Draex unable to relax co tinues to scan the room to locate a new target. A few tics and shake of his head as he tries to remember the marines standing before him are friendly. The rage not allowing him to turn down continues to smash the bots to pieces.... storming over to aldegund's side abruptly

"Are there more of those tin cans in there"
Draex points to the portal... not waiting for an answer draex begins walking to the rift

"going to bust them up real good"

"We may need to head into this portal whether we like it or not, there may be no other direction to go in".

Aldegund nods towards Taloc and steps in through the portal.

"The Changer of Ways desired we come here, likely," he glances over towards Draex briefly, "to kill and destroy. The monolith? The Kalugura? Let's find out." He follows Aldegund.

Draex acknowledges Akkad words "to kill" and clashes the twin together as if clapping with his weaponry and follows the two marines into the portal

"I'll kill em dead"

You step through the portal into nothingness. There is a blinding flash of green light, then you suddenly find yourself falling. You flail wildly and your desperate hands grasp the edge of a platform. After you heave yourself onto it, you look down. The platform is midway up a large, circular shaft. The shaft appears bottomless. If it weren’t for the energy that constantly arcs behind the cavern walls, you might think that it led to the darkest pits of the planet’s core. However, the energy is often blinding and suggests that the shaft must have a terminus. As the machines defended it so fiercely, there must be something important at the bottom. Perhaps it contains the energy source that animates the machines, or maybe the more potent members of this xenos race dwell within.

Draex pulls himself onto the platform scanning around to see if there is anyway for him to descend down the shaft. Last time he was in far better conditions to make the plunge. Not so much now.

"On three? Or does someone have a better idea?"

Menstras searches the fallen lynchguard for a power source to charge the xenos rifle. 1d100 ⇒ 41

Joining the others he looks for a pattern to the energy spikes.1d100 ⇒ 67

Taloc his wings and drifts to the bottom.

If you don't have a way to easily go down make Athletic checks to descend the shaft please!

1d100 ⇒ 80 athletics check

Make another athletic check. If you fail you get 2 more tries to make it so 3 total.

falling to his doom draex grabs his axe and tries to bite into the side of the shaft

1d100 ⇒ 32 vs 60

the fear of never being able to shed blood again cause Crimson to sink its teeth into the wall allowing for a slower descend saving draex's life

So we make 2 Athletics checks

Athletics 47: 1d100 ⇒ 22
Athletics 47: 1d100 ⇒ 8

Athletics: 1d100 ⇒ 11

Menstras opts to climb with the others.

Just one if you make it. you get 3 chances to catch yourself in case you miss once or twice.

Athletics: 1d100 ⇒ 39

Akkad follows his companions down the shaft.

Deathraven will use his jump pack for what it was designed for, meeting the others at the bottom.

The wormhole remains open as you descend, providing a tenuous link back to safety. The climb is a direct vertical slog. You make your way down and the bottom of the shaft opens up into an enormous, brightly lit cavern.

Directly below the shaft opening is a platform attached to a long catwalk. The catwalk is attached by braided metallic posts descending from the ceiling of an enormous open cavern. The cavern extends as far as the eye can see in every direction. The floor—over 100metres below the catwalk—is covered in sand. Thousands of massive tesla flux emitters, each more than 20 metres in height and at least three metres in diameter—extend from the floor and roof of the cavern, like stalactites. White and green lightning flashes constantly between them, leaving the entire cavern brightly lit.

The catwalk descends directly towards the apex of a massive step pyramid, more than 80 metres in height. The pyramid is assembled from a flat black stone, which seems to absorb all of the light from the flashes of energy. Golden hieroglyphics are carved into much of the structure’s surface. Some portions of the structure intermittently glow with a white-green pulse. You are uncertain if the glow comes from within the structure or is merely a reflection of the constant flashes of energy. Even from here, you can see an opening at the pyramid’s top where the catwalk ends.

There is really only one way to go and that's across the catwalk. As you begin to make your way across please make Awareness checks at -10.

Awareness1d100 ⇒ 68Fail.

1d100 ⇒ 56 v 61

Success

Awareness 42: 1d100 ⇒ 18 Woohoo!

1d100 ⇒ 59

If you make your test you hear a soft click as if something is activating as you make you way across the catwalk.

"Scatter."

Taloc takes to the air with his wings. Looking for danger as he heard and saw nothing.

Activate Preternatural Awareness 1d100 ⇒ 13

Unnatural Awareness Check 1d100 ⇒ 30

Deathraven jumps to the end of the catwalk and takes up a covering position.

"Probably some activation for what is ahead, you think a trap Menstras or just caution?" as Aldegund admires the technology and getting some ideas himself "A generic activation switch to turn on possible some kind of room and it's respective machines, great for a workspace... terrifying here if we are to face more of those guardian machines"

Since you heard and were warned please make Ordinary Athletic Checks as the gravity in the room reverses and attempts to pull you up to the ceiling to either activate mag lock boots or grab onto the catwalk.

1d100 ⇒ 64
Menstras activates his magboots and the lightning claw's powerfield before sweeping it through the panelling where the click originated.
"Seems like a trap. Ready yourselves for company."

Space Marine Dark Apostle 2/18 wounds 3/3 infamy fatigue 1

1d100 ⇒ 61

Akkad is unprepared and falls to the ceiling.

Athletics 1d100 ⇒ 64

As I am flying can I adjust to the shift more readily?

Athletics: 1d100 ⇒ 74

1d100 ⇒ 7

Draex smashes both axe chained to him into the ground holding him in place to the floor to get his barings to activate his mag boots

After a few heartbeats the gravity returns to normal and those who were flung to the ceiling begin to fall!

Make athletic checks again.

Does my flight have any impact on this?

Draex rips his axes out the ground with the sound of screaming metal

"what sort defense mechanism was that?"

Your ok Taloc.

"Simple but effective Draex. At least against invaders who are not Astartes. We shall adapt and overcome".

athletics: 1d100 ⇒ 8

Awareness - Hearing: 1d100 ⇒ 2

"Do not dismiss our enemy so easily Ulasht. There is still much we do not know."

Menstras deactivates the lightning claw and draws his plasma pistol.

Athletics 47: 1d100 ⇒ 52 - Fail

Aldegund can only grunt in displeasure as he is caught by surprise.

You only have to make the 2nd roll if you fail the first one for potential fall damage and off the catwalk into oblivion :)

Your all able to make it across the catwalk after surviving the insane trap and make your way to the entrance atop the step pyramid.

Make Awareness checks +10 sight.

Perception: 1d100 ⇒ 11 vs 91

Awareness: 1d100 ⇒ 59

Menstras takes the time to reload his plasma pistol.

You notice that there is a very faint glimmer of an energy field blocking the doorway.

Taloc lands back on the catwalk and turns to Menstras, "Ulasht is dead. Only Taloc remains my friend. I do not discount them. I only trust in you my Brothers to overcome".

Awareness 1d100 ⇒ 35

[b]"An energy field, Aldegund do you see a box that could be a power source for this field?"

Taloc looks for one himself but Tech is not his strong point.
