Who is Jil, and who are the Last Laugh? (thieves guild, right?)
Nowzai al'Nazari wrote: Who is Jil, and who are the Last Laugh? (thieves guild, right?) You met Jil a long while back during the kidnapping investigation. Probably 4 years in real time.
Last Laugh is the Thieves' Guild, yes.

Damn, 4 years? Has it really been that long!

What are we waiting for? Tike are you waiting for something from us?
Nope, I'm up. Taxes have gotten in my way ... I'll try to get something g out soon.

BTW, completely unrelated to this game, if any of you may be interested in joining another PbP game I'm running using the Shattered Star adventure path, let me know. Dave's in it, already. I intend to recruit up to 2 more players, one will need to be a healer. The other I'm going to just leave wide-open.
Characters will start at 2nd level and enter the party right as they hit 2nd level. General synopsis of shattered star is artifact retrieval out of well-built mega dungeons. Lots of history and ties to other Paizo products (although fore knowledge isn't necessary)
Check out the gameplay thread here:

Post interested replies here, and if we decide to make actual characters I'll move character development to the Shattered Star Discussion.

I'd be down. I could attempt to play the healer, or anything else really. I haven't played a healer so if I end up being the healer I make no promises on life expectancy :)

I am thinking about it as well.....Does that game move at the same pace as this one?
About ... we were moving quicker when we had 5 folks posting. When we dropped to 3, it slowed majorly. I have the cleric, so you guys will compete for the second slot. We'll choose based on character and I let the current guys vote, so get us something shortly.

I think rule #1 was for me....jerk
Heh ... it's been there for a long time.
But I do learn from past play :)

Well I figured it was in there since you started, since it is rule #1, I just figured it was Malcolm's fault ;)

I'm interested in the Shatter City game. I've rolled up the linked Dwarven Cleric. Do you want me to post under the recruiting section?
Odef, Dwarven Cleric of Irori.
Just filled both slots this past Friday, Epik. Sorry, didn't know you were interested, otherwise I'd have held it open a bit longer.

Hey all, I think I might need to take a break from this campaign for a bit, maybe for good. Not sure why but my characters seem to just battle with Dave's no matter what I play.
I play a guy who won't kill an unconscious, woman because it's fairly evil, and we battle, I play someone a little less good who is looking for fair value to risk his life and Nowzai takes the high road and will do it for the original offer and battles with me over that.
It's pretty clear that unless I change the way I play I am just not a good fit for this group dynamic and I am not going to waste any more time creating another PC with any sort of depth because it just doesn't work.
I have really enjoyed the group and I wish it could have meshed better, it's most likely just my play style that doesn't work with you all because you have all been playing just fine before I came along.
Tike I look forward to your other campaign, I will play a less head strong guy and just go with the flow more in that one.
I'm honestly not being contentious player-to-player, but going with the flow on how Nowzai would react. For example, Dalamus is greedy as hell, and raised some concerns with the mission, but didn't outright ask for more money.
That being said, 4-6k PER CHARACTER is at ton of money at this level, and I think pushing for more in the manner Sam did is rude; and quibbling about it just exacerbates the divide. I think our last mission went for about 5k TOTAL. I understand we are risking our lives, but that's kinda what adventurers do...
Last, Sam's still a relative stranger, so Nowzai has no real reason to trust him. I never suggested doing it for free... in his eyes, the offer on the table is exceptionally generous, and asking for more is beyond the bounds of noble decorum.
If you want to play Sam a greedy mercenary, that's fine, but expect friction with the more altruistic PCs in the party.
Its probably worth adding that Nowzai has a lot of knowledge of, and abhorrance for, evil outsiders. That Sam is a tiefling who looks like Satan's stepchild is at the root of his distrust and 'snappy' attitude.

Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5
Sam, not for nothing but without this banter the game can become a bore. I personally really like the relationships we build or destroy.
So you play a character that looks evil, and Nowzai has a lot of knowledge of such. This is no different than being born a minority, and having to deal with prejudice and bigotry. These are walls that are formed by the characters themselves, and can be overcome.
Dal is really greedy, but I play him in such a way, that is not always liked, but is tolerated. If I were do so something completely against the wills of others, they would be upset with Dalamus as well....probably not as much as you, but then you are not yet a member of this group. You have not bled for your brethren yet, nor have you saved any.
Give it time, you will get the opportunity to show your worth and value and earn the respect of the "characters".
As an off topic note, one thing I really enjoy about these games is the use of other languages. Unfortunately, we have not really leveraged that.
For example, if you and Nowzai spoke a common language, but not one that we know, you could have had this discussion with each other, while not upsetting our hosts.
That too would have offered a lot of flavor text.
Your not going anywhere! :)
Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5
Suuuurrreeee.....everything blows up last night, and not today.....nothing! :)
Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)
yeah sorry at work and not as much time anymore to post during the day.
I am totally cool with sticking around, I just thought everyone might be getting tired of the in-fighting. I don't mind it if none of you do, I just didn't want to take away from anyone having fun.
Male Fetchling Slayer 7/ Red Mantis 5
Just brace yourself, because the characters will continue to get frayed nerves with each other.
Worry not ... you will definitely find some solace in each other as the story unfolds and the area starts to unravel ... :)
Granted, by play by post, that could be upwards of a year real-time, but never you mind!!!
All, I'm house hunting this entire week in Ohio. I'll be taking my laptop and books with me, but I may or may not update as quickly, depending on how successful our trip is going. Just an FYI.
Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)
Will be in Kansas all week for work. Should be able to check in most nights depending on team events
Not intentionallly slowing this down, just misplaced my book
BTW, for those of you that don't surf the paizo forums nearly as much as I do, they just finally loaded another 500+ images for messageboard avatars. If any of you felt you needed a change, there are some great new pieces of artwork out there.

Sorry all, have to get into work then I will post. Basically I'll just attack once I'm within 220 feet, no potions, etc.
No worries, I'll gonkulate that out.

Ouch! Thanks for the quick reactions and saving me guys. Guess now I'll know to be a bit more 'gun shy' of dragons :)
All, I'm moved out of my house and will soon be moving to Ohio ... I'm pretty good at keeping up with my ridiculously oversized phone, but if there're some delays over the next couple weeks as my wife and I close on the new house and get settled, you'll know why.
I've added an "Actions in Combat" reference to the Campaign info tab for those of you interested. The Yes/No after the action is whether or not it draws an attack of opportunity.

I was pretty sure Epik got that crystal that lets him put on the armor for free. Magma got the boots, I got the cloak, we sold the dagger and Dalamus got the mask and Nowzai got the slippers of spider climb and Nemoris took the sword and the non magical platemale.

I also remember Epik taking the gem. I'd take it too if he isn't using it. Full plate is a pain to get in and out of :) My armor was magical as well.
I'm thinking of whether to allow this creature to speak Undercommon or not. Give me some time to consider. Inputs welcome.
Male Human Wizard (Conjuror) 10 / Loremaster 4
I'd say it depends on how much these things interact with the other Darklands denizens. If its rarely, maybe only a handful of them can speak it, or they don't deign to because its a slave race language...
Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)
I agree with Dave on this one (I know right?)
With your saying they are alien, there is just no reason they would have learned undercommon. I mean, maybe one or two of them, and honestly the gatekeeper/boatman might be one of them but I just don't see them trying to learn any other language since they believe all other races are slaves.

Hey Tike,
I should have armor on when we cross, my whole intention was to remove the plate and then armor up with light/medium so I wouldn't drown if we got into combat during the trip across the water.
Just took 2-3 posts try try and figure out if Dalamus is wearing the +1 mithril chain shirt or not. If he isn't, then what I was trying to do was put it on before we took off, or use his old armor that it replaced if he is using it.
That work?
Also, Epik or Magma, someone use that stone! If no one else will I'd love to have it, but for you guys especially it really cuts down on that armor equip time.
Got it, so you put the mithral chain shirt on before you crossed? I'm good with that.
Yup, and that stone turns donning armor into a move action. Still can be used for one of them right now ...

i would say Either Epik or Nemoris take the Crystal because they are both using plate.

Epik will take the crystal - thanks.

I actually start work tomorrow, so I'm gonna go ahead and wait for Nowzai to post tomorrow before moving forward with the next round and spend a few moments studying up tonight to prep for the general.
Male Teifling Bladebound Magus 13 (AC 29 / Hp 127/ Init +7 / Fort +13 / Ref +14 / Will +13)
So is prepping for the general mean we are fighting something called 'the general' soon, or does it mean that you are prepping for a RL general tomorrow :)
Anyone else I know if they said this it would be 100% an in game thing, with you...well it could go either way.
