DM B's PFS PbP Game Day 3: S0-03: Murder on the Silken Caravan (Inactive)

Game Master Beckett

Volunteers are needed to escort the body of a deceased venture-captain across the parched Qadiran desert to Katheer. The Silken Caravan offers passage, hauling exotic treasures across the perilous sea of sands. You'll brave bandits, spies, and unwelcome mourners hell-bent on paying respects to your dead companion. Worse still, the caravan's mistress, a satin-swathed Qadiran princess, has designs of her own on you and your cargo.

Open Recruitment thus far. I'm also just now registering the game.

Looking for proactive players that can post around 1+/Day, (understandably less on the weekends and holidays).

Game will be held on the Paizo boards, and I will require a character sheet on this site, with at least the basics, and to look at a full character "sheet" in some fashion.

I'll be utilizing interactive maps through Google Docs, and also issuing a PDF chronicle sheet at the end. Willing to work with players, as well.

I might roll up a burn rider for this.

Liberty's Edge

Hi,

Is Dervish Dance (feat) from "Qadira, Gateway to the East" legal for PFS?

Definitely thematic. Just wondering.

Thanks,
Torr

Dark Archive

I just need to update this guy's character info after his last mission, and he's good to go.

Shadow Lodge

Dervish Dance is legal. Its been reprinted in the Inner Sea Guide, but dont think it changed.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks. I'm totally new to PFS.

How do levels work? I mean party/table-wise? Assorted levels?

If you click on the Pathfinder Society icon, there are a number of free resources. Oh yes, and welcome to PFS.

Scarab Sages

Hi would like to join with my level 2 ninja.

Shadow Lodge

Ill help you out more when I get home. Welcome to PFS.

Each scenario has a level range. This one is 1st - 5th, so all characters in that range my play. Once we have a full table, we will see if we play up or down. At the end, you will get a chronicle sheet which can give up to 1 xp. Every 3 xp you get, you level up.

Grand Lodge

I would like to play too, if possible. I can play with a new character or with (if i end the PbP game) with a Figher2 Wizard1 elf. I can send the character porfolio with hero lab if needed.

i can not remember, how easy will it be to buy a proper horse later. Will I have to do anything more than save up and spend the gold when I have it?

Shadow Lodge

I know there is a Vanity for that, and it sort of depends on how much you want. I want to say it can range from 5PP to 45PP off the top of my head.

From a quick look, it seems we have 5 so far. So, assuming that's correct, you are all in. Please post which characters you are going to play so others can also choose what characters they want, I can start to look over them, and any new players might have a better idea of what they might want to play.

Burn Rider Barbarian, probably human or half elf.

Scarab Sages

Lev 2 human ninja

Grand Lodge

If i can´t play with the L1 wizard L2 fighter I will use a L1 Cleric. I think in the next days I will end the scenario.

Liberty's Edge

I think you can play with whatever you'd like. I'm a level 1 Inquisitor of Seranrae.

I would encourage the cleric, only so that we have a healer. But play whatever you want.

Grand Lodge

It´s my first cleric so don´t expect too much. Name Greldon and specialized against undead.

Shadow Lodge

By all means, play with what you want. Some advice though, from someone that both likes to do the same sort of thing and has both run and played in a lot of scenarios. Clerics vs Undead just doesn't work well. Levels 1 - 3ish, it kind of works fine. But after that, you just can't keep up and that's if you max out all of your options. I have a 9th level Cleric that devoted a huge amount to fighting Undead as a theme, including Favored Class, Feats, Domains, and the like. The thing is, you don't actually typically fight many Undead, especially after Season 2 or so, and if you do, they tend to be the main BBEG and your Channeling just doesn't touch them. It's sad, but that's kind of the reality of the Cleric. Paizo kind of hates them. In PFS, they work best by being not very "clericy".
That doesn't at all mean that you shouldn't play one. It just means that I highly suggest you take some time to plan out what you want to do with them and take as much advice as you can on how the game actually sort of plays.

Grand Lodge

Well, that happens but if the name does not ring a bell i will tell you that is the character on the Dungeons and Dragon Tower of Doom. The default name is greldon, but well it´s true that undead are not a usual enemy, and it´s possible that i will change the concept on the next level (using the option before leveling up) but for now i am using that concept.

Got room for one more?

Shadow Lodge

Thats fine. I think that post came out a bit more doomy than I meant.

Grand Lodge

Don´t worry. Next week i am going to play among the living on table so greldon will wait for that and Sylphy would play this one. If possible.

Shadow Lodge

Don't get me wrong. Not at all trying to discourage you from playing whatever you want. I just meant that Channeling tends to not keep up well after about 3rd level. Honestly, clerics (holy warriors) tend to be my favorite classes. On the other hand, a cleric can be pretty amazing in Among the Living, though.

Sorry, you posted right before I did earlier and I missed it. Let me ciunt up who all is playing and if there is room you will be in

Grand Lodge

In fact i am going to use it to play among the living and among the dead in the table game of the PFS Madrid next weekend. I do like to play againt the undead.

Shadow Lodge

1.) Nohwear -> Barbarian 1
2.) Torr Gar -> ? 1
3.) Idemi N'josk -> Summoner 4
4.) Hisao -> Ninja 2
5.) Sylphiette -> Cleric 1
6.) VinGoodman -> ?

So far, it looks like 1 + 1 + 4 + 2 + 1 (+ ?) = 9 (+?)
9/6 = 1.5

Even if Vin brings a level 5 character, (max for this), it would be 14, divided by 6 = 2.3, (which means we are playing lower Tier).

Can I get everyone (that hasn't) to start posting their actual characters so we can take a look at what all we have. If you are still building it, that's fine, and if you would like any help or suggestions, I don't mind, (and I'm sure others will not either).

The Exchange

With a short a. Right now I am posting for easier editing.

EDIT: I am now working on equipment.

The Exchange

How much of my horse do you want me to stat out?

Dark Archive

If the game is going to be low tier, I'm gonna bow out summoner playing down in season 0 seems like overkill.

And I am bringing a wet behind the ear level 1 noob. I have a 2xp level 1 ranger in real life. May try a wizard (or bard) here.

Grand Lodge

I have my character with Hero Lab on the web. I can send you the porfolio if needed, or the pdf by mail.

Where you going to bow out completely or switch characters? There is always the option to play another character or to play a pregen and give credit to this character.

Gashgamer wrote:

How many horses do you have? Do they have different stats? Are you planning on using them for combat?

In PFS it's generally considered bad form to have more than one pet, because it bogs down the game fore everyone else. Not saying you can't, but from my personal experience, it's usually better to only have one pet, because a lot of scenarios take you to environments where they tend to suffer more than players, (climbing, deserts, cold, hell, etc. . .), or they forget that area affect spells hit pets too. Another major factor is a lot of times you need to leave your pet behind because they ether just will not reasonably fit (dungeons) or are not allowed inside (buildings, houses, etc. . .).

However, you can buy multiple pets and leave them at home, so to speak.

If you open up the character in herolabs, and hit file, select Output Hero Statblock.

Then select BBCode.

Go back to Paizo and click on your character's avatar, then hit edit.

Go back to herolabs and hit Copy.

Past that in your paizo character and it does all the work for you.

The Exchange

I only have the one horse, I am confused as to how I gave the impression of more then one. Yes, I plan on riding him into combat and hopefully he will be the same horse I bond with when I hit level four.

That's perfectly fine. Just let me (and others) know what you need, if anything, and I'm sure we will all be willing to help. :)

My mistake, I misread it to say "How many of. . ." rather than "How much of".

I would say then it's "basic combat/adventuring stats", it HP, Saves, AC, Attack and Damage, and maybe any important skills or gear.
What I typically do it put it in a small spoiler at the bottom of the character sheet, but I'm not too pick on how anyone formats their "online character sheet", as long as the info is there and not too hard to find.

That´s been done. Just by clicking on the photo you will see it. Any mistake, wrong feat, trait, or any other error, help or suggestions are welcomed.

Shadow Lodge

Looks good. I wasn't sure if you knew or not. :)

Liberty's Edge

I know this doesn't happen much in PFS, but it feels right.

Do we want a wizard? Seems we have fight, rogue & divine covered.

And, Toppling Spell legal?

Shadow Lodge

Toppling Spell is, as far as I can see.

Does that mean you're bringing a wizard? Does it matter if we end up with 2 of them?

Shadow Lodge

Nope.

Liberty's Edge

Whatever you want.

Sweet. If there are two wizards...perhaps we can arrange a spells exchange this trip :) I'm thinking a blasty-blasty evoker type. Gonna see if I know enough to conjure up a competent one for this trip. What's the deadline for the character sheet?

Dark Archive

Bow out completely, I'm afraid. Best of luck.

Liberty's Edge

Nope, you go Wizard. I've to work today, but should have something soon/tonight.

Not a Wizard, perhaps 1st level Summoner.

Liberty's Edge

If there is a space with the dropout, I have a first level inquisitor with two chronicles that would love to investigate a murder.

Liberty's Edge

Actually it looks like Gashgamer is in ahead, I wasn't reading carefully enough. :-(

Are you in a game yet? This is my second for this, and I would be happy to drop out for you if you so.
