Ten years into the apocalypse and the human race is on a steady decline. There was a limited nuclear strike combined with an EMP blast which overwhelmed and destroyed the infrastructure of modern society.

For those unfamiliar with an EMP blast this is a nuclear blast that happens high in the atmosphere. It destroys and fries all electronics - computers, all electric systems, modern cars etc. All fried and worthless.

Violence, starvation and disease leveled off the world population when the infrastructure collapsed. Supplies and scavenging is getting limited.

North America has become a wasteland with settlements of survivors interspersed among the ruins. Food, gasoline, ammunition and supplies are getting harder and harder to scavenge for. Life can be hard or it can be easy depending on the settlement but life in the wastelands is cheap.

Realism, adventure, moral and ethical decisions will all be interspersed into this post apocalypse story. There are no mutants or monsters in order to keep realism. One of the only change to the rule system is no mutations in order to keep realism.

Regardless of your background or character story no in game fighting. You characters dont have to like each other but tough men and women band together all the time for survival. In other words everyone understands that you have a better chance of staying alive by banding together.

10 years post apocalypse our survivors find themselves in the dying remains of North America. A limited nuclear strike combined with an EMP blast threw the civilized world into a spiral decay of death and destruction. Infrastructure completely collapsed. Cities burned, refugees by the hundreds of millions took to the highway in search of food and hope only to find a world where desperation drove people to violence in order to survive. The Dark Winters took tens of millions. Bodies rotted and the New Plague took tens of millions more. Times are desperate and not getting any better. The civilized world is gone and what remains of the human race is in decline.

Welcome to Pleasant Valley. Pleasant Valley is a lucky settlement where everything happened to go right post apocalypse. Geographically located in an agricultural valley in Central California it is surrounded by mountains and has a river flowing along the Eastern Mountain range. There is a highway and railway running north south of the valley which is easily defendable at the tightest valley entrance on each side.

Pleasant Valley is special in that it has defendable farming terrain. Each year they have a surplus of food which they use to trade with other settlements as well as providing for the needs of their growing community.

Sheriff Biggs had the foresight to cut off the valley from refugees immediately following the EMP blast though the town population has grown from 500 to 2000 over the years. The town and valley is powered by giant air turbines (which existed pre war) and by incredulous fortune a train carrying fuel and coal was in the valley when the EMP blast hit. A truck stop in the valley provided some initial supplies that have long been used up but it did have a full garage.

You are the new members of Pleasant Valley's Long Range Road Crew. The life of settlements depends on the success of their road crews. The long term fate of your town rests in your ability to stay alive.
