Yay! Thanks for choosing me. As for Gestalt, never done it myself but I know how. I'll go with the majority opinion on the subject.

Been a while since I got to gestalt. I'll vote for it.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

I could go either way on gestalt.

Mutant Jack who Wields Two Weapons M 13/13; S 18/18; I 15/15

I vote for gestalt.

I notice we have lots of spellcasters, but no strictly martial characters. On a quick scan, I also didn't see any trapfinders in the group. Gestalt can help with deal with both issues.

Isn't Isshash pretty much martial, from being an elemental?

Also, if we go gestalt, I'm planning to go with a Swashbuckler, to help on the martial end.

Is anyone planning on gestalting into a rogue or other trapfinder class?

Ligeia, with both of us being bard-ish classes, I'm concerned that we may fall into redundancy. Would you mind giving me an idea of how you're planning to progress so I can build something divergent enough? Thankfully, Inspire Courage and Predator's Song overlap very nicely. If I gestalt into Swashbuckler, I'll be swapping Diplomacy for Intimidate, which will allow us to similarly be more distinct for social situation. (Good cop, bad cop.)

Mutant Jack who Wields Two Weapons M 13/13; S 18/18; I 15/15

I could go two ways - Summoner and get an eidolon to help with fighting. Or Aetherkineticist and I can deal with traps. It's not quite the same as how a rogue would do it, but I can disable them from a distance.

Hey guys! Happy to be here with you!

I could go either way, but my vote is sincerely not for Gestalt. I think the campaign already has enough of the cool factor :) I wouldn't mind if we end up having more votes for Gestalt, though. I can think on something thematic later on and talk to the GM if that's the case :)

And yes, I'm absolutely 100% martial. A big vortex of punching and grappling basically!

Cheers!

Let's look at the run-down on gestalt right now.

For/Against/Neutral: 2/1/2

Actula the Herald has not posted yet, so I will wait on him before deciding further.

It looks like gestalt is the way to go with characters, as the votes go right now. The one last vote may swing it into an even tie, so we will see what Doomed Hero/Actula thinks.

Oh sure - I certainly don't want to step on toes, either. We're definitely going to be taking different directions with it, I suspect. I'm planning on going heavy spellcasting - so if you're interested in going into Martial, that should totally be fine. Given our alignments and backgrounds, I also expect you'll be more helpful to others off the bat than I will be, haha.

I think I'll change my vote to a Yes on Gestalt, primarily for this reason, though. I hadn't realised we were doing such similar classes, and I don't want you to feel obligated to go in one direction or another on my account.

For what it's worth, with Gestalt, I'll probably swap my stats around a bit, and drop into Inquisitor, Oracle, or Magus. Almost certainly Inquisitor. And then something will get dropped around 6th for the Sea Witch Prestige Class.

With three votes for Gestalt, I'm going to go ahead and rebuild Ellios as a Bard/Swashbuckler.

I'm going to be focusing him more towards the martial side, and less towards the arcane side.

(As part of that, I'm dropping Use Magic Device for Intimidate, which works nicely for Swashbuckler.)

Looking forward to starting play!

Hmmm, now what to gestalt with that won't overlap existing roles too badly.

Perhaps a rogue or something equally skill-based? We do need a trap-finder.

I thought about that, might do that.

GM, are you alright with this feat?

Also, does armor penalty affect creatures with innate swim speed? Is there a form of armor that doesn't hinder swimming as much? I haven't a clue what to do there.

... as a matter of fact, could we have a quick rundown of what parts of the aquatic physics and conditions apply or not? I doubt many of us are very familliar with the workings of aquatic adventures.

Male Tiefling Paladin (Soul Sentinel) 1 | HP 5/12 | AC 20 TO 12 FF 18 | F +4 (+5 Cold Weather) R +2 W +2; +1 Sp SLA Su from Evil Arcane; +2 Death | CMD 16 | Init +2 | Perc +2 DV | Cold 7 Elec 7 Fire 7 | Smite 1/1 | Corruption Resist 1/1 | Hero 1/3

If we go for Gestalt, I'll continue being purely martial. Already sent some suggested adjusts to our GM for approval. I'm excited to start here :)

Do we have a healer, by the way?

Female Human Oracle 5 | HP 38/38 AC 16 T 14 FF 12 | CMB +3 CMD 15 | F +4 R +7 W +5 | init +2 | Per +8; darkvision 60 | Spells 1st 8/8, 2nd 4/4 | Additional Effects:

I don't think we have anyone who serves as a primary healer, I have access to some healing spells since my spell list is that of a witch. I thought about maybe picking up oracle as my second class. Kinda a toss up between oracle and rogue just now.

Female Human Oracle 5 | HP 38/38 AC 16 T 14 FF 12 | CMB +3 CMD 15 | F +4 R +7 W +5 | init +2 | Per +8; darkvision 60 | Spells 1st 8/8, 2nd 4/4 | Additional Effects:

Having looked it over I think I'll go oracle of lore for my Gestalt class. It'll help my ac out as well as my utility.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

I'll also have a bit of healing from Inquisitor.

I've added some elements to my background to sprinkle in the Swashbuckler influence and drop a few NPC connections for the GM to use at his leisure. The main one here, for GM approval:

Quote:
Out of a need to defend himself from the occasional rowdy heckler, Ellios sought martial training in the art of fencing. Though he was unable to obtain lessons from the renowed Orsini Academy, he sought out some references on fencing from the owner and his greatest pupils and, over time, trained himself into a reasonable imitation of Orsini's own style.

Diving in!

Sorry I'm late. It's been a busy couple days. I forgot to check the recruitment forum.

Gestalt is fine with me.

Mutant Jack who Wields Two Weapons M 13/13; S 18/18; I 15/15

Okay, Put me down as the trapfinder. I'll take the seeker archetype on sorceror and aetherkineticist. I'll have trapfinding and at second level I'll be able to disarm traps from 30 feet away.

While we don't have a focused healer, we have many people who dabble in healing. I've been in groups with that and it can work well.

Thanks for picking up the trapfinding job, Skimber.

Also I agree, we should be good on healing. I'll probably be picking up Cure Light Wounds as a bard spell, myself, when I learn a new one.

A curiosity, since we have two bards on staff: Who here will regularly be making attack rolls, whether ranged or melee?

I know I will, and clearly, Isshash will as well. Who else?

If we're going to have Inspire Courage and Predator's Song going on at once, it'd be great to get some use out of them. :P

Rebuild-wise, I'm done with the exception of my equipment. Waiting on an answer to my earlier question first.

Mutant Jack who Wields Two Weapons M 13/13; S 18/18; I 15/15

I make attack rolls and would love to get morale bonuses.

HP 20/20, DHP 14/14, AC 20, FF 19, Touch 11, Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +8, Perception +7, Initiative +1 Fervor 4/4. Active Effects: Antiplague,

If we have two bards on staff, could one of them be convinced to go Skald instead? Raging Song and Bardsong stack very nicely.

We already have a certain level of nice stacking, albeit perhaps not as nicely as Raging Song and Inspire Courage.

Ellios's Inspire Courage boosts to-hit and damage.
Ligeia's Predator's Song also increases damage, which I'll admit isn't a perfect overlap, but also increases move speed.

The Skald really doesn't fit my vision of Ellios, in any case.

There, got my gestalt setup done. Decided to go oracle for it so I can double as both the full healer/buffer and knowledge person.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

Sorry Akula, Skald doesn't fit with my plans.

I think we might be fine, although the campaign seems hard in a first thought... Aquatic is never easy, plus with the Gestalt thing, it might become a nightmare without channel heals and this kind of tool. Just my two cents.

F Merfolk Siren 2 [ HP: 38/38 | AC: 16 | T: 13 | FF: 13 | Fort +2 / Ref +9 / Will +7 | Init +3 / Percept +9 ]

I believe I am entirely rebuilt.

HP 20/20, DHP 14/14, AC 20, FF 19, Touch 11, Fort +7, Ref +3, Will +8, Perception +7, Initiative +1 Fervor 4/4. Active Effects: Antiplague,

I'm not. I'm probably not going to be able to devote a solid chunk of time to rebuilding Akula until tuesday night.

Feel free to start without me.

Mutant Jack who Wields Two Weapons M 13/13; S 18/18; I 15/15

I'm complete.

I'm still waiting on the GM for some equipment questions.

I hope all is well with the GM - I'm just waiting for him as well.

*applause* I don't have time to be clever right now, but it's great to meet another punslinger.

I'm getting really concerned with our DM's sudden radio silence.

He doesn't appear to have posted in any other game either.

Still no GM. This appears to be serious.

It's unfortunate, considering it's such an interesting approach to a module which is good already. Let's keep crossing our fingers.

Yeah... Costs nothing to keep waiting, heh.
