Greetings,
I've recently come across Purple Duck Games' Purple Mountain and I'm looking to recruit a group in order to run through it. At the moment, three of the twenty levels are available but I'm looking to run it from beginning to end.
I'll be setting it in the Five Kings Mountains region, but this isn't an indicator to create a Dwarf, it just happens to be a handy place to put the dungeon.
I'm looking for well-constructed characters, with enough background and description to let me really get a feel for the characters.
- Two traits, both of which must match up with the background presented.
- Average starting wealth for class.
- A character sheet is not required, however I'm looking for a well thought out concept with background, description and personality. Make me feel like I know the character.
- The adventure will begin in the city of Kerse, in the Kalistocracy of Druma.
From a player point of view, I'm looking for dedicated players who are capable of posting at least one detailed post a day. I generally run games as the rules dictate but for play by post, I make one exception.
Group Initiative: I take an average initiative across the group and then roll for the group and each group of enemy combatants. This determines initiative order. When it is the turn of players, posts are taken in chronological order. This can mean that between turns, players will act at different times within their turn but reduces any requirements for ret-conning posts.
Closing date will be the 31st of December 2012, with a view to starting on the 3rd of January 2013.

Draegar Ironhide |

Draegar Ironhide submitted for critique.
Draegar is a front-line combatant who will make an impressive meat-wall as the game goes on.
His background is a little convoluted. The short version is that he's a Duergar refugee taken in by a dwarven clan and given the chance to prove/redeem himself. He's decided that the best way of doing that is to serve someone of greater moral fiber than himself.
His outlook is something like that of a samurai. His primary motivation is loyalty and the desire for self-improvement.
The Bellowpiper clan is really just a placeholder name. The details of his adopted clan are open to any changes that suit the story.
The character in the party who has the most upstanding moral code will probably be the one Draegar has decided to serve. I'll wait until group is chosen before delving further into that relationship.
If you have any questions or comments, please tell me.
As for myself, I'm dependable and experienced. I write well and work well with others. If you pick me you won't be disappointed.

At the moment, we seem to be lacking applications for full arcanists and divine characters. For any new applicants you may want to consider those classes that offer these as options.

Breksken Recknir - Dwarven Cleric of Torag
The Recknir family has consisted of craftsman since before the Dwarves began their trek towards the sky. Son after son would be raised at the forge, century after century. Breksen, however, never quite took the lessons in as well as his forefathers had. He could theorize what his goal is and create a simple and function product, but his unsteady hands could never quite achieve the intricacy his family desired.
Fortunately, his ethic and determination were well-received by the clergy of Torag. "Not all are intended to toil at the forge. Some are intended to show the others that the flame is something to control and admire; not fear or abuse." It was with that that Breksen began his training into becoming a clergyman.
While being a devout of Torag does insist upon creating at any given moment, Breksen shows his faith through the creation of stratagem in lieu of the forge (though will not turn down an opportunity to try his hand now that he's found his place with his deity.)
Breksen can be found traveling the outlying region, spreading his faith where he can. Traveling companions might consider him a bit of a stuck-up when it comes to faith, but never bosses anyone that "doesn't need it." One such possible stop for him is the Drumish capital, where the flow of money from the Prophets' hands often overshadow the value of the creation of their goods.
Stats and gear will be more fine-tuned closer the end of recruitment and I'll make a profile for him if he's selected. Here's what I got hammered out now, though.
Alignment:LG (and could be considered a little too strict outside of Dwarven society, but does not impose it on others)

I'm interested! I'll be making a Debuffer/Support Witch. If wanted, I'll get to work on a full character sheet with equipment and such.
Larrikin the Taldan Human (N Medium humanoid)
with
Peter the Rat (N Tiny animal)
He's a native of Kerse in Druma. I'm not very familiar with the region so I've just done generalizations for his character history.
Stats
Str 10
Dex 12
Con 13
Int 20 (18 + Human Bonus)
Wis 10
Cha 8
Race: Human
Class: Witch
Familiar: Rat (+2 Fort)
Patron: Insanity
Race Traits: Bonus Feat, Heart of the Slums (+2 Sleight of Hand, +2 Stealth, +4 Survival in Urban/Underground, roll twice and take better against disease saves)
Traits: Deft Dodger (+1 Ref), Poverty-Stricken (+1 Survival, Class Skill)
Feats: Extra Hex (Cackle), Extra Hex (Misfortune OR Healing)
Skills: Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (nature), Knowledge (planes), Perception, Spellcraft, Survival, UMD
Languages: Abyssal, Common, Draconic, Dwarven, Infernal, Undercommon
Known Spells: All 0th; 1st: Charm Person, Cure Light Wounds, Ear Piercing Scream, Ill Omen, Mage Armor, Mount, Unprepared Combatant, Unseen Servant
Usual Prepared Spells: 0th: Detect Magic, Read Magic, Stabilize; 1st: Cure Light Wounds, Ill Omen, Mage Armor OR Cure Light Wounds x3 (if without other healer)
Hexes: Cackle, Evil Eye, Misfortune (OR Healing)
Weapons: Dagger, Sling
Armor: Armored Kilt (+1, 0% Arcane Failure)
Other Gear: Scroll of Cure Light Wounds, Scroll of Identify, Cheese, Miscellaneous Knickknacks, Travelling Equipment
Most are put off by his odd behaviour if not his ugliness. He fidgets constantly, perhaps out of nervousness or restlessness.
Larrikin is generally a coward and avoids confrontation when it can be helped. He sees the world as a dangerous place and the people in it as capable of hurting him. He's suspicious and slow to trust.
He doesn't see why he should pull his punches when the world won't be so kind and won't hesitate to run or bend his morals for his or Peter's safety. He's not particularly liked and has few friends, if any, aside from rats.
He follows Peter's advice and seeks affirmation from his best friend, learning more about his powers from him. He can come across as crazy due to his persistent mumbling and addressing of Peter, who may not even seem to be in the vicinity. His only other motivation is to survive.
Larrikin, known as Lar, was a poverty-stricken orphan in the city of Kerse in Druma, where wealth was everything. He lived in the slums and survived through begging and rummaging through garbage.
Most ignored the dirt-ridden child, acting like he was invisible. His childhood was lonely and he developed the habit of talking to the rats, which were plentiful where he lived, but more often than not himself.
His first true friend was Peter, a rat who he fed and thereafter stayed with him. Eventually, he began to believe that Peter was special because he outlived all the other rats and didn't even look old.
His belief was only cemented when Lar was attacked by a drunk who accidentally tripped over him, beating Lar up until Peter bit his assailant along with a sudden swarm of rats.
After Lar recovered, he started trying to find out more about Peter, forging a deeper bond with him. He continued to beg and rummage through garbage but started following what he could now sense was Peter's advice, a general feeling of what he should do.
It prompted Lar to gain knowledge; some from books or observation while others he doesn't know how he knew but suspects it has something to do with Peter.
He found he could cast spells with Peter's help and there was something strange in him that let him seemingly create bad luck and misfortune on those he wished.
Larrikin stayed in the city while he learned more about himself, feeling that Peter thought he should even when he feels the urge to move somewhere else. He's stopped begging, relying more on searching through garbage for items and valuables and trading them for food and money.

Heroden |

Hello all,
I would like to throw my character - Heroden - into the mix. He is a traveling cleric of Desna, aiming at support and second line combat.
Crunch and basic backstory are in the alias link - both the mechanics and the concept are something I am looking forward to play with so I will leave any comments on it up to you DM Eunson.
Cheers.

Okay...adding a 'final' post here to say character is near enough done that she's ready for a proper looky at and comments appreciated. Due to me being in a different time zone and working bad hours, I probably won't get to post again till after the Dm's cut off time.
Her first level is basically going to be a lot of running and tumbling about and not actually being able to hit anything...:P
Am hoping the later levels add some punch to her.
Very much best cheers and good wishes to every one into the new year! (^_^)
