Backstory:
Born as one of many children of a minor Taldan noble house, Appario suffered the same curse of almost all of his brethren: he was not the oldest, nor close to it. His parents did what all good Taldans do with their excess offspring...put them to good use politically. Seeing that Appario always had a knack for skulking, a quick enough mind for numbers, his parents 'gave' him to the Church of Abadar.
Of course the training with the Church of Abadar has a price...it always does as it always should. The Abadaran clerics held up their end of the bargain: Appario was trained in the arts of merchantry, trade, and appraisal. The Abadaran military taught Appario the how to fight, hide, sneak, plead, and bluff so that he might help protect and recover the assets of the Church. For 5 years, Appario was trained by the Church. When his training was over, it came time for Appario to repay the debt. And the Church hasn't made the task an easy one: go to the town of Westcrown in Cheliax and help the Church protect their trade and expand their business in town. Appario has little love for Cheliaxans, nor much desire to leave Taldor, but as the Church taught: a deal is a deal. Appario will uphold his end of the bargain (though it is his parents who truly made it) and made the best of his situation. Appario still resents his parents for their decision, but tries not to hold the Church at fault. After all, they have treated him fairly and he *does* enjoy some of the activities of the Church: spying, the thrill of a negotiated deal, or collections. Appario likes to give to a personal touch when collecting from those who are in late payment...it feels good to have a contract fulfilled. It just feels right. Appearance:
Typically Taldan, Appario is 5'10" of medium build with his fathers black hair and aristocratic nose. He carries his mothers brown eyes and her easy personality and quick laugh.
On the Church's business such as negotiating a trade or dealing with court matters, Appario will dress in his clerical vestments. On other business, like collecting usury on a deliquent loan or guarding a precious tradesman stall, Appario will dress in quick leathers in the colors of the Church. For afterdark activities, Appario will dress in darks: dark leathers, cloak, and boots. His usual weapon is a bastard sword draped right to left over his back and the weapon of his god, a dagger, at his belt. He sports the holy symbol of Abadar over his left breast, but it is stationed for easy concealment under his cloak when needed. Old Gold stuff, ignore:
