Sorry for the lateness of this, but I'll be away this weekend and unable to post (and not next weekend, as I'd thought, hence the short notice).

If it happens before my return on Monday, next round, Zeph would use a move to study the elf next to him, then attack (only using a studied strike if the elf is looking weak, otherwise going with the +2/+2 from studied combat)

I was aware that the Light spell cancels Darkness, and vice versa, but given that the gems also cast light as per the spell, that would mean two instances of Light versus the one Darkness, wouldn't it?

--that is, unless I read the spell wrong?

In the light vs. darkness battle, the highest level spell automatically kills lower level spells. So you can have dozens of light cantrips or orisons and a single level 2 darkness spell will suppress them all. (And why I'd rather pay extra for a clerical continual flame item...)

Right. I was once in an annoying battle with darkfolk who could spam Darkness at will so it was red light-green light.

Rezol loves it after round 1 (once he's got his buffs going). People can choose not to accept it, so there's literally no reason not to use it for important fights (or most of the time, for that matter).

The only real problem is that it appears our elf buddy is about to fly the coop, so it's probably too late to worry about it for this fight. :3
