me the tip I needed to beat Plugg's brawler."
"Now I need some sleep." Sko will go to bed if not interupted.

Dancing with leaps on stage ws one thing. Performing that type of a dance on the deck of a rolling ship was another. Variel was happily surprised at the new dance from Badger. It was definitely a change from the usual dances he ws used to. in elven: that was extraordinary. Making those leaps on the deck of a ship is quite the accomplishment. Thank you for the experience and the lesson. It is always a blessing to learn a new dance from one so light on her feet. I must say that this crew is growing on me the more I get to know all of you.

Seijiro |

After playing for Variel and his partner dancing, Seijiro goes off by himself for a while, not speaking to anyone. He sits with his knees up to his chest and his arms crossed, elbows resting on his knees and looking out to sea, a deep scowl on his face.

Rain Taneththir |

Rain stands to the side, silently watching Variel turn and spin the older half-elven female in a style of dance she had not seen before. How is it that men can go from brawling to dancing without batting an eye ....

Rain Taneththir |

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Stealth (to dispose of rum):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
During the music and dancing, Rain observed the crew and then discreetly disposed of the evening's rum ration, as she dared not drink it lest it play havoc with her rather tenuous self-control. It does not seem to do too much damage to my fellow male companions but they do not seem to possess the same fire I keep hidden just below the surface.... She is almost secure in the knowledge that no one saw her tip the rum out.
Rain does not speak to anyone during the course of the night, keeping to herself and out of trouble.
She moves to the railing and looks out to sea and then up at the night skies. She says a few silent prayers to any godly ears listening, especially Gozreh and Besmara.
She then heads below deck to find her bunk and sleep. There had to be a way to stop Plugg. But it would not be tonight. She had to be patient.
Nighttime action: Sleep

Dhaavan |

Diplomacy DC10+cha mod
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Keep talking to gauge a few things, but keep her interested and show his.
Bluff: secret message DC: 15
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Innuendo, lots of innuendo, simple but just subtle enough that he's not making any promises?
Sense Motive
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Gauge wether turning her down would be a worse move than not in terms of future consequences. He wants her on his side, and staying friendly, but doesn't want to get in a position where he pisses her off by being the bastard that he is. This look like a simple thing, having some fun? Yeah?
It's a pain playing a character with so much more game than i've got. I don't always know what he's supposed to say! But here goes...
Dhaavan cracks a wicked grin and lifts an eyebrow, "Direct!" he chuckles. "Well, desert's always nice. If ya don't mind me sayin, yea look fair tasty yerself."
He leans in close and whispers in her ear, "I may look like an easy target, but I ain't. 's cause i just got here that nobody knows better." Leaning back gives her a smile, with a fierce fire burning in his eye that rivals the huntress's leering. "Wouldn't be no fun if I were, tho, and as it stands..."
He chats with her for a little bit, till he gets a sense of what's she's really going to be looking for and expecting, making subtle hints, having a bit of fun with the banter, keeping her predatory side interested with just enough of a challenge without becoming frustrating, and keeping close making some physical contact... or whatever he should do with her, he'd know he's better at this than i am... (he wants to talk fast tho, so it doesn't get too late)
[ooc]So with those rolls, looks like he meets the Diplomacy DC for say a simple request, and Bluff check to maintain interest with simple innuendo and double meaning. THat sense motive I should hope got me a good estimate of wether she'd even secretly want more than a fling, of if it's plain and simple on the surface. (if it's the former i'll figure something out, but if its the latter, he'll get to know her below decks.)

DM Immortal |

Sko manages a weak smile for Fishgut. "Thanks, but I think I have a better idea. Take the gold and when you pass out tomorrows rum ration, distribute the gold along with it. Include Maheen and those other idiots as well."
"In fact," Sko thinks a moment, "give them twice as much as everyone else, make sure they know where it came from and thank them, loudly, for the brawling lesson the other day which gave me the tip I needed to beat Plugg's brawler."
Fishguts shrugs his shoulders and says Ok, it's your money I guess, so you can do with it as you like. I will say I'm not sure how far that will go towards buyin any good intentions towards ye all. After all remember the pirate motto, "Take what ye can and give nothin back." At best ye might confuse the silly sods for a while with your generosity. I suppose a few gold be worth it to see them scratch their mangy heads a bit. He finishes with a lopsided wink and a grin and goes to do as you instructed.
The crew members look confused at first but then start laughing and pocket the gold. Whether the laughter is directed at you is unclear.

DM Immortal |

It is always a blessing to learn a new dance from one so light on her feet.
Badger looks at you, her chest heaving from the exertion and says The pleasure was mine Variel, though I think maybe that dance is a younger woman's game. I need a drink I'd say. She gives you a quick elven salute that is given between friends and heads off to Fishguts to try to weasel and extra ration of grog out of him.

DM Immortal |

He sits with his knees up to his chest and his arms crossed, elbows resting on his knees and looking out to sea, a deep scowl on his face.
@Seijiro After a while staring out to sea, the fiery red-headed Sandara Quinn comes and sits beside you. Sitting with you she doesn't say anything for a little while before turning to look over at you. You know I have always found that those that go off and sit by themselves are actually those that most wish to talk about what is bothering them. It is those that hide their misery by engaging in meaningless social interactions that truly don't wish their feelings known. As you are sitting over here by yourself, I take it that you are on the ship sailing towards the former. In which case I ask, what is bothering you, besides the obvious being press ganged by a group of murderous thugs I mean, Seijiro? She finishes with a dazzling smile and waits for your response.

DM Immortal |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

You have mostly normal dreams as you sleep except for one in which you are aboard the Wormwood and then aboard another ship an instant later. Both have Plugg on them but when you are on the unfamiliar ship, he seems somehow...less...not as intimidating...as he is on the Wormwood.

DM Immortal |

@Dhaavan Shivikah looks at you and you get the sudden disturbing image of a panther stalking her prey. Smiling those white teeth, she says That's alright I like the chase, my little piglet. You can run but you cannot hide from me...after all there aren't many places to hide on a ship like this now is there? She winks at you again and you chat back and forth for a while, sparring verbally a bit. Shivikah is a powerfully built woman and Mwangi through and through. She tells you she is of the Bekyar, which you know as the tribe that are typically involved in the slave trade around Desolation Cape. She is exceedingly tall for a woman standing close to 6 and a half feet tall. As the conversation winds down, more like as you manage to extricate yourself from her, she laughs and smacks your behind as you walk away. Turning back you see her eyeing you appreciatively.

Horatio Flynn |

Formally I have nothing to do except wait for the response to the question I already asked in game.
Informally I'm going to giggle as Shivikah makes Dhaavan squeal like a piggy :)

Valeros Jaloksin |

"Are you going to return our gear to us now, or keep it?" I ask him bluntly.
Dumping his rum, Valeros spits at Horatio's feet before returning his stare. I hope you can learn some civility otherwise it won't just be Plugg's lash you gotta worry about, boy! I told you I don't want your gear and I meant it but if you're so dead set on assuming the worst of everyone then so be it. I'm done trying to convince you I ain't got no quarrel with you and if you're too thick headed to see it, then we got nothing more to discuss.
Valeros clumps down to the crew bearth and pulls Horatio's gear out of his trunk before dumping it out on to the floor. Closing his chest back up, he moves to the bilges to take care of his nightly routine before climbing into hammock.
Night action will be to sleep.
Stealth to dump the rum: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

Seijiro |

"See, here's the thing. I had a little gold of my own, which I loaned him to get his gear back from Grok. When Valeros got his gear back FOR him at no cost to him, I asked for my gold back. He said he needed it to get his healer's kit refilled and buy a potion. When I told him he could borrow it for that, he threw a fit and said I should give it to him because it belonged to all of us, not just me."
"Now I don't see it that way, seein' as this was MY gold, not belongin' to the group, so I asked for it back and he practically threw it at me and told me I was selfish and implied he wanted nothin' more ta do with me."
"Now, seems ta me, he's the selfish bastard, wantin' what doesn't belong ta him, but maybe I've got things wrong and don't understand. Can you help me understand him? Or is he the one needin' help here?"

DM Immortal |

DM Immortal |

Closing his chest back up, he moves to the bilges to take care of his nightly routine before climbing into hammock.
Remember, Sko found you an empty barrel that he got from Fishguts that he filled with clean water for you. It's in the bilges but at least is clean water.

Dhaavan |

Oh, I'm no "piglet" Shivikah, Dhaavan thinks to himself. A warped sense of pride wells up in him, as he really gets to see the predatory nature of the woman he's speaking to. His interest is certainly peaked, and their verbal sparing serves to intensify that curiosity. It is only thanks to great practice that he hides an almost malicious glint in his eye, the desire to dominate and control something that thinks it is greater than him.
He needs to get out of this conversation, needs a breath of fresh air, needs to get back in control of himself. He's worked hard up till this point to avoid attention, even dodged blame for the Eagle in that brawl. But now he's falling back into old patterns, even though it always ends badly. Managing to escape from Shivikah with tact and guile, maintaining interest, but giving himself some space, Dhaavan joins the others hoping for distraction.
Rain, Sko, and Valeros have all turned in, Flynn seems oddly quiet, almost as though he had some sort of argument, so Dhaavan contents himself to chat with Variel and his new dancing-partner, Badger, if she returns. "Well, we may be stuck 'ere, but i can 'ardely believe it, you manage to make quite a good time, Variel. Say, any idea what's goin on with Flynn, and all them what went below already? Seems like not everybody's got the talent for making a better situation of a bad one."
After chatting for a while, but before the night is too old, Dhaavan will rise, looking almost flustered or frustrated, as if trying to banish some sort of dark thoughts from his mind.
The young Varisian will excuse himself, and rise. He's been looking over the crewmembers like a wolf! Every crew member is prey of some kind, or another wolf that needs putting down, in the case of the officers Dhaavan knows so far. He's surrounded by marks to win over, to make into his allies so he can survive this voyage. Then Sandara and Sejiro talking in the corner does the trick. He almost can't believe how nearly he comes to being overwhelmed by jealousy. She's mine he thinks.
Jack pops up out of his collar, lands on the table and just looks at him for a moment, before flying off without saying a word. Wow, what is wrong with me tonight? Oh to the nine with it all, enough caution and tact! At this point Dhaavan starts heading to move below decks, but passes by Shivikah.
As he moves below decks, he leans in and whispersinto her ear, "So, what does the huntress do when what she thinks is her prey doesn't run, doesn't hide, and doesn't smell of fear?" As he walks away, he lets his hand move from hers to run along her arm, nails digging in, almost taunting her.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33 Lords of the Nine, damn it all, Dhaavan! What the duce do you keep doing this for!!!!! That was supposed to be a simple request, and you draw a 20 for this post? Really? REALLY?!?!
There is something different about him now. The prowling panther can see it, this is another predator, a different sort, but the supreme confidence with which Dhaavan now moves, that control he seems to know he has, almost calls to the woman. This, this boy is definitely something, and whatever that something is, it is alluring, exactly what mamma wanted even though she may not have realized it.
Long story short, Dhaavan takes Shivikah up on her offer to get to know each other better if you know what i mean... GM, you asked for a rake, you got one!

Seijiro |

Seijiro overhears Valeros' outburst to Flynn and decides this may not be the time to approach Flynn to talk... instead he stays near the railing, looking out to sea for a while, contemplating. After a bit, he slips downstairs to his hammock, and seeing others have already turned in, climbs in and curls up, ready for sleep.

Sko |

In response to Fishgut:
"Maybe, but having that much gold makes me too conspicuous and there's no place I can put it that Plugg couldn't get to if he really wanted. This way, I know Plugg doesn't get the money back, his cronies wonder why I've given them any at all let alone double, and I don't have to worry about a shiv between the ribs while someone tries to steal it."
During the passing out of the rum ration:
Sko really just wants to sleep but he feels he has some small amount of momentum from the fight today but he knows that will vanich quickly enough and he wants to use it before that.
As the gold is passed out Sko stands. "My friends," he proclaims loudly addressing the crew, "please accept this to help heighten tonight's merriment. You see, I could not use this gold as I wished...for I have been wounded." Sko pauses for a moment, hoping that most are now listening. "Not of the body, no, but of the heart. I'd hoped to use this gold to win the heart of a fair lady but alas," he continues melodramatically looking up to the stars, "Peppery Longfarthing, how long must my affections trail after you unoticed? There is always more gold, just like this rum," Sko holds up his cup of rum and then deliberately tosses the entire cup overboard, "but there is only one Peppery. Besides," he adds in a joke-menace tone, "if I need more gold I can just beat someone else up."
He then quickly turns to the nearest crewmwmber that he's on good terms with (whomever that happens to be) and points at them. "A song! A song to help Sko's broken heart. Song, song, song. Song. Song. Song! Song! SONG!" Sko continues to chant hoping the rest of the crew will pick it up. His bruises and face muscles have tightend up and all this talk and jesting is making his head start to pound again.

[b] I don't know Dhaavan, just yesterday it seemed that we stuck together during the fight with the rats. There was a minor to do about loot and gold but I thought that was reconciled. During the day, some were talking to each, but after last nights conversation. I don't know. People went their separate ways tonight. What I wouldnt give to know what was being discussed and talked about. Jiro is talking to Sandara. Others went to bed early. I thought I saw Flynn and Valeros getting into it earlier before Valeros went down for the night. Yu know what they were talking about? As it is, I think we are the only ones here still on talking terms with everyone. Of course I haven't really had a chance to talk to Jiro yet and I need to talk to Rain just to see how she is doing. As far as talking to the other crew, no sense not making the best of the situation we are in. Either make it better or learn to like it the way it is.[b].

Horatio Flynn |

I shrug and pick up my gear - then stow it and go about my business.
I've already mentioned nightly actions previously.
So I guess I'll wait until tomorrow.

Dhaavan |

Dhaavan, seeing Sko's performance, joins in the chant, "Song, song, song, SONG! Something to cheer up thi poor heartbroken fellow!" Dhaavan shouts laughing.

DM Immortal |

DM Immortal |

...and tasteful fade out...;-)
Some time later you make your way to your respective hammocks and pass out from sheer exhaustion though you have done yourself proud. Shivikah moved to Helpful+

![]() |

I know what you mean about both of them. It seems that Valeros is the quiet type that responds to actions more than talk while Flynn is very prolific with his words. I see shivika eyeing you. Good luck and get some sleep.
Variel will head to bed as well since most people seem to be winding down and heading that way. Who knows what tomorrow will bring and bet be refreshed and ready.

Horatio Flynn |

Once I get my gear back I intended to go and comfort Owlbear - bring him food and drink.
I have no specific actions I intend to do. My initial plan was to "assist" anyone who needed assistance with a specific task. As I have no specific task - and I sense that my services are not required, nor needed, I shall make small talk with Owlbear and content myself to crafting what I wanted to earlier.
Craft Check
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 = unless there are other modifiers for this?
Excellent - it seems I have succeeded. According to "one day checks" - I am first out 1/3 the cost of the item. Then - I calculate the entire time to make the item - my check representing the work done in a week via silver pieces. To find out daily checks, I divide this by 7 - and that is how many silver pieces I have completed in a "day".
More on this via "Private Message. Meanwhile - as I do not intend to interact with anyone on the ship at this time, unless they approach me directly, I will be below with Owlbear.

Dhaavan |

WIth a glance at Shivikah, Dhaavan sort of chuckles or sighs, or something like that, "Yeah, speaking of trouble... We'll see about sleep at some point tonight..." His voice trails off, and he seems to be looking around the whole ship as if her were trying to avert his gaze from everything that he lays eyes on as opposed to looking at much of anything.
When he leaves his crew-mate, it is with an almost grim resignation, but that quickly fades, replaced by a powerful confidence and voracity, as he looks over the remaining crew members, whispering something to Shivikah then heading down toward the lower decks and sleeping quarters.

DM Immortal |

@Sko: OH. MY. God. Lol I cannot believe you just propositioned not only an officer on the ship...but one who can burn you to cinders where you stand. :-) Well this will be interesting.
Peppery proceeds to the rail and looks down on you with narrowed eyes. She waits a moment before raising her voice slightly to be heard over the chanting. Silence! Her eyes blaze and a bolt of fire shoots down at you engulfing you in flames. As you drop and roll you realize you aren't burning and look up at Peppery. Breaking the utter silence that has followed she says in a low voice that is nontheless easy to hear, Next time it will not be an illusion. Do not presume to speak in such a familiar manner to me again. I am no object for your amusements. Turning to the rest of the crew she yells out NOW HIT YOUR BUNKS! ANYONE ON DECK BY THE TIME I COUNT TO FIVE SPENDS A DAY IN THE BOX!
You all share a stunned look as she begins to count and as soon as she says One. There is a scramble to get below decks and everyone manages to get below before she has hit four.

DM Immortal |

The day dawns on your sixth day aboard the ship...though I suppose "dawns" isn't the best way to describe it as a heavy drenching rain has set in. Moving up on deck, you receive your assignments for the day and begin your work.
Please don't forget to include your ship action in your post.

Rain: Lookout: dc 10 Climb checks to 60' then dc 10 Perception.
Seijiro: Upper Rigging Work: dc 10 Climb checks to 50' then dc10 Prof. Sailor or Dex check.
Horatio & Valeros: Swabbing the deck with the heavy holy stones: Apparently Plugg saw your little altercation and decided to throw you both together. You suspect he is hopeful you will come to blows during the heavy work. DC 10 Strenth or Constitution check, failure means you are fatigued.
Variel: Manning the Bilges: DC 12 Strength check followed by DC 10 Con check.
Dhaavan: Rat Catcher: You did such a good job last time...you get to do it again! Isn't that great! :-) DC 10 Stealth, Survival, or Dexterity check.
Sko: Hunting Leatherback turtles again. Unfortunately Fishguts had a bit too much rum this morning and is slobberingly drunk and passed out which means you need to cook as well. In addition, you are overseen by Plugg who is not nearly as nice as Fishguts is. If you take any day action, you automatically fail the work checks. You need to make a DC 10 Profession Fisherman or Survival check followed by a DC 10 Profession Cook or Intelligence check. Both checks are at a -4 penalty. Bon Apetit!

Seijiro climbs wearily into the rigging... working in the rain just isn't going to be fun. He's especially thankful for his ability to shapechange because working in the rigging with wet fur would be particularly unbearable. He goes about today's task with less enthusiasm than normal.
When there's an opportunity to climb down out of the rigging, he will stop by to see Grok and try to sell that buckler. "Hey, Grok, what's this worth to ya?"
(Assuming it's not MW, it's worth 15, so 7 gp, 5 sp right?)

The morning breaks early for Variel. It seems that the last few days of torture has stiffened his resolve and strengthened his mind and body. New abilities were mastered and old abilities enhanced. Taking his time Variel again goes to a corner to meditate for an hour preparing his spells. Hopefully again no one sees him, or if they do that they understand what he is doing.
Stealth 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Finishing his morning ritual, he heads up to find the deck wet and the clouds overcast. Not a pleasant morning by any means. Wen Plugg assigns the work for the day, it is with resignation that Variel heads to the bilges. Any job today looked like it would be a wet one, bilges was guaranteed to keep him soaked. Passing a gnome, Variel recalls the Tibbs. Never having talked to her before and trying to delay the work in the bilges, Variel will stop and speak with her. Morning, the names Variel. Seems to be a wet one today. Hope you and yours can stay dry. I am stuck in the bilges so I know I will be wet all day. Talk to you later if I can get out of the bilges. Hope to get to know you a bit better. Nothing like getting to know everyone and make the most of the day. Maybe we can share a drink this eventing if the weather let's us. Variel will leave with a wave and a smile. Hopefully a good first impression is made and they can talk more later.
Influence 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Variel was able to handle the bilges just fine, but was quickly tiring by the end of the day.
Strength 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Con 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Dhaavan |

1d20 ⇒ 20
Apparently in a fir of meteorological insight, Dhaavan realizes what is on the horizon, and he curses more than a little violently in Infernal. It can be an elegant or an ugly language, but its curse words really seems to have a palpable violence and grotesqueness in the very syllables.
Crap more storms. So much for Besmara relenting, but i should have known that was too much to hope for...
Stealth Check:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Dhaavan is sadly unpracticed in sneaking about, and seems to be making too much of a racket to track down any bilge-rats, so his performance is rather woeful inadequate.
After last night's display of wrath, Dhaavan's priorities have shifted slightly. While friends are valuable, enemies are sometimes of greater importance. While foes like Maheem and Syl can be dispatched, if need be, some would prove to be much more... difficult... to deal with. particularly those like Peppery Longfarthing!
Diplomacy:
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
While scuttling around after rats, Dhaavan chances to see the woman casting, and taking a bit of a risk, moves toward her on deck, waiting until she completes her task. As she moves back to her cabin, Dhaavan is there, and approaching him on the way to her door, she sees an perfect mask of deep respect, a healthy respect demonstrative a fear of her powers, but not the abject terror of vermin when faced with a beast that would eat them.
Dhaavan gives her a low bow, and says, "I apologize for last night's conduct, Ms. Longfarthing Ma'am. Drinking and fighting and such'll leave a body acting stupid, but that be no excuse for disrespect. Crew 'ought remember it's place. So again, please accept my humble apology"
The boy takes care to not get into her way and speak in a way that lets her continue moving without needing to pause, walk around him, or inconvenience her in any way. He simply speaks his peace, and is finished, not looking to further disturb her, and the impeccable deference certainly shows.

Sko |

Still at night:
Sko turns a suprised eye as Peppery begins her rant.
So she does pay attention, and not as aloof as I thought.
As she rains down illusory fire and threatens more magical menace Sko, briefly, considers staying just to see her reaction (it seems unlikely that she would risk such fires on a ship at sea) but decides that being alone with all the other officers present isn't a good idea. He obediently scurries below with the rest but tries to be one of the last to do so.
As he moves, he tries to catch a glimpse of the other officers to see their reactions. Are they bored (they've seen this before), surprised or what? If they aren't bored, is their attention focused on Sko or Peppery?
I didn't expect such vehemence. I wonder where that comes from?
During the night:
The water is cool against its skin. Though there is no light, the scent of thousands upon thousands of sharks swimming through unfathomable depths is blots out almost everything else. The sharks all swim arouns another shark so immense that its scent vanishes both far ahead and far behind. This is as it should be though. All swim in one direction. The destination is unknowable but it is the right direction nevertheless. The swim continues for time unknowable for time means nothing here. Then, up ahead the faint scent of...BLOOD!
Sko wakes with a start. It takes some time for the sensation of water and a shark's skin to fade, but it does not fade completely.
The day:
Sko does his best to ignore Plugg and will disregard any suggestions he might make regarding work though, occasionally, Sko will make a forlorn sigh.
Survival: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 4 = 26
Cook: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 4 = 16
No day action with Plugg breathing down his neck. When Plugg, finally, turns to leave Sko will say, "So, how is the beautiful Ms. Longfarthing this morning?"

DM Immortal |

When there's an opportunity to climb down out of the rigging, he will stop by to see Grok and try to sell that buckler. "Hey, Grok, what's this worth to ya?"
(Assuming it's not MW, it's worth 15, so 7 gp, 5 sp right?)
Grok is in the Quartermaster's store room which is a tiny metal reinforced room with a series of locked chests in it. She smiles drunkenly and says with her words slightly slurred Sounds like a fair deal to me. She hands you a handful of coins, actually giving you 8 gold and 9 silver in her stupor. Care to see anything else I got? Gold ain't much use on a tub like this and is easy to lose. An item especially a marked on is a bit harder to steal.
Assuming you want to see what she has... She pulls a ring of keys from a chain around her neck and opens a couple of the chests for you to see inside. Inside the first chest you see, a random collection of low value miscellaneous gear. A random group of items less than 10 gp in value. In the next chest is a starknife, 3 vials of green fluid that grok tells you is acid and 6 vials of red fluid she says are alchemical fire, as well as 4 sets of wires and picks that you immediately recognize as thieve's tools one of which is very nice. There are four more chests that she doesn't open. If you ask about them she says Well those are a bit higher end and I don't think you have the gold or trade for them. I'll tell you what though, you come back with 100 gold worth of trade and we can look at the other chests. She winks at you and takes another long pull on her flask.

@Variel Giffer turns her one eye on you as you talk. She begins by glaring at you but eventually softens a bit under your courtesy. She is a bedraggled woman who had obviously seen better days. She is quiet and keeps to herself for the most part. I pretty sure weather not get better tonight. Big storm coming. Need be ready to work hard to not die. She finishes with a laugh. Her accent is extremely heavy and almost unrecognizable though you would guess her from somewhere far to the north.
After that, she goes back to work swabbing the deck, her tattered clothes soaking up the sudsy water as well as the pouring rain.
Attitude improved from unfriendly to indifferent.

Seijiro |

"Well, that set of tools is very nice... how much for that?" pointing to the set of what he hopes are masterwork tools, but he hopes Grok doesn't recognize them as such in her stupor. He jingles the coins he has in his hand as if itching to spend them.

@Dhaavan Peppery raises an eyebrow as she sweeps past and she looks you over for a moment but says nothing. You are unsure whether your apology helped or not...but you are sure that at least she didn't destroy you where you stood. You could sense and feel power radiating off of the woman and you suspect that even with your confidence in your abilities she would have no trouble destroying most of the ship and crew with the possible exception of the Captain. This is a woman who has a power that you so desperately crave...and from the looks of it is unafraid to use it.
Dhaavan, you are soooooooooo lucky you rolled that well lol. Remember that the Diplomacy DC is the DC + the opponents charisma modifier. She is a pretty potent sorcerer and as such her charisma is jacked pretty high. Anyway, you suspect that she is someone you aren't going to be able to influence too much but your check definitely put you at least back beneath her radar from a negative perspective. i.e. She isn't likely to seek to do you all harm. So good job for that because Peppery is NOT someone you all want as an enemy lol.

Grok looks at you and says For you? 75 gold in coin or trade. That's the best I can do for you as these were crafted by a master. She winks conspiratorially and says I know because I was shagging him at the time and he definitely WAS a master. She guffaws loudly at her poor joke.

@Sko: The officers are interested and you see Plugg and Scourge look upon the scene of you potentially alienating someone as powerful as Peppery. The Captain didn't seem interested in much besides fondling his cabin girl Caulky.
Plugg mostly comes down and berates you for minuscule things, again he is trying to get a rise out of you. When he sees you completing your tasks without issue even without Fishguts he goes upstairs in disappointment. When you mention Peppery he smiles and says Why don't you go ask her lover boy? Before continuing up the stairs.

Seijiro chuckles at her jest and shrugs, dejectedly. "I haven't the coin or the trade goods for something that high right now, but if something comes up, I'll keep that in mind, as it's very nice. For now I guess I'll just hang onto these coins. Thanks for your time, Ma'am." He slips the coins into his purse and the purse into the folds of his haramaki before heading back up to his job.

Gaffer: Really, I didn't think it would get that bad. Hopefully I don't drown in the bilges if we are in for that rough of a ride. Better get started now and hope that I can keep up. Again good luck to you today.

Ret-con Action via request of GM
While I did my best to answer this in another message - I shall do what you need at this time.
I shall roll both checks - in order of your query - though I do not if I truly need the second check - hence my question to you via the message. If I do - you have the rolls; if I don't, feel free to disregard it.
Check 1 via question
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Check 2 via question
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Meanwhile - I shall take my "Strength Check" and I shall attempt to "Work Diligently" via my "Daily action".
1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 1 + 4 = 15 The "plus 4" being for diligent work.

While she walks away and her back is turned, Dhaavan moves off away from the middle of the deck, avoiding the others, and stares hard, trying to subtly cast Detect magic to study her, and try to catch any auras. See if she's got any magic items on her at the moment if i can look for long enough, and try to see if i can catch a glimpse of the auras within her lab through the thin wooden walls.

Dhaavan |

Later on, Dhaavan will make time to run into Sko before the Bloody hour Other PCs may be about as well and quietly chat with him, "Listen Sko, that Peppery, she's dangerous. trust me on this one. There's some people what are all bark and no bite, then there's folks like me, reel friendly like, but not to be trifled with lightly, then there's the ones like her. Scary on the outside, and even more terrafying under the surface. I could feel the power radiatin' off o her, and I honestly think she'd torch a body to a dead crispy husk without battin an eye bout it. Now she gave me a fierce evil eye today, and I'm not even sure she has a good side to try to get on, only a bad side i want to avoid, savvy?"
