Noke delays.
GM Red |
The orc suddenly feels compelled to let Noke loose, and so he does, then stares at his hands in disbelief.
Tinker uses the distraction to slash the enemy with his rapier, and the angry orc slumps to his knees, bleeding out.
Out of combat!
Near the now-disabled catapult rests a collection of explosives, including an alchemist's lab, three bags of flash powder, six fuse grenades, two pellet grenades (one adamantine, one cold iron), and a tangleburn bag.
All of these alchemical weapons are described on this page.
Noke Tiiz |
"Oh thank you so much! This orc almost strangled me! You guys are real professionals!" she says smiling.
* * *
Noke takes out two scrolls and casts the first scroll of 'infernal healing' and then the next one.
She shudders for a moment when she feels the evil start closing her wounds but then she shrugs.
"Oh dear Chaldira, I can only recklessly act in battle and be open for mischief if I use all available resources against evil!"
* * *
Then Noke looks at the group again and comes over to each one of you and shakes your hand.
"Now we did not even have time to properly introduce ourselves. So what is your story? Why are you here?" Noke says with curiosity in her eyes.
Begrilda Hammerhild |
"Oh, you're welcome dear! You know, we just have to--WAIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Begrilda reacts with horror as Noke uses the scroll to close up her wounds. "Oh, Noke. You don't need to rely on things like that do you? I'm here just for that reason! Listen, are you still hurt? Please let me heal your wounds if I can. You too, Thorur! I know you were able to address some of your wounds yourself, but if you're still hurt, please let me have a look alright?"
While Begrilda tends to her allies' wounds, she answers Noke's question about what brought them to Trunau. "I came here years ago to visit the temple to Iomedae and met the Graths while I was here. When poor Rodrick died, I got word and came right away to attend his funeral. Now it seems the goddess brought me here to serve in another way."
Noke Tiiz |
Due to Begrilda’s intervention Noke does not use her second scroll.
Still has 8 HP damage.
”Well, I am sorry!! I still don’t know your capabilities. So if you wish to heal us I would be very grateful! I have to admit that I was just passing through this area when a magical message from the lodge was sent to me to support Pathfinders in need of help. You guys have to have friends in the Society!“ she says.
She turns to Divune and nods at her appreciatively.
”Happu had to run quite fast to reach you in time!“ Noke says smiling and hugs her riding dog.
Tinker Boneshaker |
With the battle over, Tinker looked over the found items. "This is a alchemist's lab. I should not need it out in the field but it could come in handy." he said, as he started loading it into his haversack. "This is flash powder, If you throw it at a foes feet, it might blind them for a moment. These are fuse grenades Light and throw. You have toi be careful if you hold them too long or they can go off in your face, This tangleburn bag will stick to foes and could ignite them. These are pellet grenades that are like the fuse ones but they throw out pellets, adamantine and cold iron." he said showing the different ones.
Noke Tiiz |
”Thank you very much for the explanation!! To be honest I do not use the weapons or other items very often but rely on my mind! So please distribute these items as you see fit.“
Begrilda Hammerhild |
”Well, I am sorry!! I still don’t know your capabilities. So if you wish to heal us I would be very grateful! I have to admit that I was just passing through this area when a magical message from the lodge was sent to me to support Pathfinders in need of help. You guys have to have friends in the Society!“ she says.
"No need to apologize. I simply hope you don't rely too much on such means of healing. They can have quite a bad impact on a person. Or so I've been told. Here, let me take care of the rest of those wounds." Begrilda performs the prayers and gestures to call upon her healing magics and provides some first aid to Noke.
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
"There! See? All better." She smiles warmly at the wayang, then turns to listen as Tinker explains the properties of the various alchemical weapons now at their disposal. "Well I'm very glad those weren't used against the townsfolk. Or us! If you don't mind, Tinker, I think I could use one of those pellet grenades. Perhaps the one with cold iron? I'll let you and Thorur divide up the rest."
GM Red |
And my axe!
As you divvy up the loot found at the artillery site, a pair of Trunauan guards hail you from atop the town walls. "A giant! Lower Trunau is under attack by... a giant!"
The stench of blood and smoke hangs thick in the air. In the darkness, the crackling of fires mingles with the war cries of orc raiders and the screams of townsfolk. The Hopespring beacon burns brightly, illuminating the pool at the bottom of the Hopespring’s waterfall as well as a rough hole gouged into the side of Bloodmarch Hill.
Just outside the hole is a massive, hunched-over giant with two bestial tusks. Two orc handlers are chained to the beast - one to each leg.
"CRUSHER CRUSH PUNY DWARVES!!!" The beast bellows at your approach, testing the strength of the chains attached to its limbs. "Come on, green play-people, let Crusher smash them!"

Begrilda steps out from behind her companions, her hands already quick at work forming the gestures to cast a spell. As she gets a clear line of sight on her enemies, she cries out to the giant and his handlers, "You will do no such thing! This is where the fighting ends! Now the righteous light of Bolka will overwhelm you."
Cast Burst of Radiance centered on Crusher. All three creatures will need to make a DC 16 Reflex save.
This spell fills the area with a brilliant flash of shimmering light. Creatures in the area are blinded for 1d4 rounds, or dazzled for 1d4 rounds if they succeed at a Reflex save. Evil creatures in the area of the burst take 1d4 points of damage per caster level (max 5d4), whether they succeed at the Reflex save or not.

Noke's bolt sails wide. Begrilda's bolt is guided by Bolka herself, and finds its mark between Crusher's eyes. "AARRGHHH!" The giant roars, splashing around in the bog and covering Thorur in water.
Still lacking vision, all Crusher does is stomp futher into the water. "Crusher will find you eventually, and then... Crusher SMASH."

"BIG BABY? Crusher smash you!" The giant looks around, and as his vision returns, he raises both chained arms up at Thorur in a display of power. "I see you now. Just wait." The heavy chains are long - as if they're able to reach a distant target.
Noke's aim is true, and her bolt skins the side of Crusher's arm while this time, Begrilda's dunks into the river.

On the fuse grenade, can I throw it at Crusher so that the tangleburn bag causes it to stick to him and lights it?
There's definitely no rule for this. But because I like this idea so much, I say yes. Want to roll it as if you were throwing a splash weapon?
