Gromtheb Zugwag |
According to Paizo, you can attack from the same square as an ally using spring attack, as long as you don't end your total movement in their square. link. Gromtheb moves 7 squares per time until he reaches the combat, maybe 2 or 3 turns?
GM-jkbc |
Champs? I beleive the term is characters. :-p
Cover or no cover, saves or no saves, Ser Harris shreds the f&!~ out of the big ankheg.
Gromtheb moves back towards the group. Any reason you're not double-moving?
Quinn stands very still.
Duglan gives chase.
Captain Teemo, I mean Velinari, disappears into the shadows.
Duglan rounds the corner to see the smaller ankheg from before turn a corner in the tunnel it's digging and head right for Quinn. He also sees, further down the tunnel, another smaller ankheg. Ignore the fact that its background is black... stupid MSPaint.
The smaller ankheg bursts from the wall and lunges at Quinn, but he hears it coming and is able to sidestep it's assault.
Damage 2d4 + 1 + 1d4 ⇒ (1, 3) + 1 + (4) = 9
Grab 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Quinn Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Ser Harris Halford |
That makes 3 for me.
If the ankheg in K17 is still alive on Harris's initiative, he will expend another dose of bardic blending on it.
Weird Words Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Weird Words Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Weird Words Attack 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Weird Words Attack 4: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Weird Words Attack 5: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Critical Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Additional Critical Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Weird Words Attack 6: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Slashing damage, targets touch, cover & firing into melee accounted for, DC 16 Fort halves each hit, etc. If Quinn gets out of Harris's way, however, the cover penalty is negated, so each attack roll would be treated as though it were 4 points higher.
12 rounds of bardic whoop ass remaining.
Velinari |
Did somebody say sneak attack?
Velinari appears once more in the corridor, sliding his blade into the back of the anhkeg.
atk:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 (Hopefully against FF)
Dmg:1d4 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (6) = 9
if SA also, 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3) = 15+3 bleed
If not dead, Velinari will attempt to tumble to 17,K
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
otherwise, move to 12,N.
GM-jkbc |
Harris shreds another ankheg.
Gromtheb continues trying to regroup with the party. Ah, I hadn't realized you were medium-armored.
Quinn taunts the dead bug.
Duglan taunts the live one.
Velinari doesn't miss his sneak attack.
And we're off initiative. I'll assume you all go into the other room, where the ankheg in the corner lies half on it's back and wheezes pitifully.
Save vs attack3 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Save vs attack5 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Save vs attack6 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Damage = 5 + 7 + 24 + 11 = 47
Ser Harris Halford |
"One less ankheg now," Ser Harris says in satisfaction. Hearing Duglan's comment, he turns and examines the cowering creature.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
"That's odd. He's suffering from some sort of affliction." Harris pauses, before saying "I'm no healer. Can one of you tell me what causes this sort of lesions?"
Taking 10 on Knowledge: Nature - result is 21 (26 if these lesions are caused by some other creature or ability). Does Harris have any idea what sort of afflictions affect Ankhegs?
Gromtheb Zugwag |
Gromtheb is going to go up and get his bow. Also, lets say he is no longer invisible. If he gets back before something interesting happens, then automatic success on perception and Heal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 SPOT ON. Gromtheb takes a step back. Whoa, I wouldn't get to close to that bug. That looks to me like a from of the Red Drip, a nasty fungus that can kill you at worst and take your hand at best. Best to kill this thing from a distance and be careful not to touch any part of it. I'm outta here. This thing can't live long anyway. Gromtheb books it out of there.
Gromtheb Zugwag |
Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire,
I do wander everywhere,
Swifter than the moon's sphere... oh wait, that isn't right. Out of the cave. When the other characters mention something about the other passages he might consider going down, but as much as he likes battle, he isn't really into losing his hands to a flesh-eating fungus.
Ser Harris Halford |
"Brave Sir Robin ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir Robin!"
In sum, we bugger off.
"Let's get away from that thing," Ser Harris says of the Ankheg. "I'd rather not risk amputation or worse as a result of being around these diseased wretches any longer."
Gromtheb Zugwag |
I mean, if Gromtheb hadn't made that roll, he would have been way more likely to stick around. But a fungus that you catch on contact and can kill you without too much trouble? Who knows if he'll catch it?! He is way too fond of his limbs for that. Anyone have a good reason to stick around? I'm talking just any old reason, like being really curious or excited about potions or wanting to check out the rest of the cave to see what's up...?
Ser Harris Halford |
"Yes, let's not worry them too much. We've already worn out our welcome," Harris glances briefly at Duglan, "so let's not turn the townsfolk against us any more. It's unprofessional."
Harris actually approves of the party leaving town and of Duglan's actions insofar as they soured the party's relations with the townsfolk.
GM-jkbc |
Gordel harumphs and walks back to the bar, picking up a dirty mug from a table along the way. He begins to wipe it out with a rag.
So there was others, eh? Mebbe tha's why Four-Jaws was more 'gressive a' late. Don't make no matter now.
I'll go get the golders I promised yeh from where I got it. O'course, yer rooms from last night 'r on me, and y' can stay as long's y' want. I'm a man o' m' word.
He sets down the mug more than a little firmly and heads back into the room. Other than your party, the common room is empty.
I'll give you guys a minute for discussion, if you want, before he returns. If no one's posted by the time I check this tomorrow morning, we'll move on.
Ser Harris Halford |
A party, eh? In a town near where a deadly, possibly virulent fungus was recently discovered? The Masque of the Red Death, anyone?
Deftly catching the purse, Harris attempts to turn down Gordel's grudging invitation. "We probably shouldn't attend. I'd hate to impose on you for another night."
Not imposing is hardly the reason Harris does not want to attend. He seems uncomfortable with the idea of spending any ore time around too many of the townsfolk.
GM-jkbc |
Yeah. That's partly my fault, what with being busy and not posting as much as I should, but at this point we really are just waiting for a decision on that issue.
And for mine own part, I have no GM preference for what you guys do, so just decide what the plan is.
Gordel SM: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Gordel appears pleasantly surprised as Harris' suggestion of leaving, but he stifles it quickly. Well, ei'er way, we're in y'r debt. An' I do mean that, we all really 'r thankful f'r yer gett'n rid o' that danger.
Ser Harris Halford |
Bear in mind that I, personally, have no preference. Harris, being the misanthropic bard he is, wants to get out of dodge and leave these yokels to their affairs while he and his companions do more important things - namely, adventuring.
"Indeed. I have no interest in watching you clumsily attempt to seduce everything in a skirt. Besides, the party is likely a way for the townsfolk to plan out what to do now that the ankhegs are deceased. I don't think they would appreciate you turning it into your kind of party, Duglan."
To Gordel, he says "I wish you luck, and hope your community prospers and remains safe for a long time."
The unspoken message in Harris's address to Gordel is that he hopes he doesn't have cause to come back to this town again.
Harris shares the gold within the sack equally among the party members.
Assuming my memory is correct (300 gold reward), that's 60 gold apiece.
Ser Harris Halford |
As the party travels, something seems to be weighing on Harris's mind, and after a while he says "They should be fine. That lone ankheg was dying and those tunnels will collapse soon and contain the fungus."
A few moments later, he continues, "that said, those of you who were bitten by ankhegs ought to keep an eye on your condition. Most diseases have an incubation period, and this fungus may feature a delayed emergence as well. If you feel ill or notice rashes or other abnormalities emerge on your person, inform the rest of us."
