Hmm. Torch, as an archaeologist, is likely to be more inclined toward the Pathfinders than the Free Captains, but his independent streak means that's a weak inclination at best - he's been burned (quite literally) before by "professional organizations" that are theoretically there to help their members but wind up taking over their investigations and/or stealing the credit, and the fiercely stubborn resistance the Free Captains have put up against Cheliax is something he admires, particularly since, despite being from there, Torch doesn't like his homeland much. Also, I don't want to ruin Tom's planned entrance for Kamal. But I think he might have to be talked around to it a little. What's everyone else thinking?
Unless I'm reading the situation wrong, it doesn't seem like it matters that much which team we go with. Gelik makes up his mind quickly, and changes it just as quickly. He's decided on the free captains, but he could easily be persuaded to any other group, as long as he can wear his new "pirate" hat.
P.S. - I didn't realize that Torch was an archeologist. That explains why he's got a better grasp of languages than Gelik, an avowed etymolygist.

Aerys is only pushing the free captains because Kassata is her mentor and she hopes one day to have her own command.
Other than that, probably no real reason to dismiss other candidates, provided they prove strong.
Ralf doesn't quite understand what the hell is going on, but he's generally agreeable to anything.

Quick question. Did you guys find a Scroll of Raise Dead on the island, and did you end up using it? Also, I would be happy to chip in for some of the items that you want. But can we buy partial charged wands? I see some options here:
-Ioun Touch only cost 75 hp each, and don't require you to carry them.
-Wand of Lesser Restoration with 25 charges runs 2250 gp.
-Scrolls of Lesser Restoration run 150 gp each.
We do have the Raise Dead scroll from the island.
Gelik will pitch in his 500 gp advance as well, but the potions might be our only option. Can anyone cast lesser restoration from a scroll or wand?
Iouon Torches are cool, but Gelik can cast light all day long, so he doesn't really need one.
I think we should forget about the potions of Heroism. And a few scrolls of Lesser Restoration that our party druid can use should be good enough, IMO.
Unfortunately, the Words of Power system doesn't have any spells that can heal ability damage or drain, so Ralf is no help in that regard.
Lesser restoration is a druid spell, so Kamal - but only Kamal - could use such a wand.
I suggest we sell the kukri, but I imagine we've got someone here who needs an amulet of natural armor +1. Anyone want to claim it?
I think the amulet should go to a melee type. I don't actually want any of this booty. Yaar.
Well, Gelik is the only PC with an AC lower than Torch's. If he doesn't want it...
EDIT: Actually, I thought we already had an amulet, so I went back and checked; we do. Aerys is supposed to be wearing it, along with a +1 buckler that's not listed on her equipment either. (She just has the regular one.) So I will claim the amulet, but Aerys should have one too - I think her total AC is 19, not 18.
Added the amulet to Aerys character sheet and updated the AC, as per Torch's note above, and buckler +1.
I thought Torch had the previous amulet, from the evil undead type hag woman. It seems al sorted now anyway.

For what it's worth (not much), giant crabs are probably Vermin, not Animals, so wild empathy wouldn't work on them (unless Kamal took the Vermin Heart feat when I wasn't looking).
Of course, wild empathy is so rarely used that I think it's worth cutting it a little slack every now and then!

Just something for the future: you are rather lacking in a good "face" character. While I love your characters, it would be easier for you to have a committed diplomat in your group. Unless some of you would like to step up to that part, I suggest that you can use Ishirou in the future. While you'll do the talking, you can let him do the Diplomacy check. It's not optimal, but it might help a bit.
If only I hadn't taken the Deaf curse... But it's fun to experiment with something different once in a while! :-)

Gelik's opinion on the matter is complicated, and different than mine (Chuck's). I'll try to elucidate in character, but basically we should try to fast talk Nkechi into coming along, even though we don't have the feather. If he doesn't want to come along, I guess we'll face the consequences.

Hrm, well I need to rest after using so many spells to retrieve the feather, but I'm not sure how time critical we are at this point. Was there a set day the caravan was leaving or the sooner we got back the sooner we leave? If I can get a new set of spells I could also pray for a single touch of the sea Between water breathing and a swim speed the task should be pretty simple.
It will take you a day to get back from the storm bird's nest so you have ample time to change your spells.

That Aboleth's Lung looks like a neat spell. If we can wait until nightfall (which might be very dangerous, granted), Ralf would have pretty decent Perception and Survival check modifiers (+12).
