I'm going to have to go back and scrub the posts for loot, etc. Give me a couple days.
Braelex plans to buy a few extract formulas, probably retrain a discovery, and build a clay golem. First and foremost, though, she needs to get an ioun stone for the shard.
Can we hold more than 1 shard? Are there any synergy bonus powers, etc?
Lastly, we need Nalar's shard before he departs...
Questions
0) Am I correct that you plan to retrain (a discovery) into promethean disciple to get craft construct?1) Why a clay golem - Berserk is not fun times.
Gemel Valdemar |
Berserk could be bad, yes... but 1% chance.
"cumulative 1% chance each round"
First round 1%, Second round 2%, third round 3%...In every single fight you get into... Clay golems are hard to justify as worth the money to make one. Still if you have the manual as treasure, maybe...

[dice=Hit Points]1d5+3 +1 favored class bonus
+ fluid form extract
+ Discovery: sticky bombs
+ Skills: Appraise, Craft (alchemy), Disable Device, Knowledge (arcana), Perception, Sleight of Hand, Spellcraft, Use Magic Device
**
I had an unspent feat leftover from 9th level. For some reason I though I needed to hold something for the golemcrafting, but I can't find that now. I'll take Rapid Reload.
Not interested in learning Infusions then? I find that can make a big difference it party buffs.
Braelex* |
Okay, I went through all the posts back to when we entered the dungeons. I came up with the following:
2x couatl feathers
Sweettalker: magic bracers, magic elixir, 150 gp
Dead halfling: Perotus tomes, stud leather +3, boots of striding/springing
8x +1 human bane bolts
Luonim: 3x cure mod potions (2 used), wand of shield (9ch), mwk dagger, amulet of nat armor +1, ring of prot +1 (Nalar)
2x scrolls of plane shift, 1 arcane 1 divine
Dank Rider: +3 full plate, +2 handaxe, spine flail
Nuck: mwk longsword (ygbsm)
@DM: Did the manannangal have anything? Wyverns? Silasni? Caulborn? I feel like we are missing a ton, or else this dungeon had a lot hidden away.
DM Fflash |
not on your list, but found:
+1 seeking light crossbow with those bolts
platinum key from the horse statue is worth 900gp
Hasaris's items identify as: bracers of armor +2, elixor of truth
I'll give you the ring of mind shielding from Silasni's body since you walked right over it.
I'll also give you the fours suits of +1 full plate in the Dark Tower's hallway (on armor stands)
Rooms you missed that had a ton of treasure, but not retconning it: Wyvern lair (to the south), library (to the south), stable (to the north), nuckelavee lair (to the north), guest quarters (with visiting Bone Sage .. to the north), the skin harp on the wall you were looking at but never touched (room to the north) and the pool room that you never entered.
So, yeah, you missed a lot by zinging straight to the end boss and walking out.
Relan* |
Loot - Relan would love to be able to wear that +3 full plate but is a feat away from being able to do so.
He has a feat, Cut from the Air, that could be retrained. It seemed cool, but does not come up much. Thoughts?
If he does not find a way to get Heavy Armor proficiency he will need some better armor. He currently has a +2 chain shirt. Ideas?
Braelex |
@Gemel: Nice find! Nalar used it before we set off for Kaer Maga, and Braelex planned to use it next. I don't think we're going to have more than a month downtime, but you can take it next.
@Relan: Its a big AC boost, and you were considering that anyway. I don't know the Cut form the Air feat, so no opinion. If its highly situational, might be worth the swap out.
Working on the loot distro. Question for the DM: is the split including Gemel, or are we assuming he shows up "as is"?
Gemel Valdemar |
Relan has a 13 Int and is also in line for using the tome. Seems like those with odd Ints should get access first.
I'm willing to wait in line; as you mentioned, my Int is even, so it doesn't buy me much at this time...
With regards to your armor dilemma, remember that you're trading off a) dex bonus vs armor bonus (leaving enchantment out of it; you can buy enchantment) and b) mobility (not to mention 2 feats). The full plate is +9 Armor +1 Dex + 3 enchantment, 20ft/move and only 3X run. You have a +3 dex bonus; a breastplate is +6 Armor +3 Dex. I can make a mithril one for you pretty easily: +6 Armor + up to +5 Dex, and 30ft/move and 4X run.
Gemel Valdemar |
Oh yeah, if we think we are short on cash, how does everyone feel about taking a trip out to the crow and finding out how much siccatite and bronze I can recycle from those doors in a single casting of fabricate?
Heck if we get really enthusiastic, we could go back to the Lady's Light. How much Dzejet could I extract from a "immense panel of reddish metal is nearly twenty feet tall and ten feet wide"...Link, look in the spoiler
Gemel Valdemar |
Question: Does Andel need to level? If he gets a feat, my suggestion is Flagbearer. It's a morale bonus that stacks with his insight bonuses from Naturalist. When we have some more money, a Banner of the Ancient Kings would be nice...
Gemel Valdemar |
In the interest of 1 (or more) posts a day, the party stated with the Shard of Pride (on the thief, Natalya), found the Shard of Greed in the Crow, the Shard of Lust in the Ladies Light, the shard of Gluttony in Kaer Maga, and the visions now lead to the shard of envy? Is that right?
0) Who's holding which shard right now : we have pride(?Vuloo, don't see it on his character profile?) , greed (Relan), lust (used to be Nalar) and Gluttony (?Braelax?)
I note that the curse on the shard of Gluttony was a big problem; Braelax as essentially disabled for a major fight after it was found.
1) Another flex time research item: What are the curses on the remaning shards?
2) Do we need plan for handling any shards we find? Either a) Extradimensional storage ( Here, "Once it's inside the haversack, the owner does lose the effects of the shard and ioun stone." or b) having the right Ioun stone available :
Pride, associated with a Scarlet and Blue Ioun Stone (INT stone)
The Shard of Greed, associated with transmutation magic and made of adamantine, you will need a pale blue rhomboid ioun stone (STR Stone)
The Shard of Lust, associated with enchantment magic and constructed from djezet, you will need a pink and green sphere ioun stone. (CHA Stone)
The Shard of Gluttony, associated with necromancy and composed of inubrix ... find a pink rhomboid ioun stone. (CON Stone)
The Shard of Envy, abjuration magic, noqual. You will need a dusty rose prism. (Insight to AC, 5000 GP)
The Shard of Wrath, evocation, hot siccatite. A deep red sphere. (Dex Stone)
The Shard of Sloth, associated with conjuration magic and made of abysium. You will need an incandescent blue sphere ioun stone. (WIS Stone)"
Relan* |
Also Gemel, can you indeed craft that mithril breastplate for me? And what about enchanting it? What would costs be. it would be nice if the enchantment from the chain shirt could simply be transferred to the breastplate. Oh, are you interested in the +2 chain shirt?
Gemel Valdemar |

I can craft the breastplate no problem. I cannot enchant it (no craft magic arms and armor feat). Cost would be materials = 1/3 normal cost. You would have to ask FFlash about transferring enchantments ( I will note that fabricate the spell won't work with enchanted objects...). I might be interested in the chain shirt, but again, Fflash might have something to say about WBL.
DM Fflash |
Without the craft feats, you pay full price for the enchantment.
I don't track individual wealth by level ... that's up to the party to determine how they wish to do that ... the shards certainly make it hard. I don't recall how you all decided to do loot distro in this game. Braelex probably knows.
Vuloo has no shards. Braelex has Pride and Gluttony right now
Relan has Greed.
Lust is on the table
The other 3 are to be found.
Relan* |
So, someone can have and use more than one shard?
Are armor enchantments available for purchase in time to support the mission?
We will need the loot split to know what we have to spend.
Braelex |
I'm working on the final loot split. It goes back a long ways since we did a sell off, so I need to make sure we aren't double dipping. I'll endeavor to get something together today...
Braelex currently has 2 shards, but I'm willing to redistribute. I'd like to keep the Shard of Pride because its powers and ioun stone mesh well with my PC.
I think the Shard of Gluttony would make sense with Relan as it has +2 Con ioun stone, and has a touch attack vampiric touch power. Vuloo is a contender for it also... healer can always use more hp.
The Shard of Lust is good with either Vuloo or Gemel. +2 Cha ioun stone. You two will have to hash it out.
Braelex* |
Okay, here is the compiled list of loot collected over the last 3-ish years of gameplay (since the last payout). I marked the few items already claimed, and a few other notes. Please make any last chance claims, and then I'll sell the rest and give out cash splits.
And 4550 gp.
Gemel Valdemar |
I notice a Gemel on your list Braelex (beside a scroll of plane shift), presumably that would be part of Naral's share... (I assume he's getting a cut and taking it with him - his arse was on the line after all.)
Gemel Valdemar |
Yeah, I know Gemel isn't part of this split, but I figured if we kept the scrolls he could hold onto one. Then I just realized Gemel isn't an arcane caster. Can anyone use arcane scrolls? Braelex has UMD.
Gemel has a +15 to UMD, and can bump that by another +4 easily (if he needs).
Relan* |
Relan has claimed the boots of striding & springing and has been using them for a while.
I seem to recall he had an nonmagical adamantine dagger at one time but gave it back to the party when we found a +1 adamantine dagger, which he carries.
He is also wearing those flying wings we took off of the caster. He likes the bur does not have to keep them. Unsure of value or how long they let you fly.

Additionally the 3 members of the original party receive 6 Fame/Prestige for recovering the Shard of Gluttony.

Spine Flail: Aura faint necromancy; CL 4th
Slot none; Price 13,308 gp; Weight 10 lbs.
DESCRIPTION
This weapon looks like the barbed spine of a humanoid. A
spine flail functions as a +2 flail that deals slashing damage and
has reach. Unlike most weapons with reach, a spine flail can be
used against adjacent foes. On a critical hit from a spine flail,
the victim must succeed at a DC 15 Fortitude save to resist
being permanently blinded by the blow.
Spine flails are favored by powerful dullahans, who harvest
the spines from their first victims. The undead riders have
a particular affinity for their personal spine flails, and often
maintain a supernatural control over their weapons, causing
them to appear or disappear at will.

Andel gains a ring of spell knowledge III. Party choice for the spell.
That's a nice toy. You realize that the spell in a Ring of Spell Knowledge isn't fixed; you can switch it (given either a written source or a demonstration) to another spell with a DC 20 spellcraft... Andel should probably start making a little library of scrolls or such. Too bad there is no version for Psychic spells; Gemel would want one.

If we can sell the flail without deception they lets sell it. I have to assume the listed price takes into account all the aspects of the item...
I could use the wings but giving up a cloak slot is a lot. I do not recall ever seeing the stat block for them. Are they always on? Do they have a duration? What is their speed and maneuverable? What actions would be required to switch from cloak to wings?

With the exception of the fact you can use a "demonstrated spell", I treat the swap as learning a spell through study (since it mentions study and teaching the ring and it uses a Spellcraft check), so it takes an hour.
I do that to avoid the over flexibility of swapping on the round needed since I think that's a step too far.
The one I routinely struggled with is the implication of a "spell cast on you" ... any, ever? That seems to defeat the purpose of spell knowledge (and is also a case for "immediate teaching") ... so I've wrestled with how to handle that. I have settled on the below rule then, but am open to hearing an argument for the other side that still accounts for "study" in the second paragraph.
Demonstrated Spell: Immediately cast on you and then you start the learning, so it doesn't apply to spells cast on you in combat last week.
Also, it burns a scroll ... but not the spellbook, like any other learning.
Make sense?

Hmm. Sounds like a standard to activate, but no duration restrictions. And no where does it say it uses a shoulder slot. Am I missing something?
