Do I need to state that I was watching the crowd or could that just be a random perception check to notice that the same people were checking out the site as well?

Male Stonechild Stonechild 4 / Fighter 5/ Cleric 1/ Stalwart defender 1 (HP 156 AC 29) (Fort 19 Reflex 10 Will 11) alignment LN

i will continue to help with the clean up, when that is finish i will ask the old man with the vegetable stand if he needs any help moving the stand? i will purchase vegetables for the bar (to throw into the stew) and some more for my Aunt. After that is done i will go to the butcher shop and pick up our order for the bar.

Not a random perception check. Dalamus actively looked for it

Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)

Not sure if I am involved in this discussion about the people watching or not, if I am I will see if I can see them if not I will see if I can overhear and them and then pick them out.

Perception to overhear (if they don't include me) - 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Perception to locate targets if I overhear or if I am included - 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

If I overhear or if they include me in the discussion I will offer the following

"I am also fairly adept at following a target unaware, if you would be willing to accept my assistance I would gladly help trail once of these people and inform you of what I find." Sama'el shrugs, "I am here to help if you will allow me to"

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5

The conversation Dalamus had, was whispered only to Nowzai, as to not alert anyone who was watching from the crowd. If Dalamus had gathered the group together, and told them all to check that guy out, it kind of would have defeated the purpose ;)

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5

BTW, you know the history of this group....Not exactly looking to trust random people, especially from Cauldron...Be ready for some cold shoulders ;)Don't take it personally, just trying to play our characters.

Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)

Nope totally fine with it, my race doesn't help the issue at all, I am expecting trust issues but should make for good opportunities to RP and Sam will honestly be as helpful as possible and working to build the trust. He hasn't had much in the way of friends so he will be untrusting a bit too, honestly if his blade hadn't told him you were all part of the plan I would be much less likely to even try and be helpful

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5

I hear ya...This will be a bit of a grinding start to this relationship, but that is good....it should be, on both sides!

Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)

So if I wasn't able to pick up on anyone watching us work and after listening to Nowzai talk about the circle I will head back to the inn.

Before Same'al leaves he will look to the group and say, "I heard the Stonechild refer to you all as the Guardians of Cauldron, in my exploration of this city I learned of you rescuing the orphan children who had been kidnapped. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for that service. Children are to be protected at all costs, and orphan children who society often overlook and shun need even more protection. The fact that all of you would risk your lives for orphans speaks volumes as to your character and your honor. If you ever need anything at all, I would gladly offer you my help. I am staying at the Slippery Eel, call on me anytime."

"Also if you are interested in what I find out let me know where you are staying and I will pass along any information I find as well."

The Warehouse Crime Scene

Magma approaches Beppo who is angrily picking fruit up and placing it back on his cart. It takes the old man a few moments, but he eventually places Magma with the person who helped him in the street. Gruffly he says, "Thanks." He looks the stonechilde over for a second and then notes his holy symbol. Pausing, he considers for a moment and then coughs, "When's the next service? I might come by."

Dalamus and Nowzai whisper to each other and then the half-elf disappears into the crowd.

Dalamus:

You track the hooded figure for a while, who although moving with a slight limp and a slouch seems to cover ground quickly. The hooded man seems to glance over his shoulder once and then ducks into an alley. Dalamus sees it and follows him quickly, attempting to stay out of sight. He catches the man doffing his robe and breaking into a sprint out the other end of the alley into the main thoroughfare. He attempts to hide behind some signs on the way, but Dalamus' keen eyes pick him out until the man ducks into a large crowd and seemingly disappears.

Dalamus stands in the street and stares at every face that comes by, but none of them come even close to the profile of the man he was tracking. Like that .... he was gone.

The MTA gnomes finish their investigation and leave. The Town Guard leaves just the two men guarding the scene, but the general hubub dies down.

Other than awaiting Dalamus' return, is there anything else you all wish to do over the next couple days? I'll push to the next event shortly.

I will be alert for anyone following me around town while I look into the things below

I will keep looking into the circle. Mainly I am looking into Maavu. Has he been seen around before or after the attack? Was he seen hanging around anyone before the attack? How many people in the town could do a summoning like that?

I would also try and connect with the Mayor both about assisting in the aftermath of the attack as well as learn how I can assist the ophanage.

Before we depart the warehouse, Nowzai will make a detailed sketch of the circle in his journal, and collect any pieces of physical evidence (dust, candles, focii, etc) to bring to the Academy. "That hulk was a powerful fiend, and there cannot be many summoners in Cauldron with the skills to accomplish such magic. I will speak with my colleagues there, and see if I can find any leads."

Nowzai ponders for a minute. "Who is this Maavu person, again?"

** spoiler omitted **...

Sir Beppo, The followers of Torag have yet to build a church here in the Cauldron. Gurzenon and I usually have a small gathering on the day of rest for any dwarves that wish to join us. you are welcome any time. i would like to purchase these fruits for my aunt Sondor the cartwright. could you deliver these to her, she lives

further down on Magma avenue, i give him the gold for the fruits plus 5 gold for delivery fee for my aunt.

At the bar do we make any Alcohol with fruits? if we do i will purchase those fruits from Beppo and ask him to deliver them to the bar. do you need any help moving your cart to a new location?

i will purify all the fruit that was damage during our battle so Beppo won't have to throw them away or sell them at a lost.

DM:
Sorry, I'll try to get caught up on this! I rolled a 23 for my craft, but you're right, the +1 str adds another 100gp to the cost, so that'd be out of the question.

Craft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25

I'm not sure what it'll take to hunt, but once I've got that then I'll try to start moving north towards the meeting point, and track to see if I can find some deer or whatever type of larger grazing animal is around.

If you want to use the previous survival and knowledge nature I had a 21 and 15. I didn't even notice until right now that I can just use a survival roll to move 1/2 my speed and provide food and water, so the 21 would give me extra food for 5 people, and with a second roll for tomorrow I can get the rest:

Survival: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28

If we want to have me hunt, etc. That's cool too! Wouldn't mind snagging a buck and having a trophy to display :)

Edit: that last survival roll would feed another additional 9, so as long as I can cover the 5 miles I probably have some time left over too, right? If so I'll see if I can keep working on the bow and try to get something a bit less crude.

Warehouse Crime Scene

General knowledge is that Maavu is a wealthy merchant in the local area. As far as you can recall, you haven't met him nor do you know what he looks like

Beppo annotates the fruit order and declines assistance with his cart. Although slow and plodding, he seems comfortable moving his cart by himself.

Dalamus:
You look all around and are certain you've not left any stone unturned, but of the man you were chasing, there is zero sign. He's slipped you somehow.

Additionally, you recognize the woman in the paragraph below as one of the people watching you.

Over the course of the next few days, nothing of great interest occurs. Although Epik, who was conspicuously absent for three days does eventually return (I assume?). Magma and Gryphon spend a ton of time reworking one of the stills to attempt to begin fermenting some fruits although Gryphon is convinced he'll have more success just using them as garnish for the ladies.

Rumors abound about the umber hulk incident, but the most prominent is that Maavu was seen fleeing the city that night on horseback. The prevailing opinion is the man created the disaster as some sort of insurance scam or bank fraud. Additionally, many people stop you in the street to clap you on the back or to thank you for saving their husband, wife, friend etc. You enjoy a little celebrity for the next week and at the height of one particular evening repast paid for by one of the warehouse owners, a drop-dead gorgeous woman enters the bar. A hush falls over the entire room as she smiles, looks around, sees you and glides over to you.

Dressed in fine blue silks with golden curled hair cascading down , she wears a simple pendant and carries a simple black folding case with white gloves. She stops at your table and opens the case, presenting small white card, "I'd like to arrange a business dinner for tomorrow sundown with you and any of your comrades who aren't here. You'll find it profitable. Dress appropriately." She says the last as she eyes you all up and down with a slightly disapproving look, but smiles it off and turns to leave.

Month 1

Nemoris:

I think the survival roll is plenty to get what you need and traverse the distance. You are able to secure a buck with your newly made bow and arrows and you're smart enough to travel most of the way before you shoot it, reducing your portage time.

The Walking Man, itself turns out to be an absolutely ginormous tree-like monument. It's shaped like a massive man towering at least 8 to 10 times the heighth of the tree tops. It looks like it's just finishes a long stride which is probably about a couple hundred yards long.

Male Stonechild Stonechild 4 / Fighter 5/ Cleric 1/ Stalwart defender 1 (HP 156 AC 29) (Fort 19 Reflex 10 Will 11) alignment LN

Elder does mean we have to dress up again???

Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)

I don't want to assume I am just with the party when the hot blond comes into the bar. Am I there? Does she find me somewhere else?

Male Human Wizard (Conjuror) 10 / Loremaster 4

"Your name, my lady?" Nowzai asks as the woman turns to leave.

*

Nowzai chuckles as he picks up the card, reading. "It does sound like we will get our money's worth from those threads."

Sama'el Val'varen wrote:

I

Hmm, fully intended to write a similar sequence for you at your bar ... Stupidly forgot. Assume the same and you can dialogue with her separately, since you're staying at a different place.

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5

After the lady leaves, Dalamus will turn back to the table "She was there, when the hulk had attacked. I saw her in the crowd after the fight, and she was watching us intently.....She kinda glided about the crowd. She knows that I saw her too, as she looked me in the eyes and smiled"

Dalamus will pick up is mug and take a hearty drink of his ale, then placing it back down on the table "I didn't mention this to any of you earlier, but right after the fight I looked over the crowd trying to identify anyone that was really interested in what was happening, but not just interested.....Someone that was the cause. I saw such a man, with whom I pointed out to Nowzai. I followed him for a while, and I was really careful, but somehow he noticed me and was able to give me the slip. I don't know how, but he was an old man on top of it. He must have used some sort of magic....that is the only way!

Tike would Dalamus recognize him, if he saw him again?

Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)

Sama'el will look at the woman openly confused, "I am sorry, who are you?"

He will add, looking slightly embarrassed, "I do not mean to be rude, but including this time, I can count on one finger the number of times I have been approached by a beautiful woman and asked to dinner. Mostly you humans revile my kind, you have caught me off guard here."

I will look at the card, what does it say?

Answers are the same for both groups as of right now

Glancing at the card it's made of a fine white stock, and written in calligraphy it says,

Cusp of Sunrise/Obsidian Avenue Northwest

The woman makes to leave and as you ask your question, she says "My name is Celeste, we'll discuss more tomorrow night."

Knowledge (local) DC10:

The Cusp of Sunrise is a well-known dinner club and inn for nobles. Access is by invitation from a member only, and the membership list is reputed to be quite exclusive. The Cusp is owned by a Caludron noble, Ophella Knowlern, who lives in Hollowsky.

It was a recent part of the "Drink Down the Flood" game during the Flood Festival, but they did their portion of the festivities on tables set on the street. (Dalamus drank against an old one-eyed dwarf that day)

Sam:

Your attempt to offer the Mayor's office help are received by clerks who smile gently and assure you they'll pass the message on. The library, they say, requires the Mayor's permission to ask and is only granted to citizens, which they are aware you are not one.

Dalamus:

You're pretty certain you'd recognize the man. His look and especially his beard were fairly distinctive

Nowzai frowns, nodding. "Aye, though I've never been there. It is an fine dining establishment, very exclusive and invitation only. We best be well behaved... and dressed," he adds with a wink.

To Dalamus, "It appears we've been headhunted for a task. Assuredly we will learn more of this woman at dinner. As for this man you tracked, it is possible he used illusion magic to evade sight. Even if he did not see you, he might have suspected a trail."

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5

"I guess we better head to the seamstress for the appropriate attire."

Dalamus looks at Nowzai, pondering his words for a moment "Hmmm, I am not so sure that he didn't see me, his behavior changed fast, and he moved with determination. As for the task, do you have any idea which group she may be a member of? This is quite an exquisite place to bring a group like our own, she must have the ear of someone very important"

Dalamus will finish his drink and meal, and head out to purchase some fine clothes for the meeting.

Alright, so it sounds like everyone intends to go. Need to hear from Epik and Nemoris and what their intents are. Everyone else, let me know what prep you wish to do over the next day.

Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)

While my clothes are already fairly expensive they are also functional and most likely not suitable for mingling with royalty and the city elite. I will go a purchase the required items to create Sleeves of Many Garments. I will then use them to create a Courtier's Outfit of suitable style and refinement.

Spellcraft to Create DC 10 - 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33 - Takes 1 day for every 1000 gp these cost 200 new or 100 gp to make, do I have enough time to get this done?

Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)

Changed up a couple of spells that I have preped. I will cast Ablative Barrier before leaving for the party as it has a 5 hour duration and I don't imagine I will be there longer than that. I will also carry my bag of holding and transfer most of my gear to it for the evening as it will blend in better than a backpack.

Magic items for sale are limited to what's at Skie's, the potion shop, or the churches (scrolls/potions). Thus the opportunity to travel to the city of Osibu.

Noble's outfits are readily available for purchase with appropriate city taxes.

If I don't hear from Epik shortly, I'll assume he doesn't go.

Dinner at the Cusp

Over the next day, you all check your clothes and gear and a couple of you buy new outfits (or create them), which surprisingly are significantly different than the ones you bought several weeks ago. Fashion changes quicker than the weather around here.

You arrive at the Cusp of Sunrise around sun down and are met by an immense bald man in light blue robes standing square in the doorway. After a slow appraisal, he speaks with a dry, monotone voice, "You're the umber hulk people. I'm Renjin -- Welcome to the Cusp of Sunrise"

He doesn't move.

Sam:

Same stuff for you above, but singular. I'll assume you arrive a bit earlier than the others.

Gather info (Knowledge) turns up absolutely zero about Celeste. Not even someone who knows her.

The Lord Mayor's office

The woman listens to your inquiry politely and patiently before she replies, somewhat rehearsed, "You must either be born here or be gifted with citizenship for great service to the city," she stops and smiles at you and leans forward conspiratorily and says "or show evidence of noble birth and pay a TON of money!" She giggles quickly before she regains her composure and settles back into a professional posture.

Month 1

Nemoris:

You casually work in the shadow of the monstrous tree-like landmark. You catch a very faint flicker in the trees tops ahead of you and you follow the movement although you don't see the elf until he steps out a few feet ahead of you. "You made it," he states without emotion. "Let's begin your training then." He tosses a pack to the ground. "Follow me, we have about a half-day's travel to my camp where we'll start the cycle. Feel free to ask any questions along the way."

The pack contains all your possessions.

"Thank you for the info, I will see what I can do to assist the city. Have a great day my lady." I will bow and exit.

Dinner at the Cusp

With a sweeping gesture and a grand bow, Renjin grabs the card and swings the heavy bronze door open allowing you access to a richly furnished coat room/check-in area. As he ushers you in, he grabs a quill and parchment and annotates a couple things, looking up every so slightly. He eyes your gear (I'm assuming no heavy armor ... please let me know if I'm wrong). As he comes across Nemoris, he appraises his bow and says, "Master Nemoris, I don't believe we'll be hunting any game tonight.". Epik's shield gets a similar glance as he sniffs, "Sir Epik, the grand melee isn't for several months, I'm sure your person will be unscarred by the fine gentry here."

Ranged weapons, medium/heavy armor, and shields will need to be checked here before you're allowed in
