Jakscar follows Angelica, careful to tread where she had. Before also dropping into his customary position, eyes trying to scan ahead, but blocked by Angelica.

Angelica stepped onto the pathway, which creaked alarmingly as she put her weight on it. It held, though, and she almost stepped into the alcove. Almost. What was it that bugged her about that convenient niche? And then she saw it, the barest scrape on the stone floor. It looked as if this was actually a two-part trap. Anyone that tried to jump into the niche to avoid the floor trap would get pushed off by the back wall of the niche, and perhaps even smashed into the far wall.

Angelica called the results back to the others, then continued on. She made it to the far side, though the floor bent several inches under her weight. It looked safe for the two small folk and Fang, and possibly for Jakscar, but she had her doubts about Harbug's weight.

Shabbezz held her breath as she crept along the passage after the others. She knew all too well that if she triggered a trap she was unlikely to dodge it in time. If her skin wasn't constantly clammy anyway, she definitely would be sweating bullets right about now.

"Shall I lighten the orc's weight a bit?" Zaphomil asks, casting fly upon Harbug, then confidently striding across the trap after Shabbezz.

Outwardly Jakscar appears calm as he carefully steps across, however the alarming creaking worries him and his pace definitely picks up as he nears the other side.

Crossing safely, he pats Angelica on the shoulder with a smile. "Nice work, maybe not just a pretty face!"

Angelica smirks and delivers an obviously fake eyelash flicker of fawning over the compliment from Jakscar. Turning as soon as everyone is safely across, she continues on down the hallway.

The hallway beyond the trapped area was very narrow, and ended in a closed wooden door. Angelica inspected the door carefully, and was fairly sure there were no traps on the door, though it was locked.

Angelica holds up a single finger, indicating that she only needs a brief moment, as she pulls out her set of picks from her haversack. With a few clicks and tinks, she considers her work done. Putting the tools away, she draws Silverfang and indicates to Jakscar that the door is ready to be opened.

Shabbezz stands with the others as she waits for Jakscar to go through. If it seems safe, she will follow afterwards.


The door opened to reveal a large room with an alcove at the far end, and an opening to the south. The alcove contained two columns carved to resemble a familiar beautiful woman. The north wall had a mural of the same woman atop a towering pyramid. The details were hard to make out though, as the painting had been splashed with dried blood. Dried blood and gore also covered the floor of the room, which stank of the rotting flesh.

Angelica let's out a groan as her shoulders slump and she rolls her eyes so hard her head rolls with it. "No, not more statues. You've got to be kidding me? We've fought darn near every statue we've found so far." She scrutinizes the room from over Jakscar's shoulder, looking and listening for sign of any enemy at all, specifically any that may be part of the statues.

"Gods, that smell... Wherever this mess was must have died fairly recently."

"Quite disgusting. Let's hope it wasn't these statues that caused this carnage." He studies the statues as well, looking for signs of blood on their hands and arms.

Scanned from the doorway, Jakscar is reluctant to move in. Pulling himself together as onwards is the only likely way out, Jakscar moves forward to support Angelica keeping his eyes on the statues.

From the doorway, you can see nothing of import on the statues, or in the room itself. The puddles of blood and gore splashed everywhere seem to obscure most of the details. Angelica moved forwards, with Jakscar on her heels, to see more. As she did, she caught a blur of motion as from thin air a creature attacked. Its scimitar bit into her side and she felt the blood flow freely. her eyes widened at the batlike wings and curving horns of her attacker. Despite everyone's watchfulness, it was Shabbezz, tooling around near the back of the group that was ready to respond first.

Hearing her cry out in pain, Shabbezz squeezes her way past the others and grabs her wand from her belt.

Move to AE-53, draw wand.

Once she can catch the barest glimpse of what attacked the changeling, she fires a volley at it, trusting in its magical properties to strike true.

Activating the wand of magic missile (29 charges remaining, CL3, range 130 feet, two missiles, no attack roll needed), both missiles to hit at the enemy at AF-48.

This is kind of dodgy, as I can only travel 30 feet in the corridor and attack in the same round, so I may not be able to see the enemy well enough from where I'm standing to hit it.

His eyes watching the statues, Jakscar is slow to react to the new threat. Reacting to Angelica's cry of pain, Jakscar moves to encircle the strange creature47AE, his mind racing trying to work out its vulnerabilities and his hands gripping his blades.
Stepping into position he lunges with his Duelling sword, but the creature's speed is hard to hit.

The blue-white missiles streaked from Shabbezz' wand as she ran down the corridor, veering around Jakscar and striking the winged humanoid on the chest. It snarled and hacked at Angelica with its scimitar, cutting two deep furrows in her arm and torso.

Huh, I thought Zaph healed me to full with that last channel. But it's right there in my stats, so I guess I was mistaken.

Once the others have moved past her and made their attacks, Shabbezz elects to remain in the hall where she can snipe while staying out of the way.

Angelica gets hit the first time in surprise, and then suffers twice more the harsh slashes of the creature. Glad to already have a weapon in hand, she stabs at the flying man. It's a pretty solid attack, but after the abuse she's already received, she isn't sticking around. She arcs into a backflip, before rolling out the door and back into the hall as a far as she can.

Angelica threw herself backwards, even as the others moved in. She thought she could get away, but that scimitar slashed in low, slicing open her left thigh as she moved. She could have sworn she hit the creature, but its naked torso seemed unmarred by blade. Several more explosions erupted on it, though, and those obviously hurt it. Shabbezz was in her element, flinging the magical missiles at the creature from behind the towering Harbug, who moved in with Fang in an attempt to get flanking with Jakscar. In return, the winged creature whipped its scimitar over its shoulder in a looping cut, slashing Jakscar deeply where neck met collarbone. The pain was horrible, and the catfolk felt his stomach twisting in response to the agony.

"Yeouch" Jakscar howls in pain as the scimitar strikes deep, but manages to control his stomach and fight on.

Ouch, half my hp! Anyone got knowledge planes? I've got a cold iron dagger if that would work and Jakscar knows.

GM, did the AoO take into account my +4 to AC from Mobility? If it changes the results, then I'm at 35 HP instead of 25, after Zap's newest channel.

As soon as there's a lot more aid in the room, and with Zap's healing, Angelica is ready to rush back in to the room to try and make a difference. She takes a long circuitous route, in order to try and move around back of the enemy.

Jakscar's blow landed solidly, but the incubus merely laughed as the sword blade left no mark on his enchanted skin. Likewise, none of Fang's attacks could even hurt the foe. The incubus rocked back to more of Shabbezz' strikes, opening a path for Angelica, but then he twisted around with ease, spinning to get around Jakscar and leaving another bleeding wound on the catfolk's arm.

"He's an outsider! And me without any more channels. Curse the luck!" Zaphomil reaches into his pocket and touches the shard, activating its magic. "Now maybe we can finish him quickly!" Then, brandishing his starknife, he moves into position to allow one of his allies to flank with him.

Haste is given to everyone in the party for 20 rounds.+1 attack and AC, +1 reflex saves, +30 movement, and one extra attack during a full round attack action. Zaph moves to square AD-48 to set up a flank with either Angelica or Jakscar.

"Well is there anything Outsiders are vulnerable to? Or will I have to towel whip him to death with my cloak?"

Dropping his useless short sword, Jakscar starts swinging his long blade two-handed in faster and faster strikes as the shard takes effect.
"Well let's see how you like this instead."

"What? Cold iron? I thought it was silver? Or was that for the Devils?" Realizing it doesn't make much difference, as silver is all she has, she accepts that either it works or doesn't. Moving up to the flank provided by Zap, and the extra speed, she tries to stab the thing again.

Everyone surrounded the incubus, who continued to fight on, mostly unfazed by the weapons, though obviously getting more than a little annoyed at Shabbezz' magical missiles. Weapons scraped from his skin, leaving no obvious damage. In return, his scimitar continued to draw blood from Jakscar, this last strike carving a deep gash to the inside of the catfolk's left leg.

Staggered by this further heavy blow and the massive blood loss, Jakscar struggles to draw in breath without vomiting.Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Stepping back from the fight he snatches a dagger from his bandolier and prepares to re-enter the fight. "I could use a little help here, before I see if the blacksmith actually sold me a cold iron blade or not." As Jakscar attempts to smile, the disconcerting blood on his teeth make it obvious he is struggling.

Slipping into the room past harbug, she moves off to the side and fires another volley before shouting her plan.

Angelica moves once more, trying to keep encircling the foe, "Stand still you sexy son of a b#&%&!", her eyes goes wide in 'oops' for the slip of the tongue. Just cause he's evil doesn't mean he can't look good. Dancing nimbly around across from Jakscar, she tries to swing a again with the only thing that will help her, a position of advantage. Her attack is smooth and fluid, but the thing is tough, and shes not even sure if she really got a good hit or not. "Can we just knock him out, or hold him down, and slit his throat somehow?"

Everyone scrambled to move out of Shabbezz's way once the magical missiles did their work, attacking the incubus as they did. Angelica landed a solid hit that actually drew blood this time, as did Harbug. The incubus spun into a gap between the two cats, trying to neutralize Shabezz' planned attack. His blade licked out at Jakscar, but the puking catfolk managed to avoid the hit.

Shabbezz begins the syllables and gestures for flamind hands, but when the incubus moves into the fray, she curses. Now that it's surrounded, there's no way that she can cast a fan of flames without burning her companions. Angry, she quickly decides to change tactics.

Sh thrusts her free hand into her spell component bag and grabs a wad of tallow, some brimestone, and a tiny flask of powdered iron. Turning right, she shouts and gestures, and a ball of of fire five feet in diameter implodes into existence.

Casting flaming sphere (CL5; Casting time: 1 standard action; Components: V,S,M [tallow, brimestone, and powdered iron]; Range: 150 ft.; Effect: 5-ft.-diameter sphere; Duration: 5 rounds; Saving Throw: Reflex negates, see text; Spell Resistance: yes).

Gesturing with her hand, she wills the flaming sphere to move left, then dart beneath the incubus' legs. Although hot, the flames do not extend to the spaces of fang, Harbug, or Jakscar.

Directing the sphere as a move action to move through Ae-49, AE-48, AE-47, AE-46, before entering the incubus' square at AF-46.

Damage (fire): 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6) = 14
Versus SR: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Not what I planned, but this is the best I can manage while it's surrounded by the party. A fireball would be better, but we'd all be dead in these close quarters.

Using his duelling sword to keep himself upright, Jakscar sucks in air as he tries to pull himself together and lash out with his cold iron dagger. However his feeble blow is easily brushed aside.

Jakscar, are you including the +1 to atk from Haste?

Angelica shifts back in to try and close up the circle around the gorgeous hunk of demon, reminding herself she's got to stop thinking like that about the enemy. Quickly she thrusts twice with her rapier, sped up from Zap's shard. Her stabs are not as precise as she would like, but she thinks she may have a good aim on the thing now.

The speed granted by the shard, gives Jakscar a chance to recover and time to stab again. This time the blade strikes true, coming under the parry, Jakscar is able to bury it deep in the demon's armpit.
"Does that burn you? Come closer and let me do it again."


@Shabbezz - don't forget that SR is for the "spell" not the effect. So it's a 1-time pass/fail chance...and an 8 failed

Zaphomil's protection spell made Jakscar feel a little better about his odds, and he swung his dagger up into the incubus' belly. The incubus looked surprised as the blade cut deeply, given that the other strikes had failed to penetrate his enchanted flesh. Even Angelica's strikes managed to find some chinks, sliding partially into teh hardened skin when she put enough force into the blows. Shabbezz' spell did not seem to affect the creature at all, who brushed the globe of fire aside as it moved to better protect itself. It lashed out at Jakscar again and scraped of the protective field that Zaphomil has cast upon the catman.

Okay, think I've got it this time.

Miffed that the incubus was able to disregard her spell with so little effect, Shabbezz tries the wand again.

Versus SR: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Damage (force), 1st missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Damage (force), 2nd missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

So frustrating! No matter where I plan to aim the spell effect he's either just out of range or someone else is going to be caught in the flames! And there's nowhere to move either. >:(
