Casimir |

"I think using the invisibility sphere while we are so close to the trolls is a risky choice. They will be able to track us by smell. Better to cut our way free and get clear of the tower before we use it." Casimir mutters to Kip.

Kip Bendybrook |

Ok. Ok. Kip may always see the positive and be confident... his player though can be a little more the sky is falling... Well in this case it really is but I digress. :)
free action speech Kip nods at Cas before responding to Malthir, Understood!
Cas is up?

Casimir |

Once again, Casimir activates his wand, this time casting the spell on himself. With his enchanted mobility, his feet find sure footing as he hurries past his allies down the last stone steps.
As he passes Malthir, he sends the baron of Kardas a grim smile, then gracefully leaps the last few steps and spins in between the rock troll and the troll guarding the southern door. Wand in one hand and aldori blade in the other, he purpously lowers his guard to draw the attention of the trolls.
Moving to where I will provoke from both trolls.

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15 Miss (Rock Troll)
Casimir leaps into the air and after he acrobatically leaps from the last few steps, he feels a sharp pain as a powerful lunge from the southern troll's longspear threatens to knock him off course mid-air as the point plunges into his hip; the brute behind the glancing blow roaring in triumph as he lands a successful strike that draws blood. Righting himself, Casimir is able to quickly duck under the rock troll's lunged spear as he lands, moving beside the much larger Kalev.
Malthir's on a delay and wanted to take an action now. Map update after the troll's.

Reminder- AOO's refresh at the start of each round.
Malthir leads the retreat, sword in one hand and the potion in another, moving quickly past the southern troll while Casimir is stabbed by it. A burst of positive energy flows over Kalev, Casimir, Malthir and two of the Trolls, who are unaffected by it.
Unwilling to drop his longspear but too close to Kalev to effectively wield it against him, the rock troll leans in and tries to bite the badly wounded Ranger; thinking him almost defeated. His surprise is total when the hardy half-orc headbutts him in his gravelly teeth and knocks the deadly teeth away and forces him back, not really doing any damage to the troll but not allowing himself to be bitten either.
Rock Troll Bite-
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 Miss vs Kalev
If dey could magic away, they woulds have magic'ed already! the annoyed rock troll declares with a stupid smile while sending a disgusting spittle of earth and mud at Casimir and Kalev. The other troll's don't seem to be convinced, and the one to the south decides that just to be on the safe side, he'd best smash the potion Malthir holds. He retreats from such close range of his sword can't 5 foot due to difficult terrain so thats a move action and is punished for the retreat by a furious Malthir, who slashes the unarmoured troll across the belly, and Kalev who swings his massive weapon which sadly glances off the troll's tough shoulder. Green, putrid entrails threaten to spill out from the belly wound but the troll shrugs off the rapidly healing wound, pulling far away enough to use his longspear in an attempt to smash the potion Malthir holds. The troll manages to smash the point of his large weapon right through the glass, shattering the glass and making the magical liquid pour uselessly to the ground. His look of triumph is contrasted against the rock troll's look of sheer annoyance as he bellows angrily in Giant-
Stupid Underbite for Brains! Your letting them through!
The two trolls to the north seem to be a bit confused by the exchange. One of them replies to the rock troll-
I will make sure Underbite for Brains doesn't let them through Kargadd!
And withdraws out of sight, probably looking to cut you off on the south side; leaving the rock troll shaking his head in seething anger at his stupid soldiers. The other troll stands his ground and plunges his spear two-handed into Kalev's mid-section with a brutal lunge- the giant Half-Orc, having already pushed himself to the limits of his racial endurance in the fight taking the keep, collapses, crashing loudly to the ground in a pool of his own blood.
I will retcon this last statement if i am incorrect in my belief that Kalev's ferocity already triggered in the fight taking the keep, I don't have time to check before I go to bed so if someone can confirm that would be great.

Kalev wakes on the ground with a start, flesh knitting itself together rapidly as he gasps in pain, his bardiche fallen on the ground beside him. Although she is hidden by magic, the rock troll seems nevertheless to be somewhat aware of her presence, its rocky nostrils flaring as it picks up an unseen scent.
Ricter moves up to join Malthir, shield now drawn.

Your managing ok without a light source on the stairs thanks to Malthir's sword and the limited opportunity to fall, but note that your vision is limited to 20 feet from Malthir (40 for low-light) normal vision and 25-40 foot vision in dim light (45-80 for low-light) thus a 20% concealment chance. Kalev has 60 feet darkvision so this is irrelevant to him.

Whatever it is hurling the rocks at the tower, it seems to be unerringly accurate. Another boulder slams into it as the roof caves in entirely on the room you were sleeping in, burying it in debris and shaking the tower from the heavy impact.

Casimir |

"Good work, Fenna. Get clear, I'll take it from here," Casimir says, when he sees Kalev's wounds close and his eyes open.
Dropping his wand, he crouches low next to the fallen ranger. Careful not to give the Rock troll an opening to strike, Casimir mutters Out of sight and touches Kalev. At once, the half-orc vanishes.

Very nice concentration roll Casimir! Bet your relieved you bought that headband of charisma now, not to mention your bonus feat... Which square are you moving to by the way?
Casimir almost loses concentration on his spell as he nearly leaves a fatal opening, but with one hand weaving a defensive pattern warding the troll off with his mithril sword and the other casting, he completes his spell. Perhaps inspired by his success, he nimbly backflips out of melee before the troll can strike him for his movement.
Reminder to all- AOO's have refreshed... Kalev i'm happy for you to pick up your weapon while standing up, its the same as drawing a weapon while moving to me (as your already prone with it anyway).

Casimir, i've put you in square G6 based on your description, let me know if thats not ok.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
The rock troll looks increasingly infuriated at how his precise ambush has gone awry.
Dance with you, ugly human? he spits out shards of rock while hissing in anger- I will instead slay your friend!
He drops his longspear, flexing his incredibly muscular rocky arms and stepping in close to where Kalev was lying. Despite Kalev's large form, the troll finds it difficult to find an effective strike on the invisible Ranger, who does his best to roll aside from the incoming claws and teeth. Although the troll roars in triumph as he finally gets purchase with a claw, the roar quickly turns to one of frustration as his powerful claw has only struck Kalev's breastplate.

1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
1d100 ⇒ 70(1-50 miss)
The troll Malthir taunts seems to have given up listening to anything the Paladin has to say, and instead figures the best way to deal with him is to stab him with all its might. Unarmoured, Malthir does his best to dodge the blow but dodging has never been his strong suit- the spear point tears through his thigh as his reflexes prove too slow to evade it.
The second troll enters the room to pursue the Guardians, but stops when it sees the rock troll fighting something unseen. It joins in, succeeding where its leader could not, tearing a chunk of flesh from Kalev's neck with a nasty bite. Kalev's state is unknown to the other Guardians, as they are unable to see his wounds.
From the west, the third troll re-appears, struggling through the undergrowth to flank Casimir, Ricter and Malthir.

DM Alexander Kilcoyne |

Smarter opponents might have realised that Casimir is drawing attention to his well armoured form in a defensive stance in order to distract them from the vulnerable Malthir and Ricter.
Trolls aren't renowned for being smart- in fact, quite the opposite. Nevertheless, as he tries his ploy Casimir is surprised by the accuracy of one of the spears levelled his way, managing to dodge and parry a couple of thrusts but one managing to nick his breastplate.

They both take advantage of the flank on Malthir to deliver two brutal wounds just as he urges himself to be the rearguard- the first spear takes him high in the shoulder, pinning him in place for a moment while the second rips through his unarmoured back, tearing through vital organs from the cruel lunge. The Baron of Kardas crumples to the ground with blood welling up in his mouth, Liberator falling from his hands and dying from his wounds.

Kip Bendybrook |

Was there another rock impact upon the tower? Oh and Kip should be last in the init order now, he delayed until after Fenna.
