The first zombie's swipe finds bare purchase against Galador's STEEL armor, drawing but a faint mark of blood. His brother behind him lacks the punch to pierce the battlemaster's heavy METAL armor, and Galador LAUGHS haughtily at the foe.

As Casin's healing yellow light touches Galador gently in his special places, all sign that he had ever been wounded is gone.

"Galador hasn't left! I'm right here!" Galador answers as he WADES in to the battle, his flashing blade slashing left and right, smiting about him and seeking to finish off the undead enemy!

December 26th Update

The party makes quick work of what's left of the zombie group, and the dead lumps of flesh fall still on the earth.

But the piercing sound of the screaming zombie still rings in your ear, almost haunting. And it doesn't seem to leave.

Actually, it's not that it hasn't left, you can hear another scream, almost identical, but further away.

It screams again, this time closer, maybe a minute away.

What do you do?

Victor lowers his bow as quickly as he raised it without firing a shot. "At this rate, I'll have plenty of arrows to hunt with when I finally return home!"

After he hears the piercing scream once more Victor calls out, "Let's get back on the road, if we see them, we'll deal with them but we should not waste resources hunting them down, not when greater dangers lurk".

Human Cleric 5

"It may actually be someone in need of help. Pretty much all screams sound alike."

Quieter, Casdin adds with a shudder "Except for rabbits."

Just to clarify, those are definitely zombie screams.

"Please do, but don't burn down the forest if you would. I don't want to have to war with *more* druids." jokes Casdin.

December 26th Update

The party keeps moving the sound of screaming zombies growing stronger, louder, almost as if they were the howls a storm. You can hear something coming behind, many somethings. Many ravenous somethings....

Okay, decision times. You have a few options that will determine how this next conflict might play out. You can speed up the carriage and each of you make a dex check DC 16 to not bounce out. You could stop and try to ready yourselves as best you can. You could continue normally and hope for the best. Please cast your vote, I'll go with the majority, and go ahead and roll initiatives and dex checks (if needed). I'm experimenting with making combat more fun, hope you guys don't mind.

Casdin was not a priest of the god of the sun, nor a priest of the god of death, but he was still a priest, regardless. He would stand to stop the tide of undeath following them like a proverbial plague of locusts.

December 26th Update

That's two to fight, one to run so I'll say you're staying to fight.

The wagon of goods and the heroes quickly come to a halt as the horses hooves dig into the dry earth of the dark forest trail. The party prepares themselves as the screaming undead seem to close in on their position. But they stand ready, and prepared.

Okay, you each have time to perform one full round action, and have one redied action for when the zombies come into view. I'll get the map ready, and switch you to it when combat starts.

Human Cleric 5

Casdin will call upon the blessing of Oghma to fortify his allies for the battle to come. He will then prepare to call down fire from the sky on the third enemy that stumbles into view.

Casting bless as a 2nd level spell to get everyone in the party but himself, then readying an action to use Sacred Flame on the third enemy that becomes visible, with the idea being that his allies will drop the first two. For those of you not in the know, you will get to add 1d4 to all attack rolls and saving throws while effected by Bless.

Sheva will wait for Vasilios to spread the oil and Victor to fire his arrow before unleashing the fireball into the fray. After that it's all pact blade and cantrips.

December 26th Update

Just to be informative, and not look lazy. The most of the zombies you're currently facing could be deemed mooks. Only takes 1 or two hits to actually kill them. So in the case of Casdin's holy attacks, pretty much wipes them out one way or another. Of course there are tougher zoms..."'

Through the party's efforts, another 8 zombies fall to their (hopefully) permanent rest. Galador with his steady aim actually manages to take out 3 with one well-aimed crossbow shot.

Map updated

More zombies seem to pull themselves from the woods, and those who have not been slaughtered march onward, unswayed by the show of force you all have displayed.

An unnatural movement catches your eye, and you watch as two creatures sprint unnaturally into view. They have long limbs and their skin seems almost like tight sinew pulling against all the bones in their body. But while their eyes hold the same dead light that the zombies have, their jaws water with blood, and they seem to crouch down, their gaze on their prey.

You.

All players up!
For calculating the horde, I removed 8, the ones you killed, and added from the hoard reserves and two 'special' zoms.

Each of Vasilios' stream of magical fury hit on the giant zombie, taking chunks of flesh off with each contact. It roars in fury, and the smell of burning flesh hangs in the air as it stumbles forward. You can see the sinews of its limbs barely holding together, but it stumbles forward still, barely holding together.
Vasilios, if you direct your attacks on this guy again, i'll redirect any overkill damage, unless, you know, you just want it to burn like a pyre.

Redirecting Galador
Galador, seeing the fragile nature of these vicious attackers, turns to his own attacker and begins weaving his blade, carving slabs of rotten sinew off the abomination.
