Game Master baldwin the merciful

This is Council of Thieves AP. Westcrown, City of Twilight, once was the center of Aroden's faith, but now it symbolizes despair. By day, the city remains a vibrant center of trade; but, by night only those with a death wish venture out.

Evil GM

Gerard would shake his head in response to Andrea's question...he's quite perplexed.

-----
Meanwhile staking all the vampire spawn will take quite some time to open coffins, move coffins off the stacks and spike even with three working at it and you'll need a break to catch your breath. Assume it take 30 minutes of time.

Best left to the magical types, friend... I'm but a simple man.

Evil GM

With the detect secret doors wand an outline of a door appears in the hallway (west wall H, 11/12).

Please be aware that my miracles that protect us against fire and cold as well as the Death Ward on Euphemia have faded.

]Andrea dabs some ashes on Gerard's eyelids and the eyelids of any who want some.

As well as healing Orsin with a CSW potion

CSW: 3d8 + 5 ⇒ (7, 3, 7) + 5 = 22

She also takes the opportunity to cast Imbue with Spell Ability and True strike on Euphemia.

When we fight Ilnerik, Gerard,Orsin and Daniel will have their hands full with hand to hand combat. This will allow you to make one sure strike with the Morrowfall.

If everyone is ready, let's move on. Let's finish this. Remember Illnerik might be the main target but the wizard if he is there needs to die. His magic can ruin our efforts.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

I am ready

Evil GM

I was waiting on Gerard since it's a secret door, he wasn't able to log on till after 7 pm.

Is anyone doing anything?

Gerard rubs the ash on his eyes and he clearly observes the outline of the door.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Andrea holds out three vials to Daniel,Orsin and Gerard. We found these in the armory of Walcourt. These oils will sharpen your weapons to cut deeper

3 vials of Keen Edge. Keens weapons

Andrea also hands Jarvis the vial of Silversheen.

Vampires need to be struck by weapons that are magical and silver for full effect. Put this on your short sword to be able to damage them with it.

Evil GM

Orsin applies the oil on his longsword, "Anything that helps."

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Alas he has to oil his own sword and not have some handsome satyr do it for him.

Evil GM

Gerard you have absolutely no idea how to open this door. Phem steps in casts detect magic which reveals three magical circles and she shows them to Gerard. Once Phem traces the circles for Gerard he can see a faint image.

Gerard make another dis Device check.
Anyone with spellcraft can make check.

Male Human Rogue 13 | 97/97 | AC 26/19/19 | F 8/R 16/W 7 | Init +7 | Perc +18/+22

I can't disable magical traps, love.... Gerard steps back and away.

Evil GM

Nobody picked up or examined the book she was reading:

“The Six Trials of Larazod” the insides cover is inscribed with “Property of Thesing Umbero Ulvauno.”

Disable Device: 1d20 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 20 + 2 = 32

Evil GM

Gerard:
You realize the door is magical but it is not trapped just exceptionally difficult to spot and to get through, especially without the ash. You think if you trace the three concentric circles are traced with the ash the door may open.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24

This is Thesing's book? Andrea takes a momment to pick it up. So Orsin's most unfavorite person might be here.

Evil GM

Andrea:
You think a knock, passwall, gaseous form, or teleport spells could get you to the other side of the door.

Male Human Rogue 13 | 97/97 | AC 26/19/19 | F 8/R 16/W 7 | Init +7 | Perc +18/+22

Gerard after much constipation... erm, consternation... applies some modest amount of ash and traces each circle starting with the inner-most.

Evil GM

Jarvis applies the silversheen to his sword. "Remember, he has my wife and child...careful with those area spells.

Evil GM

Gerard Only:
As you finish tracing the circles you can see through the door....you also, think everyone needs the ash over their eyes.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

I believe a knock, passwall, gaseous form or teleport spell can get us through

Male human bard 7/pathfinder savant 5: 83/83 hp, Init +2, AC 24 [touch 14, flat-footed 23], Fort +10, Ref +12, Will +11; Perception +5

To hell with your wife and child, Jarvis.

Whoa, what was that?! Get it together, Bessatte. Don't let everything that's happened to you into a monster. Thesing will get his comeuppance if he hasn't already.

Orsin taps himself with the wand of cure moderate wounds, sighing at the thought of his barbarism.

Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 4) + 5 = 11 Bringing him back up to full.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Male Human Rogue 13 | 97/97 | AC 26/19/19 | F 8/R 16/W 7 | Init +7 | Perc +18/+22

Every one will need the ash... Perhaps it has the essence of the magics you seek.

And remember I can hit what I can't see or reach...

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Andrea rubs a little ash on her eyes and offers it to everyone else.

Evil GM

Anyone applying ash:

You can now see the out line of the door, plus three concentric circles on the door which appears open to you. The hall extend 20 feet tot he West, then turns to the southwest. Anyone with spellcraft can make a check.

Evil GM

Jarvis does not hesitate to place the ash on his eyes, "Ready!"

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26

Evil GM

Spellcraft check 23 and higher:
You've never seen one of these but you've read about a phasedoor which is an ethereal passage through wooden, plaster, or stone walls, but not other materials. The phase door is invisible and inaccessible to all creatures except you, and only you can use the passage. You disappear when you enter the phase door and appear when you exit. If you desire, you can take one other creature (Medium or smaller) through the door.

Evil GM

Anyone with ash on their eyes can see the door but your sight perception is at -20.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

This is a phase door which allows passage through wood, plaster and stone. Unless we used the ashes, it would be invisible or inaccessible. We go in one side and will appear out there other and we can take along one person who does not use the ashes.

edit: So, say three of us can take two others who don't have the ash on their eyes to both save ash and make sure we are not all blinded.

Daniel moves over to Jervis.
You will need more protection.
The paladin offers Jervis his Armored Coat he used for night watches if Jervis prefers and will cast MAGIC VESTMENT on whatever Armor he wishes to wear.

Just before they all step through the Phasedoor, the paladin will use his wand of Divine Favor and the oil of keen edges.
He walks through the phase door with his Shield and sword out.

Evil GM

He has on a chain shirt that Andrea provided him he'll gladly take the magic vestments. 'Anyone have that ability to create a magic shield for me?" shield spell

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Andrea shakes her head

Evil GM

Andrea leads Daniel

Gerard leads Eupehmia

Jarvis leads Orsin through the phase door. Everyone safely steps through, those with ashes covering their eyes have a difficult tie making things out once through the magical door. Those with sight find the hallway slightly illuminated with greenish lichen.

Once beyond the door those without ashes take over leading the way. The hall leads west for 20 feet then banks to southwest for 15 to 20 feet before opening into a small octagonal shaped room.

A stone well opens in the cobbled floor of this octagonal chamber. No lip guards the edge of the dark opening. An iron ring has been driven into the stone ceiling directly above the well shaft.

Map

What are your intentions? I will need a marching order set up. Tell me if this works: Gerard, Daniel, Andrea, Phem, Orsin, Jarvis? Will you be traveling directly behind...5 ft gap.....10 ft gap....or more.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Andrea will wash her eyes once done guiding others through.

5' between people sounds reasonable.

Andrea verrryyy carrrrefully looks over the edge, and will have Daniel keep a grip on her.

We shouldn't climb down into the unknown. Orsin, I believe you still have that scroll of Clairvoyance we got long ago from the Wavedoor cache, if you use it, you can look to see if there are any dangers below.

Male Human Rogue 13 | 97/97 | AC 26/19/19 | F 8/R 16/W 7 | Init +7 | Perc +18/+22

Summon a scout.

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Scouting is good, that is why I suggested the Clairvoyance scroll, it will allow Orsin to look down the well and see what is down there. If it is pitch black, we can drop an arrow with a light spell on it down the well.

As for summoning, I have only one summoning spell available that can call upon a higher level being to serve us, I would rather save it until we really need it.

Male human bard 7/pathfinder savant 5: 83/83 hp, Init +2, AC 24 [touch 14, flat-footed 23], Fort +10, Ref +12, Will +11; Perception +5

"Why waste an arrow?" Orsin reaches into his handy haversack and produces a copper piece as well as the scroll of clairvoyance. Holding up the coin he asks, "Anybody got a light?"

Fire Resist 10 Human Cleric 6,HP 40/40,Init+5F6R4W9,Per10AC18/11/17

Andrea flicks her finger and Orsin's copper coin glows

Evil GM

Orsin drops the copper down the well and descends some 50 feet below and ends with a "p...ping" sound. He quickly unrolls the scroll an softly hums the words to song. he envisions the sensor with his copper coin a that the bottom of the well, his excitement grows...this is the Well I was foretold his mind strays slightly but he recovers. His eyes widen and he trembles slightly.

This chamber’s ceiling is a dome of mortared stone rising to a height of twenty feet. In the exact center of the dome is an open shaft. Archways open off of three sides of the chamber, while the chamber itself is a literal treasure house filled with sacks and chests of coins, a large statue, assorted pieces of elegant or antique furniture—much of it gilded—luxuriant art objects, pedestals displaying fantastic gemstones, and more than a few magical-looking objects. By Abadar...it's a real life treasure hoard." The bard proclaims.

Is there any sign of a threat?
Daniel fears no excitement at the proclamation. Beyond the usefulness of fine weapons, coin did little to excite him. What he didn't use for better equipment he generally donated. He remembered his atonement payment and was relieved. All the coin would either pay for weapons against evil or feed the needy.

Evil GM

"Not that I see....treasure beyond measure." Being a performing artist himself, he appreciates what's below his feet. "Undoubtedly stolen property and illegal gains.."

Evil GM

Studying the room further, "I see a beautiful suit of platemail armor on stand, there's hilt of some kind behind a chest, the chest is open and is loaded with silver pieces, there is a beautiful ivory horn, and an ugly clump of black rock which is sitting on golden trimmed pillow on a pedestal. This is how I've always envisioned a dragon's hoard to look." He comments.

Evil GM

Orsin making use of the entire spell length describes a few other things and to focus his attention on what he seeks, "There are various scroll cases and tubes that could contain fine art." That is it for the room description.
