I have these two auras and have not used them because I am not sure if they would stack.

Aura of Protection (12 rounds/day) (Su) 30 ft aura grants Energy Resistance 5 and a +2 deflection bonus to AC.

Deflection Aura (12 rounds, 1/day) (Su) 20'r aura grants +2 AC and +2 CMD

Good point.

Siolad continues to struggle to overcome his opponent's magics. Fortunately it proves the perfect distraction as Krojun is able to upend the old man where Pirknok and Jessamy tear him to pieces with their blades.

Seconds after his destruction the ancient figure's remains turn to ash and blow away on an unseen wind leaving nothing but his tattered robes behind.

The young Varisian looks around for any fil, flac, phyl, lich thingies.

Jessamy's search uncovers no additional liches or lich-related paraphernalia. She does notice a well-concealed seam at the rear of the closet she's standing that turns out to be a secret door!

Inside the hidden chamber are three ancient sarcophagi. The layer of dust within the room suggests that nothing has stepped for in this room for ages.

Realized I wasn't clear above; I used two charges from the wand to get myself to almost full health.

"You guys might want to back up. There's a trap here. Hopefully I can fix it, but if not, it could blow up or something."

Once they've moved away, Jessamy will see if she can figure out these runes. As she prepares, she uses her touch of good on herself again.

Disable Device (+6 vs. traps): 1d20 + 21 + 6 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 21 + 6 + 5 = 49 considering this probably takes more than a round to disable, I'm not sure touch of good will help since it only lasts 1 round, so -5 depending on what you rule.

Pirknok nods somberly and shoos the rest of the group out of the room and around the corner, staying in the hall to keep a protective eye on Jess.

Jessamy skillfully disables the magical trap and whatever doom it would have brought down upon the party.

Once it's deemed safe the party is free to search the sarcophagi.

Number One:
Within this sarcophagus are a number of incredibly dense ancient spellbooks (11 in total). No doubt this was the lich's pride and joy.

The spellbooks in total contain thousands of spells. For any given spell there's a 100% - (5% * spell level) chance of it being found in one of the 11 volumes. For example: There would be an 90% chance they contain glitterdust but there's only a 55% you could find Wail of Banshee in the spellbooks' pages.

Number Two:
This sarcophagus contains a king's ransom worth of gems, ancient coinage, and assorted treasures.

Number Three:
This sarcophagus is empty save an assortment of magical glyphs etched all across its interior.

"...well, I think we just found the lich's phylactery, folks." Siolad glares at the sarcophagus.

He starts examining the glyphs in greater detail, trying to determine the best way of destroying it.

Siolad recalls that magically phylacteries are incredibly resilient - near invulnerable. Physically, they're only as durable as the materials they're composed of.

The phylactery can be smashed to bits but it'll take a couple minutes.

Pirknok grins at Jess, relishing the thought of preventing that undead monstrosity's return. Gripping his katana tightly, he motions everyone back and hacks powerfully at the sarcophagus!


Between the sarcophagus's size and magically reinforced construction the lich's phylactory is quite resilient but it's nothing before the dwarf's starmetal blade and dogged persistence. Two minutes later it lies in sundered pieces and the feeling of menace that the party was only dimly aware of fades away.

"Good job!" Jessamy says with a smile, looking around at the destruction. "We should probably explore the rest of this place, though, right? We can come back here and collect this later..."

Unless Siolad wants to try to find a specific spell or something now. We could also rest here if our spellcasters need it. If not, and we've fully explored this area, head to the north of F2.

Pirknok smiles softly at Jess' praise, and nods in agreement with her words. After a moment he turns to Ensu and Siolad. "Can those things have more than one of the... flactory things?"

Siolad recalls that it's possible to have multiple phylacteries but the talent needed to do so is impossibly rare. The only known case of it being successfully done was a Dark Lord Voldemort who managed to secret away his soul into six different vessels.
