The group carefully moves along the northeastern corridor, which quickly makes 90 degree turn to the south. The natural caverns suddenly give way to worked stone and metal fixtures. Dangling glass balls flicker and cast a weak, greenish glow across the chamber. Ahead, a series of green, tiled, wide, terraced stairs slope up to an imposing bronze door, partly torn from its hinges. The stairs bear hundreds of symbols that seem to warp and flicker.
The room itself is oblong in shape, about 50 feet across at its widest point, but narrowing down to less than 30 feet near you. From where you are standing at the room's entrance to the far, bronze doors is about 55 feet.
The reek of decay, along with a pungent, acidic smell fills the chamber. Heaps of bones and garbage are scattered about the room. On both sides of the bronze doors, numerous small idols sit in niches and nooks. Their clumsy design clearly contrasts the delicate swoops and strokes of the walls and door. Otherwise, the room seems to be empty.

It resolves itself into a naked, scrawny, humanoid creature with bulbous, red eyes, wielding a large club. It takes a wild swing at Aquila, but fails to connect with the halfling, landing 15 feet away. There it crouches down into a defensive stance, holding the club to its side and hisses at you in an unknown language.

The morlock takes a swing at Farouq with its knobby stone club. The warrior blocks it with the handle of his hammer and steps back as the creature attempts to bite his leg. The morlock then jumps back, backing four feet up one of the pillars that is supporting the ceiling. It seems to be able to climb the circular column as easily as a fly. (Full attack: club attack hits AC 15, bite attack hits AC 8; 5-foot step)
Markus watches stupidly as the creature falls from the ceiling and takes a swing at the tiny druid. "I take it that's a morlock", he muses as he closes on the creature. (Double move to get adjacent.)
After a moment of defensive stance, Takuma resolves to attack that thing. "A morlock you say? A new type enemy to face! Hurriiiiaaaaaahhhh!" Stepping between "Earthquake" and Farouq, the half-orc swings his Minkai blade at the scrawny humanoid, but the morlock simply skitters away up the column, and sparks fly as the katana hits the stone. (Move action; Attack (8) + 5 = 13, miss)
Aquila orders Garra to circle around the column and attack the morlock from behind. The eagle is able to catch the creature unawares, and he tears a nasty strip out of its hide. The druid bides his time in case someone is hurt. (Aquila: Delay; Garra: Move action; Attack 11 + 6 = 17, hit! Damage (3) + 2 = 5)
Daxter grabs his woolen cloak as he mutters words of arcane power, concentrating on the morlock. Montesquieu is furious that his first hit with the whip did not connect. His eyes glow red as he snaps the whip in the air with a great thunderous clap. The morlock has been mentally thrown off-balance by Daxter's spell. Even though it is still aware of its surroundings, it seems to not have the fortitude of mind to do anything about its current condition. (Morlock is Dazed and shaken this round.)
"Don't let it get back on the ceiling", the Shaonti barks. Being careful to avoid the wiry creature's club, Markus steps in and delivers a pair of clubbing blows. After some investigation ...
Aquila can verify that most of the bones are collected around the bronze doors, in the vicinity of the small idols in the niches. (Perception) Farouq can identify them as belonging mostly to small creatures that live underground, but does see a few humanoid bones amongst them as well.(Knowledge nature) Aquila guesses that the humanoids (there seem to be the remains of multiple here) have been killed in the last month, as flesh and other tissue is still attached in places.(Heal)
The idols look like they might be of some worth to a collector of religious oddities. There are twenty in all. (Appraise)

Markus makes no effort to help the Montesquieu butcher the morlock but says nothing to the contrary either. He seems a bit relieved when Aquila talks the half-orc out of the deed.

"Dax, can you have a look at this magic branch, I think it's a wand of some sort, but I can't determine what it does exactly. At least not without trying to activate it blindly..."
Aquila will cast guidance so Daxter can cast detect magic and take 10 for a spellcraft check of 20, which will identify wands of caster level up to 5
