Faolan grins and, almost, bangs his shield in agreement, but instead nods vigorously and heads out in the lead, ready for anything - or so he hopes!

At the first sight of danger (maybe the foot of the stairs?) he quaffs a held potion of Bull's Strength to give him an edge in the upcoming fracas.

"Hold your horses heroes." Krowe whispers as the mercs ready to storm the fort. "We have them at a disadvantage, but they still have numbers. If we are going in, let's go in girded with magic."

Looking through our supplies, I suggest the following before we leave the watchtower. All have a duration of at least 3 minutes.
Potion of bull's strength for Faolan
Oil of magic weapon for anyone with a nonmagical weapon (we have 4 oils)
Potion of barkskin for Bazsil.
Potions of shield of faith for Bazsil and Faolan.
Krowe will offer to cast enlarge person on someone if they want it.
Krowe will cast mage armor from his wand.

Shadow Lodge

You cast various offensive and defensive spells about yourselves before moving down into the camp.

Go ahead and declare which of those prep items you're doing.

You make your way to the southern hut. The skins of many humanoids—many with faces still twisted in agony—make up the walls of this gruesome domed tent. Rough stitches hold it together and Krowe recognizes at least one of his neighbors from Phaendar.

He looks at the stitched tent with a frown, "What monsters." he mumbles as he looks for someone to kill for the offense.

Bor takes one of the oils and places it in his belt pouch for safe keeping. heading down the stairs he looks to the tent and frowns. Anger that only Bazsil song can usually provide fills his chest. "This is what's next" He whispers. Fire fills his eyes and he lifts the flap of the flesh-like tent and enters.

Hopefully not a hungry flesh tent :)

All other strikes miss and the bugbear seems enraged by being touched.

"I will turn you into my latrine seat while you still breath!"

He directs his swords in the same direction as his ire, towards Bor.

”Patrols are returning. We should try to block the entrance.”

As his elemental slams at the bugbear Krowe grabs his book and flips through it for a few seconds, then focuses his mind and sets a new spell to memory.

The elemental puts the bugbear down with his blow, a shield and Bazsil's sword having set up the fatal strike. The inside of the tent is trashed and for a brief moment all is silent. Your victory seems short lived as the entire camp responds to the bugbears death throes.

At the top of the ravine a feral cry rings out as a goblin and wolf look down the stairs. From a tent near you a ratlike hobgoblin emerges, holding a rapier and staring at you with red glowing eyes. You catch a glimpse of movement behind her in the tent.

You'll have one round of buffing/recover/setup and then we'll roll initiative unless you want to keep your old numbers and I'll roll for the newcomers. At the end of that buffing round positions will be as follows: Goblin is at the top of the stairs. Hobgoblin is at the tent by the wooden spikes to the east. Beyond them at the spikes are 4 hobgoblins, 2 bugbears, and another wolf.

Faolan will grant himself the Dodge feat and move to the entrance of the tent to form a barrier between the party and the new threats. Happy to use the old numbers for initiative or re-roll - whatever's easier for you.

”We need to hold the breach!” Krowe says to the mercs and points to the gap in the spikes.

Gnashing his teeth like he has a mouthful of pebbles, Krowe speaks to his elemental and sends it to the spikes. He follows and supports it by casting a spell to grease the area just inside the opening.

Krowe is running off, but is hoping some (if not all) of the mercs will follow him.

With mage armor Krowe has AC 16. I’m not sure I quality for normal cover (+4) or advanced (+8). He was trying to take advanced cover, but I don’t know if that’s possible. Normal avoids two arrows, advanced avoids all.
