'Bossy' is an understatement! That's why she's here in Kintargo. She's so bad, her family in Korvosa knocked her out and tied her up...and then paid a captain of a ship not to let her go until they reached Kintargo! =)

Finding the right sunny spot in the correct part of the Temple Hill district was tough, but not impossible.

Immediately Merelda offers what little advice she can to her fellow daytime conspirators.

"Morri? Talon? Val? See what you can scare up on the gang or their leader. I'll stay here and watch this area they frequent to see if there are any patterns to their movement and I will try and support you if you need it?"

She will then proceed to lay out her blanket and begin preparations to do Harrowings for those who pass by.

Temple Hill is the highest point on Argo and the original site of Kintargo’s Temple of Aroden. Other faiths followed suit, building their temples on the central hill’s slopes, but after Aroden died and House Thrune established the church of Asmodeus as Cheliax’s state religion, the face of Temple Hill changed. Some of the old churches have been converted into government buildings, but a few temples of other deities remain. They pay a stiff tariff to House Thrune—a monthly fee designed both to pad government coffers as well as ensure that no one temple can ever afford to challenge the church of Asmodeus. By allowing a select few of these smaller churches to continue to operate in Asmodeus’s shadow, the government helps to curb outright rebellion and foster just enough hope to keep most citizens compliant

Temple Hill district harbors the Grand Cathedral of Asmodeus and the local temple of Zon Kuthon both. Yet the Ravens' don't wish to infiltrate such institutions and avoid them, concentrating on the eastern parts of the district, where the Red Jill's base is supposed to be located.
After a while Lirotha, Valrani, Morricone, Oren, Rocco and Talon find themselves face to face with a burly man clad in a red cloak. He greets Talon identifying him as the leader of the group:"Welcome to our little part of town" he says "Here to enjoy some of the most refined pleasures Kintargo has to offer?" he says in a pleasant tone.

Despite his tough words and cool demeanor, Rocco is beginning to sweat quite a bit, and curses himself inwardly for not calling Kurglunn and trying to put him in disguise or something.

@GM: Is there some reason the thug on me is getting a +1d6 damage? If that's his sneak attack dice, then I'm neither flanked, helpless, nor flat-footed (my Dex is fine?). Also, sneak attack dice do not get multiplied with a Critical Hit. If that is true...I should be up and at +3 hit points...?

But the GM said I made my Sense Motive check! So I wasn't surprised. I knew the fight was coming! You are only flat-footed if you are surprised! Right? Unless he was attacking from invisibility?

In all my years of Pathfinder, I have never had any GM use that rule. It just does not make any real sense.

Honestly, I've never not seen the rule as the DM played it.

I tend to play that unless there is a really good reason why not. Two forces that both know of each other and both expecting battle with no chance of surprise for example - it just doesn't make sense. But where there is any chance for a misunderstanding...

As Rocco stated you are flat footed until you act. I know you made your sense motive check (that's why you got a +4 to your initiative check), you were aware of the ambush (the moment you were surrounded most of you were I'd reckon) unfortunately the rule is pretty clear and you weren't able to act in initiative yet, so you were flat footed. And yes they have sneak attack.

Yep, I made a mistake with sneak attack damage so Lirotha is still conscious with 1 hp and can act

Any chance I could retcon my 5ft step then since Lirotha is still conscious? I wouldn't want to block her potential escape route if she's still standing and wants to back up to cast a spell or something.
