Fronar repeats his previous magical volley (eldritch blast) at the remaining orc. The blast hits the orc and injuries him as ribs are broken and his nose juts sideways but he does not fall.
Dorin moves after the retreating or and attacks with his maul. The wounded orc manages to side step the incoming attack.
Suddenly the orc war-chief appears moving from the treeline, he shouts a fierce battle cry that sends shivers down your spine, he launches a spear at Fronar and then draws his greataxe and engages Kuiper. Fronar manages to jump out of the way just in time to avoid the incoming spear but Kuiper was not so lucky as to avoid the greataxe. As the large weapon cut into his ribs and chest everything went dark as the ranger fell to the ground.

Siann flicks a dart at the orc chief as she moved forward but the dart failed to penetrate the creatures heavy chainmail armor.
Athelwyn continues conjuring and hurling motes of fire at the orcish chieftain, but the grisly wound in her side seems to be impacting her ability to do so with any measure of accuracy as the bolt of fire sailed over the chiefs head.
Grommund continues to fire his bow, this time he aims at orc leader. Grazing him with an arrow.
Kuiper's unconscious body goes into convulsions on the ground, the fallen ranger looks to be in cardiac arrest and to be dying before your very eyes.
The brown bear's shape began to change as it reformed into the feral druid before your eyes. As she was already speaking in a strange tongue pointing at the fallen ranger as his body stopped convulsing and a few of his wounds closed and the bleeding stopped.
Orc #8 swings his greataxe down toward Dorin, connecting with the dwarf's stomach as a mist of red sprays forth as the dwarf stumbles back but does not go down.
Fronar sends another blast of energy forth from his palm, this time aimed at the approaching chief. The blast of pure energy hit the chief head on and the orc brute shrugged off the injury like he had just bumped into something and kept moving forward.

Dorin retreats as he staggers back along the bushes to Oleanne and Siann.
The Orc War Chief seeing the ranger at his feet magically healing up he brings his greataxe down again into the prone man reopening the wound as the ranger falls unconscious again. "Stay down" the chief mutters before springing over the body and making a bee-line for Fronar and Siann, taking up a position between the two he swings his greataxe once again, this time at the spell casting gnome. the blade of the axe slices through Fronar's ribs and into his chest cavity as the little one falls to the ground in a pool of blood.

Grommund frowns as the orc drops another of his companions. The gnome was annoying, but he had good ideas sometimes. He raises his bow and prays for better aim as he unleashes another shaft on the warchief.

The world seems to grow very still for Siann at that moment. Another comrade, however annoying, lay bleeding, the author of that wound looming huge before her.
Gathering her strength, Siann flew at the Orc War Chief, sword and hand and foot a blur as she sought out the vulnerable chinks in his armor.

With two fallen companions now Oleanne had to make a decision. She sprinted for the fallen Ranger already calling forth the last of her strong healing magic as she reached down and touched the fallen man, bringing him back to consciousness and stemming the flow of blood and closing his major wounds.
The remaining orc rushed the woman as she was healing the ranger bringing his greataxe down upon her in a mighty swing. The blade caught the woman in the back and bit deep into her flesh. The woman coughed up blood with the blow but maintained her footing.

The war chief shifts south lining up his next two targets, he swings his great-axe around in a blur, first at Siann, the blow arcs toward her head as she throws her hands up and knocks the blow away at the very last second as she could feel the cold of the steel just millimeters away from her face. He then brings the great-axe around again, this time at Dorin. The dwarf was not expecting the attack as the axe bit deeply into his already wounded hide. His vision blurred as the new wound poured blood upon the ground and then everything went black as he fell to the ground.

Siann's face reamins a study of concentration' despite almost losing her head to the chief's axe. Turning with the momentum of the axe, she spins around the orc's body, her blade seeking a weak point in his armor...but finding none. As the massive orc turns his attention to Dorin, she strikes! Her sword bites deep, but her rigid fingers, seeking the soft tissue in the armpit, glances off of hard leather.
Grommund drops his bow, and jogs forward to aid Siann, drawing his long dagger as he goes.
He fumbles the strike as he tries to shove his blade into the orc's kidney. So this is where I die, eh? Lame. F#*+in' gods! I curse you all, and Fate too!

Kuiper springs back to his feet, weapons again in hand, he swings his shortsword toward the surprised orc in front of him. The orc manages to parry the incoming blow mere seconds before the blade pierced his kidney. Kuiper used the attack as a launching point of his second as he brought his longsword around in a sweeping arc which the orc ducked out of the way of, spinning with one last hope Kuiper thrust the longsword forward this time catching the orc in the stomach as his blade slipped through his defenses, using his boot Kuiper kicked the dead orc off his blade and moved toward the war chief.
Oleanne moved around toward Fronar reaching down and touching the fallen gnome, waking him as some of his wounds healed up.

Fronar staggers to his feet and away from combat as much as his little feet will take him and then lets loose a blast of energy toward the war chief hitting it squarely with the blast but the creature shrugged it off like a giant swatting a gnat.
Dorin's body laid calmly upon the ground where the dwarf had fallen.
The Orc War Chief lets out a chilling battle cry as it brings the greataxe down upon Grommund slicing through the dwarf and falling him to the ground in a pool of his own blood, whirling around the war chief strikes Siann, ripping flesh from her bones as she falls to the earth another victim of the brutal assault.
In the pool of blood where Siann now lay her world swirled and went into blackness, calling on all her training and all her reserve she shook off the fog, down but not out her vision cleared again as she lay upon the ground.

Blinking furiously, Siann tried to maintain her connection to the consious world. Blocking out the pain from her grievious wound, she remembered a harsh lesson from her Master..."The mind governs the body, pain is but an attempt by the body to preserve itself, the mind of the unenlightened succumbs to the body's weakness, we do not. Putting down the chief might have been a simple matter were she able to bring the full weight of her grimoire's secrets to bear. She continues making due with simple pyromancy. Grommund's body thrashing violently upon the ground inching very close to death as the seizure takes hold of him.
Kuiper picks himself and his weapon up off the ground and circles to the north as he verbally issues a challenge to the orc leader as his words are laced with magic. Then the ranger leaps forward with his longsword, his overhand slice connecting across the orcs chest, his second attack in a backhand spin is blocked by the orc.
Oleanne moves and touches the seizing dwarf, calming him and healing most of his wounds as his eyes flick back open. Then she once again morphs and changes into the giant bear and moves to engage the orc and give it another target choice.

Dorrin's body begins to convulse on the ground where he lay, blood again flowing from his wounds.
The war chief howls in frustration as he is surrounded, swinging wildly he once again cuts into Kuiper with his greataxe and once again the blow drives the ranger unconscious to the ground. The orc spins and slices into the brown bear's hide next, cutting a vicious wound down the creature's side as it howled in pain.

Athelwyn's adrenaline begins to thrum low, as forming even a basic cantrip becomes more strain than she can manage. Fire forms once more above her head, wavering and flying wide of its target before flickering out of existence.
Grommund grabs his short sword, and tries to stab the orc from his position on the ground. The act is futile and just clangs against the orcs shin guards.

Seeing Kuiper fall once again the brown bear viciously bit into the orc leader's thigh and followed with a swat of its claws across its face. For the first time the orc leader staggered as blood flowed freely from his multiple wounds, his eyes clouded but he managed to keep standing even close to death.
Seeing the orc stagger Fronar called upon all his reserves and brought forth a ball of force energy once again this time hurling it directly over the fallen body of Kuiper and hitting the orc squarely in the chest. When the force hit the creature you could visably see its ribs crush inward and blood spray from his mouth as his body fell lifeless to the ground. The brute had finally fallen.

Siann lets out a long , slow breath as the Orc Chieftain falls, then her breath hitches as the pain in her side come flooding in.
Gritting her teeth, she nods at Fronar, acknowledging his death blow, one that she would have like to have landed.
She then remembers her battlefield training, an looks about for any remaining adversaries. Seeing none, she kneels by Dorin, looking the worst of the bunch and begins to wrap and tie off any of his more grievious wounds.
Seeing the last, and deadliest, of the orcs dispatched, Athelwyn turns her attention to their fallen forms. She holds out hope that some of them might have borne some curative tinctures on their persons to aid in getting her fallen companions back on their feet.

Oleanne says something to Kuiper and moves off into the darkness, Kuiper then turns to the rest of you "Lets take stock of what they had and what our injuries are. Oleanne as gone to gather herbs to make medicine for the wounded and to find any tracks that may tell us were the orc hunting party came from. It is still not light yet and I think we should remain here and rest until it is so. Grommund, Dorin if you would be so kind as to search the dead for anything of value. I will see if I can get us a fresh trail on the werebear."

Dorin rifles the the pockets and inspects the armor and weapons of the dead.
"Do we want to risk another fire, then? It could be what lured them here in the first place." Athelwyn asks, mostly to Kuiper. She eases herself down into a reclined position against a nearby tree with an audible groan, fumbling through her packs for her waterskin, which she begins nursing steadily.
Grommund lends Dorin a hand. He tisks at the filthy state of the orc gear.
Siann shrugs at Dorin and Grommund's thanks, then wincing at her own serious wound, makes her way around to each fallen orc.
She looks at each for a moment, then slides the blade of her shortsword between the ribs into the heart, ensuring they were dead.
She then takes a deep breath and joins the others in searching the orcs for valuables...

Kuiper ask that no fire be lit until they know more about the current situation. The smoldering fire that remained gave enough light to move around by at the moment.
Searching over the orc corpses and the leader you find the following items of value....

In addition, the leader has an unusual treasure-
a golden brooch set with carnelians.
All the orcs carry shields with a design of which Kuiper has never seen before in the woods. Except for the orc war chief who carries a plain undecorated shield with no design and is a different shape from the rest.

Shortly after searching the bodies rain begins to fall in the camp.
Oleanne comes back with some collected herbs and leaves and treats everyone's wounds as the group waits for the full light of the morning.
Everyone can benefit from a short rest at this time. Oleanne has healed all wounds so no reason to use your hitdice to heal. Please post any abilities you get back from the short rest. Siann sighs after Oleanne's minstrations, reaching down to touch her toes , then straightening and bringing a leg up parallel to her torso.
"Thank you." she says, then approaches Kuiper by the unlit fire.
"If these orcs are any indication of what's coming to this area...you're going to have quite the problem on your hands." she says, sitting down on a nearby log.
"Let's find your were-boy quickly, the authorities should be informed."
Athelwyn spends several minutes reading over her grimoire and tracing intricate, arcane sigils in the dirt around where she sits. Soon, her eyes begin to thrum with a soft blue glow as they turn to regard the collection of goods being gathered from the fallen orcs. After concluding this task, she asks "Didn't the old one at the inn say the orcs had been driven out by the local ruler? Or does the marking on their shields imply a new tribe has settled the region?"
