Okay, I'm well enough to sit and type again.
The treasure is:
Tsutamu ( head skeleton) had:
broken mwk chain shirt
+1 wakizashi decorated with seven shrikes perched on a curling branch depicted on the blade.
a necklace with an iron key that opens the chest
The chest looks ransacked and has streaks of dirt on the inside and what look like goblin hand prints set in dirt here and there. But left inside is:
five potions of cure light wounds, two potions of cure moderate wounds, three potions of lesser restoration, a ring of climbing, a wand of identify with 19 charges, a masterwork chain shirt, a masterwork cold iron wakizashi, 11 Desnan candles, and four skyrockets (see page 60), in addition to 3,820 sp, 421 gp, and various pieces of fine jewelry worth 560 gp total

Celestine8 |
The half-elven girl at the bar looks down at Irnk as if a particularly talkative cockroach had scuttled onto a barstool,"Wha? Offal? Try the farms on the outskirts. We serve food here. So, order something edible or don't. Ameiko, yeah, I'll go get her, she's just in the kitchen, adding her 'touch' to something back there. But, first, just to double-check. You want salmon curry, you want rice balls and the rest of you? What are you having, Shorty?"

Hijiro |

Sorry to hear you were laid up... glad you're back!
"See Irnk, she thinks nothing of you being here and being a goblin, she only wants to know what you want to eat. Order something yummy." Hijiro sits down at a table, the chest carefully stowed beneath the table, awaiting their meeting with Ameiko.
That's a fine sword, it is, but I can't use it well. I would need special training to do so. Maybe one of the others would like it unless Ameiko claims it. Ah well. It is a definite reminder of home, regardless. Maybe if no one else wants it, I will train with it. And the gold and jewels! We will be wealthy enough to buy what we want with it, that's for sure.
His eyes sparkle with a bit of avarice as he contemplates the contents of the chest.

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

Likewise glad to hear you are feeling better.
Glancing irritably between Hijiro & the barmaid, Irnk huffs. "Fine, 'something yummy'...
Please."
"Whatever you like, you must like something here otherwise why work here?" Predictably, even Irnk's attempt at amiable compliance becomes another confrontation.
Even between the five of us & whatever the Tian woman claims for herself I should be able to pay Hijiro back for the Flail & get a decent breeding pair of swine to gift the Licktoad before they go. Just hope I can convince them not to eat them...

Sienna Vhiski |

Heh, shorty... I still prefer Pintsize.
"Let's see what Ameiko has to say about these things. Jiro, um, would you happen to know what the seven shrikes mean? Is it like a blacksmith's mark or something?"

Seijiro |

[b]"Those might be the mark of a noble house or some great samurai, but I don't recognize it myself. A maker's mark is usually made on the tang of the blade, which is hidden under the hilt. Perhaps Ameiko might know more."[b]
If there's more to know here, Cele will have to fill us in, but Hijiro has no 'knowledge local' so I'm guessing no further information. I'm just giving what little I know about real world swords.

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

"That's just because Dwarves'r picky eaters." Irnk grins at Wanwa'lasse's attempted chastisement. "Food is for eating, not singing the praises of."
"If it fills my belly & doesn't try harder to crawl out than I can force it down, it's good enough for me."

Celestine8 |
Knowledge nature will get you more answers on why those birds would be on the blade. Also, Perception check for Hijiro while he checks out that blade?
The barkeep comes out with everyone's food, along with a bowl of sliced raw fish with a small bowl of some sort of black liquid for Irnk. "Ameiko says you might like this. It's called sashimi. It's delicious," she says with a grin, pointing to the vibrant red-orange, red and white pieces of meat.

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

Suspicion wars with hunger as Irnk eyes the food proffered him until a decidedly liquid, and loud, growl cuts through the common room, actually halting any conversations taking place as the patrons look up in bemusement 'til they recognize the sound of a stomach making it's own needs/desires heard. So chastised by his own body, the Goblin immediately begins digging into the repast placed before him, surprisingly neatly, although you suspect it may just be because he doesn't want any of the food to be wasted, even to his haste.

Hijiro |

perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Hijiro looks hungrily at the raw fish, but contents himself with rice for now and any meat that might have been served with it.
did he notice anything special about the sword earlier?

Hijiro |

Hijiro will open the secret compartment and look inside. why not, eh? "Hey, look at this!"

Hijiro |

"Raw fish is a rare delicacy. It was a great honor to be offered raw fish, Irnk." Hijiro flashes Irnk a smile.

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

Oh great. Now the fox-head guy is f!$%in' with me. Fine, gonna let it slide...
For now.
Irnk glowers slightly at Hijiro, but his grumbling subsides.
Well, the verbal grumbling subsides. Although the volume of Irnk's stomach's rumbling has decreased, it still provides the occasional background noise to the conversation.
"So what's in there? Wait, should you even be doing that?"
"If anything is private family stuff of what's-er-name, I figure it's gotta be something in a hidden compartment..."

Hijiro |

"It might be something belonging to her family, but it might not... we won't know unless we look. It could just be an empty compartment too. Might as well look... nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Hijiro |

"We found it... finder's keepers, unless Ameiko wants it... but until she claims it, it's as much ours as anyone's, I say. No harm in peeking." Hijiro flashes Irnk a bright smile as he looks inside the compartment.

Sienna Vhiski |

Sienna rolls her eyes at the argument though seems curious to see what is inside the compartment nonetheless. Must by Jubaryl rubbing off on her.
"You can at least have a peek can't you pintsize, a little curiosity never hurt."

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

The Goblin's eyes widen to almost twice their normal size in incredulity at your words as he begins muttering in Goblin under his breath.
"No harm?! Never hurt?! Finder's Keepers?!"
"Goblins take that attitude & they are hunted down like vermin! Humans &...
whatever Hijiro is, take that attitude & 'it's just clean fun'..."

Hijiro |

"What's that, Irnk? I don't understand... was that goblin?"

Hijiro |

"I'll be careful not to try to use it until we identify it then," Hijiro says. but it's a little late re: the compartment, since he's already opened it - we're just waiting for Cele to chime in on what's inside.

Hijiro |

"We don't know that... she only said she'd claim family heirlooms... this is an enigma so far - we don't know she'll claim it. If she does, it's all hers, but until then... " He shrugs.

Wanwa'lasse |

"Until then we'd be best served by assuming that it isn't ours. We can let Ameiko know about the compartment, but we shouldn't be prying into things that are none of our business. For all we know it's something very personal to her family and she would rather that be a secret."

Sienna Vhiski |

"Is everyone seriously complaining about that after going to ransack a cave full of skeletons that almost got one of us killed? I'm not saying we should take it, just find out what it is. You can be a little adventurous can't you?" A thought dawns on her.
Oh god I'm sounding like Sandru now... what the hell is wrong with me recently?!
Sienna looks around the room cautiously. perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
**** thinking of brothers, Jubrayl's cronies might be watching.
Sienna leans next to Hijiro, realizes that she is getting quite close to him and starts to blush.
Argh, think about that later this is important.
Sienna whispers to Hijiro.
"Make sure you don't take that out the box just look at it from there. Trust me on this one.. I'll explain later."

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

"The Licktoad were all but wiped out by walking dead men."
*ERUP* "tasty fish that... even if it is raw."
"'scuse me...
We tracked them to the caves to make certain they wouldn't be a threat to you L-"
*cough*
"You folks."
Irnk answers Wanwa'lasse's query, glaring at Sienna. "The point of going to the cave was to make certain they weren't a threat. Not ransacking it for loot!"
"If you bother to think back, I argued against bringing this stuff back in the first place."

Hijiro |

"Yes you did, Irnk, but what's the point of finding it all if we don't get to profit by it? Hopefully, Ameiko won't claim much and we will be able to split the rest among us. I'd be happy with that... I mean... there were SPARKLIES in that chest." Hijiro's eyes light up when he mentions sparklies.

Sienna Vhiski |

Sienna shrugs "Your loss if you really don't want to find out about something that almost got us killed. I'll cease arguing now as we'll just go around in circles and I don't want to waste my breath. I'm sure you don't either." Sienna mutters something in Druidic under her breath.
Mental note, sparklies are a definite thing to look out for.

Hijiro |

Hijiro flashes Sienna a smile at her support, tilts his head to one side questioningly when she speaks in an unknown tongue. "Eh?"

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

Irnk shakes his head irritably as the two avaricious compatriots continue their argument. Turning back to the barkeep, "Hey, what's keeping her slowpokeness? Reynard over there is gettin' impatient to divvy up loot & some of us are getting tired of listening to him cackle on & on about sparklies..."

Hijiro |

Hijiro just laughs at Irnk's comment. "Now now, patience. I'm sure Ameiko must have other business besides us to keep her attention. She'll be along in her own time, I guess."

Sienna Vhiski |

Sienna flashes a smile at Hijiro, "Oh sorry, it's nothing. Just thinking aloud to myself about something" She pauses turning to face the bar again. "You're going to want to know what that something is aren't you?"
She glances behind her, still being wary of those watching. She knows how to watch others all too much. Even though she never truly liked Jubrayl's way of working at least it taught her how to be careful.
"I'll tell you a bit later, okay Jiro?" Her mood suddenly changed from argumentative to happy like the flip of a switch.

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

Irnk allows himself to be distracted from his irritation by Sienna's obvious change in mood, his eyes swiveling back & forth between her & Hijiro as a smirk develops.
As surreptitiously as possible for a Goblin Paladin, probably not very, Irnk nudges Wanwa'lasse while waggling his eyebrows at the Human & the Kitsune.

Wanwa'lasse |

Wanwa'lasse looks from Irnk, to Sienna and Hijiro, and back wondering what the goblin is trying to say. Then it hits her like a sack of bricks. An oh-I-see-what-you're-saying expression replaces the one of puzzlement, before she tries to hide her amusement behind a mask of indifference. And like Irnk, probably not much success in that department.

Hijiro |

Hijiro notices both Irnk and Wanwa but returns their odd expressions with a look of total uncomprehension. He tilts his head to one side with a little frown as if questioning their uncharacteristic behavior. Finally, he returns the smirk and eyebrow waggling with a smile, still clueless as to their intent.
He turns his attention to Sienna and flashes her a smile as well. "Well something sure has those two in a strange mood all of a sudden. Glad to see them smiling at least. Did I say something amusing?" he asks, still unsure of his use of Common at times.

Sienna Vhiski |

What are those two amused about...?
"Er.. well, I don't think anything was that funny? Not saying you aren't funny, just that probably wasn't your intent and.." Sienna continues while getting more and more flustered.
Wait have they noticed? Oh .. oh no... they better shut up or I'll...
Sienna hangs her head a bit so her hair is covering her now blushing face. "Yea, well, at least we're all happy again. Our arguments can get out of hand I suppose." Sienna says trying to change the subject as hard as she can.

Hijiro |

Hijiro, curious, reads the note if it's in a language he can read. (Tien, MInkaian, Common)
glad to hear your computer is back, Cele!

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

Yay! Also glad to hear you are with us again.
Irnk's expression sours once more at Hijiro's inquisitive acquisitiveness & it occurs to the rest of you that just a few days ago you probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference.

Hijiro |

Hijiro notes Irnk's expression and smiles at him, turning back to reading, he says quietly, "Now, now, relax, we don't know who it belongs to or what it might mean unless we read it. If it belongs to Ameiko, don't worry, she'll get it."

Irnk, Prodigal of Old Deadeye |

"What if it's cursed so that only someone of the Kaijuts-whatever blood may safely read it? Then what Reynard? Are you slick enough to get that to slide off?"
"You've already caught the Blue Lady's notice once today, do you really think you've the skills to slip by her twice?"

Hijiro |

"The Blue Lady?... Well, whatever, we're sitting here safely in Sandpoint, what could go wrong?" He flashes Irnk a big smile and continues reading, innocently oblivious to any potential danger, despite the warning.
