I am glad we still get an action from Kylar before the wizard. It is so nice to ready something that damages a lot to disrupt Togarin's spellcasting...

Sanctum Map

D'oh! Actually, I did forgot about Kylar. Technically Kylar could now say ready an attack to stop that now, but Togarin may change things up a slight bit if he does and can figure that out (probably) Bah. Stupid GM is stupid.

Varian: Unfortunately, anyone doing anything other than answering Togarin is sending him to act, so your action won't go through in time.

Kylar moves into his new position, but Togarin's eyes follow the nagaji's movements. But seeing Varian try to cast a spell, Togarin speaks the final words to finish the last parts of the fireball when Kylar spits his acid. Also, while 1 person can leave, it'll take some time to drag Deaglan's heavy body out. And worse, Thornkeep is such a small town stuff will cost more. You'd have to head to Fort Inevitable for real spellcasting. And there may be wandering monsters and other terrors about for those waiting...

How about something like: it seems we are in a standoff. You need us and it seems we need you. Much as we hate to work with you we might need to actually call a truce. Do you agree?

Varian sighs and steps forward, casts Aspect of the NIghtingale and knocks politely on the door. "I'm sorry to bother you, but may I speak with you a bit please?"

If he agrees, Varian will open the door (or if opens the door himself), Varian will launch into the agreed on spiel. "I know we got off to a rocky start, but it seems to me we actually might need to work together to resolve our standoff. We need your assistance, and you need ours. Will you agree to a truce with us, as we will to you, so that we can work in cooperation?"

Sanctum Map

For the sake of time... we'll say it's about 10 minutes for the party to mull about, make their decision, before heading in.

"Why yes, please do come in." Varian opens the door to see Deaglan's body now in a corner along with the cat; he is stripped of his armor which is now on the body of the now twice-charred bearded corpse. "I'm glad you have come to your senses. It truly is the best course of action for all of us. Typically, I would hold grudges against you slaying my lovely pet, but I have not worked on one of his kind, so that is perhaps worth the exchange.", an evil grin still creeping on the wizard. "But if you truly wish to work together, then I'll expand the offer I made. Slay that Rozimus so we can be free, and I'll leave you at peace to collect your friend's body. Fail to do so, and... he may not be in the same state as you see him now."

Togarin then looks at the western-most north-facing door. "But we did have such an exhausting time... why don't you take a bath and relax. I'll work on something to aid you in your quest to free us.", the Azlanti necromancer continues, opening the door. The sound of bubbling jets of water is now audible as a soothing warmth begins to emanate from the chamber.

In game terms, a 1 hour soak in the hot tub counts as 8 hours rest... ie, spells and abilities can be restored! Incidentally, I'm also going to say that Togarin has already 'rested' again in case you try to attack him once more :P

"Doesn't that sound much better than being murdered and turned into more toys?", Togarin asks, confirming the party's allegiance to his plan.

Map updated!

Varian sighs, dejectedly accepting Togarin's offer with a slight nod and a soft but reluctant, "Agreed."

He heads into the bath, removing armor and clothing before doing so. Visible on his now-naked back are a pair of nascent wings that look like they recently sprouted from his back.. they are tiny still, but present.

(retraining his 9th lvl feat to take 'angelic flight' at 10th lvl, and he's very close being 8th lvl now, lol)

Kylar follows suit as he cautiously gets into the bath, keeping a close eye on the necromancer to make sure he isn't going to be melted by some sort of acid or killed while in a vulnerable state.

"What about our companion?" Kylar nods to Deaglan.

"Not sure... I assume we will take his body with us, and have him raised when we return to the surface."

"I'll take safe care of his body, it is my prize after all if you fail or betray me. Once you have slain Rozimus, I will leave it here for you to do with as you wish, although I can give you some excellent suggestions if you would care to hear them.", Togarin smiles.

Behind on coming up with the undead character for Deaglan. I'm also going on vacation from Oct 29 - Nov 5th, so we'll resume after that! I 've said it a lot, but thank you guys for your patience! Let's end this mission on a high note!
