Same here, unless a natural 20 is still an automatic success no matter the DC

" Coins tend to run out quickly ,we are talking of far better reward here. I'm in "

Blast, comp seems to have serious hardware breakdowns, i'ld need to see after it, may have problems in the next days. If u don't see me for more than 2 days use Elsbeth as an NPC until i'm done

At Anya's question the big Ulfen replies, seemingly taking the lead on things pertaining to the actual area of investigation. "Naet so much nae. Tis a Trade Mart most times. But ye can send for things through traders and they'll be there in non time."

Roughly translated - Oleg can't provide healing or potions, but sending for materials from Restov will see them arrive within a week usually.

Mawj

Spoiler:
Just a reminder that your sense motive is actually +8 vs humans as they're a favoured enemy. It didn't make a difference this time around but it may do in the future. Since you've made your decision, have a look at the spoilers and sigh in relief. He was hoping for you to take the cash.

Male Half-Elf Ranger / Lvl 4

Lev listens to the exchanges without comment at first, trying to get a good sense of the motivation of these strange women he'd found himself with.

Finally he spoke to the Lord Chancellor.

"There is only one thing further I wish to know: What comes after? What can we expect once we've cleaned the land of bandits and whatever other threats remain? How much leeway do we have in what we build there? Will we be saddled with fat nobles looking to suck the profit from our labors, who've come to tell us how we are to live, who we are to be and to judge us by their own shallow determinations of...one's worth?"

He could not keep the bitterness from his voice because everything depended on the Lord Chancellor's answer. He'd go forward regardless but here was where the line would be drawn between whether this was just another job...or the opportunity of a lifetime.

Devetion looks at Lev with a slight smile. "That will depend very much on how successful you are at the task before you Master Feybane. We wish the land settled, and we need people capable of ruling and protecting the land when that is done. Are you capable of doing both? Time will tell"

It is as close to an answer as will prbably come from the Lord Chancellor. Probably more than was expected, but not as difinitive as some would like.

Male Half-Elf Ranger / Lvl 4

Lev shrugged. It was a typical response from a noble but it would have to be enough. "Well then, you will have the Greenbelt cleaned of bandits and whatever other dangers lurk there. And while I cannot speak for these others here," he looked to Mawj and Elsbeth in particular, "I can say that you will find your interests looked out for with exceptional skill by Anya and myself."

He inclined his head slightly and then stood back, scrollcase in hand waiting for whatever else the Lord Chancellor might have for them. Inside, however, he was itching to be on the road and away from the chamber with its magic table and most especially the self-righteous prigs who governed it.

Mawj rolls up her charter and snaps the case shut. "Unless there are more questions, I have all I need. I look forward to this mutually lucrative and beneficial arrangement."

Ready to roll out.

Somewhat chastised for the moment, Alandra listened quietly to the exchange. She could only last so long however. Is he saying we get to keep the land we explore? she thought to herself, weaning to ask Anya, who seemed nice, about it later.

Mawj is ready, no further purchases necessary. She will stow some of her traveling gear on the wagons.

Anya nodded briefly, and relief now spread all too visibly across her youthful face. The chance she had been praying for so desperately was there - even if the grand chance of gaining her own estate was distant and unlikely, after this she could follow her own goals even in case it wasn't meant to happen - not that she doubted her success.

She put the scroll away swiftly, and secured it behind her belt. "We will begin preparing for our journey immediately." No need to protest their competence - Lev had done very well already.

Female Human Cleric 4

Alandra exchanged her tent and rations, ready to roll.

A day after the meeting with the Lord Chancellor, the wagon and supplies are finally delivered. Three great draft horses have been provided to pull the heavy wagon, its axles and wheels creaking with the weight of food crates and wilderness gear.

While the lord chancellor himself isn’t here, the big Ulfen man is. His hulking form leaps down from the wagon seat where he had been sitting, steering the animals with some skill through the streets to the agreed meeting place. Today he has lost his grim look and it is replaced with a wide grin for all of those gathered. He has also lost his formal robes and openly wears the armour and weapons everyone would expect of one such as he.

“Tis a good day ja!?” He moves to each person in turn and embraces them in a crushing hug of welcome and luck, and then presses into each of their hands a small bone pendant. Upon it is carved the three runes of the main gods of Brevoy - Abadar, Gorum and Pharasma. “My gift to ye, for luck. Be safe my friends”.

When all are prepared, he slaps the horses on the rump and watches the group ride through the main gates. It is a perfect spring morning, with the cool air of the night slowly ceding its hold to the warmer air of day, and ahead the road leads to Oleg’s

It is 100 Mile 9 (161km) journey to Oleg’s, a journey of a little over a week with the wagon. Some one needs to drive the wagon.

Rather than play out a week on the road, I’ll get you to make some skill checks to see how you progressed. Something like a skill challenge from 4th edition without the unnecessary complexity for those who know the system.

Rolls that can be made – Handle animal or Ride (for controlling the wagon), Handle Animal or Heal (for looking after the horses), Diplomacy, bluff or intimidate (for dealing with people on the road which includes merchants, peasants and militia), Survival (for preparing food or if you want to try and conserve food by foraging rather than using the supplies in the wagon). If you can think of other skills that you think might be useful to keep the trip steady and smooth, try them out with an explanation as to why you are using them.

I need three rolls for each of the categories listed. One for start, middle and end of the journey. Each character can only roll once for Start middle and end, and where they place their rolls is up to them. All the categories should be filled though, and you can choose to assist another if you wish. I’ll take the results and do a description of the journey from there.

You can also take the chance to make an in character post in this time to represent any interactions between your characters on the journey if you wish.

am using the laptop of my younger brother atm...cannot use it as much as i want but it is something

After the meeting Elsbeth felt quite reliefed, she've hade hard times her last months in Westcrown, cheating on men of rival houses to quickly leave Cheliax before hellknights get to know. Luckily the trip went nicely thanks to fact she joined a trading expedition passing for a tradeswoman; here she heard of the ongoing problems in Brevoy and decided to try her luck ( not that she felt like she had any luck at all but always better than facing the justice of Asmodeus' church )

But she had one last burden to take off her soul.
After recovering what little possesion she had and had to leave for the meeting with the lord chancellor she sought that kind girl, Anya.

Anya:
"As i said i'm sorry for the answer i gave you inside the hall, believe me if i say i'm not happy of talking about my past. Anyway i don't want to have you think i'm just trying to stir up fake simpathy out of anyone. But remember, you asked for it"
Here Elsbeth pauses and smiles
"My mother Opadara,an elf,was a priestess of Calistria, yes!!! a prostitute, but i never get to know her,she died giving me birth. My daddy Antonio , head of house Volarius of Westcrown, told me she gave herself to him out of greed. His servants, specially the female ones, thought he raped her; my dear dad WAS that kind of man. Of this i'm quite sure because he DID try to rape me as well when i was 17 .In that occasion i asked him why my hair and eyes are of such color, obviously not from Opadara nor from him, and when he told me i was so angry i wanted to kill him, but i just turned on him saying he'ld have never seen me again. Then he went on a rage and tried to force himself on me...and fell ill all of a sudden. He is dead now " She stops again, this time likely to check on her emotions, taking a long, deep breath.
" The fact is i could have died with my mother during birth, but a high priest of the Infernal Lord,Asmodeus, promised my life to him if i ever get to make it...and seemingly Asmodeus granted him this wish. As my dad told me both him and the clergy of Cheliax expected a sign of sort to tell them i was ready for their Lord...i like it or not"
She pauses again, and again smiles;this time it is an enigmatic smile.
"Remember? Told you it was you who asked for it....now you know i can REALLY add some infernal fun to this trip. Of course Hell is the source of my arcane skill, but Hell itself could come and try to get me anytime"
"Whenever you still want me with you or not now is up to you , have a good time with shopping"

Elsbeth

Spoiler:
Anya pursed her lips at Elsbeth's comment. "Well, I must admit I was a bit shocked. You're very open and forward - something I respect, but alas - not something that will bring you many friends in most of the nobility."

She listened to Elbeth's story with some sympathy in her gaze, but not outright pity. "Well, I feel for you. But any dark gods aside, here we are going to face the wilderness. A good place for a fresh start - none will know your face or name. And I think if you want to leave your past behind, this is the place - if you don't take it with you."

Something about the half-elf still rubbed her wrong, but she chalked it up to the disturbing amount of personal, very personal information she had just given her. "Truthfully - Lev once said on the frontier you use the tools you have. I see this very similarly. Unless you start getting love notes from hell every night."

Alandra

Spoiler:
Anya waited for Alandra to leave, and approacher her. "Hey, what do you think about having dinner together? We'll spend a lot of time together in the wilderness, and I'd like to know who will watch me sleeping."

Anya appeared early when thei rlong preparation was finally complete, and greeted the large Ulfen. She greeted him with an open smile, and as naturally as anyone seated herself on the helm of the carriage. She put the pendant into a breat pocket, perfectly at peace with the three gods being close.

She took the reigns, and relaxed. The horses slow gait wasn't going to be a problem, they shouldn't wear themselves out too early.

I'd like to take the Helm, since I have ride as a skill, but don't quite match any other requested one. In case noone challenges her, here are my rolls.

i don't really need to buy anything more, don't have money left and am already at full light enc :( i'll just take more ammo for the crossbow, you never know

Thankful for the wagon full of goodies, Elsbeth sat down and freed herself of her bags. Than after checking if she had any broken ribs (thanks to the hug of the ulfen) she greeted Restov goodbye and bid hersel and the new companions good luck.

I should know the actual encounter to think of something to say to support the bluff rolls( i suppose it is unlikely to try and intimidate militia and hardly diplomacy works on bandits but bluff is a jack-of-all-trades, so for now i'll just roll, the results generally are at +1 agaisnt males and bandits.I'll wait the description to see if it requires more roleplay

Bluff 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29 start
Bluff 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 middle
Bluff 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 end

Lev accepted the charm with the usual grimace that passed for a smile on his face and nodded his thanks. As the wagon moved onto the road and began to leave the town behind, Lev examined the charm for a few minutes and then shrugged and put it on. He had no particular affiliation but saw no point in passing up the potential for aid, be it divine assistance or simple luck.

He choose the seat beside Anya as she drove and for the most part simply sat there quietly and watched the world pass by, occasionally seeing the elf scouting out ahead.

When the sun began to lower over the horizon and they found an appropriate place to camp, he looked skeptically at the horses, realizing he didn't really know all that much about them and tried to make sure they didn't run off before setting up the fire and seeing to dinner.

Okay, so far we've got Anya taking the three ride checks, and Elsbeth has done bluffs for dealing with people on the road. Mawj has done survival checks, but is that for food foraging only, or are you also handling meals? I assume I'll be doing the checks on the horses. Is anyone else better equipped for that? Alandra? Sadly, due to my Charisma, my Handle Animal check isn't all that great. I'd actually be better off with Survival checks but if Mawj has that handled, I'll stick with caring for the horses. So I'll do Handle Animal Checks and will welcome aid. However, if Mawj refuses to take care of meals and no one else can do it AND someone else can handle the horses with a Heal check, Lev will take care of meals so people don't arrive with malnutrition.

Handle Animal - Start: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Handle Animal - Middle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Handle Animal - End: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Survival - Start (Cancels out Handle Animal if there's no one to cook and someone else takes over horse care): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Survival - Middle (Cancels out Handle Animal if there's no one to cook and someone else takes over horse care): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Survival - End (Cancels out Handle Animal if there's no one to cook and someone else takes over horse care): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Edit to add: Actually, Alandra probably has a much better chance of caring for the horses so if she's willing, I'd much rather see my survival checks be put to use on providing meals rather than killing the horses.

Arianna arrives the next morning ready for the road. Her long brown hair pulled up into a tight bun wearing a suit of studded leather armor that has been dyed black with a pair of twin short swords on each hip, the hilt a dagger protudes from from one of her boots while another is in a sheath on her belt. A short bow and quiver of arrows slung across her back completes her ensemble.
As she scan the crowd of onlookers she spots a familiar face and her hands go reflexively towards her swords. As the big ulfen bodygaurd appraoches she visibly forces herself to relax as she accepts his token.
Tossing her leather backpack into the wagon she mounts up with the rest of the party, her eyes scanning the crowd once more for the now vanished face.

None of these skills are Ari's forte, so she will Aid Another as appropriate.

Alandra graciously took the pendant, and looked at it a bit puzzled before she put it in her pocket. Why put three gods on one pendant?

Anya

Spoiler:

"That sounds good. I don't trust some of the rest." She seemed glad to have met someone who might be a friend.

Alandra rode on the wagon during the day, and when it stops she tried her best to tend the horses and make sure they are secured comfortable and watered and fed.

"I dont know nothing about horses." she muttered.

Since Alandra's helping with the horses, albeit reluctantly, and Mawj is willing to help with preparing meals, I'll keep my Handle Animal checks and use them to aid Alandra. Obviously, only the last one is any good.

Later in the trip, as the landscape began to change, (is it? What's the landscape like, anyway?) Lev looked over to Anya and remarked, "I don't know what manner of dangers await us out there, but I'm beginning to enjoy the trip. It's always good to see new surroundings, and I'm pleased to get away from the familiar old towns with all the familiar bastards. But what of you? Do you miss home and your...our brothers? I wonder if this is harder on you."

That evening, as he attempted to help Alandra with the horses, he paused in his hapless brushing.

Alandra:
"I'm not much for idle chatter, but I appreciate you seeing to the care of these creatures. I never had much use for horses. Never really saw the point. Where can they take us that our own legs won't? Truth is, we can usually take ourselves to places they can't. But by Gorum's nethers, they're awfully useful for hauling s~$+e, aren't they?"

With a gruff laugh at his own joke, he looked over to her. "Say, what are you hoping to get out of this trip, anyway? I hardly know your name, much less what it is exactly that you do. It's poor tactics to make it all the way out there without knowing a damn thing about you."

Quite busy right now, I'll try to get a post up later tonight. Some very good rolls in there folks, well done. Tanner, I'll definitely link your map to my page rather than the one I've got. It is fantastic. Well done to you also. Cheers

Alandra

Spoiler:
Anya led her new ally (friend maybe) towards the 'Traveller's Shoes', a medium sized inn on the outskirts of Restov. "I understand what you mean. I haven't spoken with the elf yet, but she would nearly have made a huge mistake with the Chanellor, I think. And the Chel, she... well, I'm not sure. I hope it's just different culture and all - but I don't know. Do all chelish people speak like that?"

She ordered a hearty evening meal for both of them - roast piglet, heavily spiced and served with steaming rhye dumplings, and tried to go to smalltalk... learn a little more about the most reclusive of the new entourage

Anya turned her face from the road for a moment, looked back towards Lev. The ever-same dust before her couldn't have been much more boring even without the dots of color from trees, grasses and the occasional river. "Well, you know I really wished to stay in Restov - that I planned on joining the Swordpact. So its a bit like walking away from a dream. Part of me says I'm insane, that I should stay and fight... But really, it's a bit like waking up."

As if the underscore her somewhat dramatic comparison, she losened the reigns and shook them gently to speed the horses along their way. "I think this is a huge chance. Whoever gains the title of the region will be beholden to us. Maybe, if we play our cards right, we might even get a barony in the new dutchy. It's worth waking from a few dreams."

She remained silent for a moment. It seemed callous and insensitive not to mention home at all - even though it lay further from her heart than the Aldori Swordpact. "I will miss Bor and little Miska. Father and mother, too. But I'm all grown up, and this is really the only way I can live my life, and not theirs.

The first few days are pleasant on the road. It is well travelled and well maintained this close to the city. The weather remains fine, though the mornings still have the bite of a late winter in them. The countryside begins as quite heavily occupied but quickly gives way to farmsteads of sheep and goats, with occasional fields being prepared for the early plantings of spring.

The elven lady, Mawj, takes to ranging ahead of the little troop and their heavily laden wagon. Occasionally she ranges far afield, checking the lay of the land and trying to scrounge food where she can. At night she returned to prepare meals, quietly stepping in and gathering what was required before cooking enough for everyone. The first night nearly turned into a culinary disaster except for the fact that young Arianna discovered one of the preserved foods had turned slightly just before Mawj was ready to add it.

Arianna

Spoiler:
Arianna wasn’t sure what had made her check the crate of dried meats that Mawj had removed from the wagon. She was certainly glad she had though, for she had found a trace of resin powder on the meat that she recognised as a mild poison. The crate had been the first one available for them to use, and as she checked over it she realised it had been tampered with. Again the image of a familiar face flashed through her mind. A man in the crowd that had been close when the wagon arrived. Her blood went suddenly cold and she kept the information quiet, casually informing the others that the meat had turned and quickly throwing it into the fire.

The second day out of town had seen them accosted by a small band of armed men riding in from a side road. They wore no heraldry yet they were all similarly equipped and were mounted on quality horses. Mawj had alerted the group early to their approach so none were surprised when the lead rider road across their path and demanded them to stop. Not having any choice, Anya pulled up on the horses, and the wagon creaked to a stop. The ten riders slowly moved around the wagon, checking all of the travellers over, as if searching for someone or something in particular. The lead rider spoke then, his thick Brevian accent betraying his northern origins. He had questioned them at length about a girl matching Arianna’s description and was wondering if the party had seen her. Miraculously, Arianna was nowhere to be found during the entire incident, though none could remember seeing her depart.

Sensing this was no time to be admitting travelling with the girl, Elsbeth casually informed the riders that they had seen someone matching their description earlier in the day, but she had ridden off the rode some three hours back, heading towards an old windmill on the side of the road. He beautiful face, and the fact her skirt had somehow ridden high on her thigh as she sat upon the wagons seat certainly worked in her favour, and the men had ridden off hard without checking the wagon.
Within moments, Arianna appeared from under the canvas and shrugged away the questioning looks of the others.

That night though, another issue arose when both Lev and Alandra informed them all that the horses were almost blown. They had probably not rotated them through regularly enough and now they would need an extra half days rest before they could continue the job of pulling the wagons. A minor delay, but it showed the importance of these animals to the job they had signed up for.

That’s the first part of the journey done. You nearly failed in two sections but I used the assists from some of the group to pull you through the cooking situation. Unfortunately the handle animal was a fail even with Lev trying to help. It was close though so only a minor delay and no lasting damage. I’ll get the rest of the journey done tomorrow unless you want to play out some stuff for things that have happened so far. With the rolls you made, the rest of the journey is pretty much a straight forward affair.

Edit- I orginnaly had Anya in teh spoiler, was meant to be Arianna. Sorry about that.

Anya

Spoiler:

Alandra seemed very happy to talk, and admitted she didn't know about the Chelish woman either, having never met someone from there before. She told Anya she is quite happy to be away form the temple for while, since the priests there aren't very nice to her and don't let her out into the city much.

"I wish I was back in Gray" she said "I like that temple alot better."

Lev

Spoiler:

Alandra laughed along with Lev. "I never even rode a horse before. My name is Alandra, I come from the temple of Pharasma in Restov, to do what I can for this expedition I guess. I'm not sure why they sent me, probably to get rid of me. Your Anya's brother right? She's really nice."

That evening, after the strange encounter with the men who were seeking Arianna, Lev sat eating his food silently, his eyes focused on the woman across from the fire. Taking a final swallow, he set aside the plate and utensils and leaned forward.

"Think you might tell us what this afternoon's distraction was all about? Or are we going to have to keep making up stories for you all the way out to the Greenbelt without knowing why?" His voice was mild but his eyes were sharp on her face.

Mawj speaks while chewing some trail jerky around the fire. "I'm all for respecting privacy, but ten armed men looking us over like show dogs tends to turn personal business into party business. They were probably retainers of my brother, half brother really. She heaves a heavy sigh "Shortly before my mother passed she showed me a love letter from a minor noble she had had an affair with. I was the result of that affair and when she tried to get the dog to recognize me he warned her to forget pressing her claim, or else." she stared deep into the fire, continuing "When I showed the letter to the nobleman, now a grown man with a family of his own, he denied everything and had his servants beat me from the house." She looked levelly at her companions now "Shortly thereafter the man's son contacted me about working together to come to some sort of equittable arrangement. I was to meet him at a local tavern and bring the letter. When I arrived two of his goons grabbed me from behind and in the ensuing struggle I managed to escape, but not before cracking the young lordling skull." She smiles a slightly feral smile. " I guess he's a might bitter about that."

Elsbeth eat her meal as close as possible to the fire,as she always thought fire was one of the greatest wonders on Golarion or, for what she knows,in the entire exsistence. Lately more than ever...may that means .....???
"No,i don't even want to think about that".

She slowly dropped the plate, stood up and walked to the wagon.
There she opened her backpack and searched it for her hairbrush. Then relaised her hair and sat in the wagon, gathered all of them on the right of her head and down to the thigh, beginning to comb them, and couldn't help but remark how much dust they have accumulated.
The rest of her persona wasn't in much better conditions either, this surely didn't help her mood. She missed a marble bath tub full of hot water....!!!! "FOR THE SAKE OF CALISTRIA, i'm no longer in the Volarius estate, i'll do with what i have NOW"

Overhearing Lev and Mawj interrogations over Arianna's past, Elsbeth felt the need to interfere:" Both of you should know girls like to have secrets, and i'm pretty sure you have your own no one has questioned you over this far. But you are right on one thing ; Ari's ones may be a bit too risky for us all. And, Lev, remember it was MY skin that had to be shown....i just hope i don't have to show more next time"

Blast..this damned post was intended to be complete before Arianna's,but it was cancelled when i first tried to submit it :( and it's 2:00 AM here

Male Half-Elf Ranger / Lvl 4

Lev stared at Elsbeth, an eyebrow raised. "I care little for secrets until those secrets begin to threaten me and my duties. Showing some skin may have inconvenienced you, but if your ploy had failed us, I may have had to defend a member of our group with my blood. An explanation is owed before things go that far."

As Arianna explains, the tension in Lev eases a little. "Perhaps you belong with us after all," he said so softly that it's difficult to tell if he'd meant for anyone to hear. "I thank you for your explanation. If we need to deal with these men in the future then we shall do so."

He stood and walked to his bed, the matter dismissed.

The remainder of the journey occurs without incident. The scenery changes to wild grassland, dotted with random woods of Oak and Beech, rolling hills and small rivers and streams. As the road delivers the group further from Restov, the number of people they pass also decreases in number, with less folk willing to stop and chat to the party as well. Certainly this far out from the patrols and border watches of Brevoy, the main thing on many travelers minds is whether they’ll make it to the next roadside tavern before nightfall and avoid the dangers of a night on the road.

The early delay with the horses is impossible to make up, so it is early on the morning of the 8th day when the party first catches sight of what can only be Oleg’s trading post. An old wooden fort, from the days when border patrols must have regularly managed this region, the structure stood like a human scar on the otherwise rugged landscape. It’s timbers were old and weather scarred, yet still strong enough to hold up the elements and provide protection from possible wild animals and other threats.

Perception DC 17

Spoiler:
For the briefest moment a head seems to appear above the battlements of the fort, looking in the group’s direction. A man by appearances, but the speed at which their head again drops below the battlement indicates they do not want to be seen.

As the wagon and group members approached the old fort, they could see four horses tethered to a hitching rail nailed to the wooden beams of the front wall. The gates to the trading post lay wide open, and inside two men could be seen loading two more horses with furs and other trade goods from a small trading shed.

Once they reach the gates, the interior of the trading posts yard can be seen. An old wagon, looking as though it hasn’t been moved in months lays across the pathway to the stables on the left. To the right a long log cabin sits close to the wall, possibly an old barracks, with the main building across from it.

Of more interest were the two large wooden tables and benches situated near the fire pit. Sitting at the nearest table, facing the gates as the wagon rolled in, were two more men. Men was an optional word really, with both of them being in their mid teens. They wore travel stained clothes and had weapons resting easily at their sides, but both seemed to be involved in eating some food, though without much enthusiasm.

Even as they observe these two, the door to the main building opens and an attractive looking woman moves from the rooms within, carrying a large loaf of steaming bread. Her face remains fixed on the two men at the table, never once looking up at the new arrivals.

Perception DC 13

Spoiler:
The two men at the table have bows resting near them, both of which are strung, and they have quivers on the chairs beside them. The two over near the horses have similar weapons resting against the door, also strung

If you made that perception check
Sense motive DC12

Spoiler:
The girl seems scared, and her eyes keep darting in the direction of the two women riding the wagon, and their friends. Both groups of men seem tense and are paying more attention to the group as they enter rather than the loading of horses or consuming of food

if your Perception was at least 16 you get the info for 13 plus

Spoiler:
For the briefest moment when the girl left the building another man was visible. He was dressed in some form of cloak and leathers and had a bow held in his hand. What is more disconcerting another man stands on the tower to the left of the gate, trying to hide behind what remains of an old catapult. Something isn’t right here

If you click on the name above my DM avatar it will take you to the profile page I created for this game. There is a link there showing the overall layout of the fort so you have an idea what I’m describing. I’ve also included other visual links to let you know the type of landscape you’re traveling in, and linked Tanner’s awesome 3d drawing of the trading post.

Spoiler:
Anya nodded. "I'm not terribly keen on any temple, truth be told. I admire people who can commit to one and only one diety - they have this drive and purpose you just have to respect. But I feel... well. Too many gods, all admirable, all teaching us something. Gorum's strength an tenacity. Calistria's joy in pleasure and joy in rectifying pain. Abadar's power and ruling spirit, Razmir growing from man to god. So many more than that. They all deserve my adoration, and I simply can't put one above the other.

"You seem taken with the Lady of Graves, right?" She added, on a hunch. Grey sounded just like the sort area she'd put a temple the quiet woman fitted in

Anya had withheld from commenting on the incident. The admission of bastard lineage from the girl meshed all too well with her somewhat dim view of them - and true to form, she had already begun being a problem. She tried not to cut bridges with her before properly getting to know her, but... it all wasn't just that simple.

Anya moved the wagon besides the other one, and looked out for a stable boy to take care of their horses. Someone would have to rub them off after the long travel, and they deserved some quality feed and better care than they could provide.

She dropped from the driver's post, slightly bending the knees to break the drop, and adjusted her weapons on her back, which had shifted to accomodate a more comfortable sitting position. "Hail, good folks." She greeted the assemblage.

As the wagon approached the gates of the fort, Lev stiffened slightly. Rocking gently with the motion of the wagon Lev leaned closer to Anya and whispered, "There's a man keeping watch -- and hidden -- up on the wall. Be wary, sister." He reached for his short bow, keeping it on the bench beside him, but carefully knocking an arrow into place.

When the wagon passed into the courtyard, his eyes quickly marked the horses, the two lads sitting at the table. Lev particularly focused on the woman carrying the fresh bread, ignoring the own growling in his stomach as its freshly baked aroma drifted over to him.

Perception #2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15

If anything, Lev tensed even more and he gripped his bow tightly with his right hand, keeping it low.

"At least four men with bows ready. Blood is going to be shed here, girl. Be ready!"

Lev made every one of the checks, including the sense motive, by golly. So he's had plenty of time to ready his bow before the wagon moved into the courtyard. He's keeping it hidden, and trying to keep quiet when he whispers warnings to Anya. Here are a couple of Stealth rolls for you, DM.

Stealth to hide bow (-1 for ACP): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Stealth to hide whispers (-1 for ACP): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Mawj quickly assesses the facial expressions, body language, and tactical position of the humans in the trading post. "We've walked into the middle of a shakedown."

An expectant smile forms on her face. "Mae'n amser i ddawnsio, rhai bach."

Elsbeth very annoyed thought "I guess this means no bath today either"
Her hair seemed to grow in a fiery mane around her head, while crackling energies gathered on her hands. She rushed for the ground.

Iniziative1d20 ⇒ 8
Move action - Elsbeth leaves the wagon staying near it to take cover
Standard action - spell casting - Mage armor on herself

Well combat has well and truly begun it would seem. Initiatives are Mawj, Bandits, Anya, ALandra, Guy in the door, Arianna, Krev, Elsbeth. Normally I let people just post their actions when they can, then I resolve it in correct initiative order. If actions change drastically Ill give people a chance to rethink an action. Let's see how this goes.

As quick as lightning, Mawj raises her bow and lets forth an accurate shot. Even as teh young lads eyes widen in shock, the feathered shaft enetrates his throat and he falls back. Blood arcs across the table in a crimson spray, striking the other young man sitting there.

The sudden violence triggers an explosion of action from the other men in the area. A shout echoes from the top of teh left hand tower as an archer suddenly appears there. He draws and lets loose, his shot flying true to strike Alandra. (3points of damage) The two men drop tehir parsels and gather their bows trying desperately to get off a shot at the group. Unfortunately, the sudden movement spooks their horses and prevents them from getting shots as teh animals prance about in agitation.

Seeing his brother shot down before him, the young man sitting at the table ignores his boaw and ripps his shortsword from the sheeth at his waist. He screams and rushes Mawj "He's me brother ye b~~~*!!" but the difficulty of maneuvering over the table and drawing a weapon prevents him from following through on his murderous intent.

Anya, prepared for the situation by Krev's timely warings prepares herself, even as Alandra retaliates by sending an icy ray towards teh men near teh shed. It sizzles weel and truly wide, the young priests aim put off by the feathered wood sticking into her thigh.

The door to the main building is kicked open to revel a man dressed in green cloak and leather armour. "You Elven b++@#!" he screams and looses an arrow from a fine looking bow at Mawj. The young man engaging the elf in combat spoils his shot however and it thumps into the wood of the barracks beside them.

Arianna jumps from her seat and tumbles up to one of the archers at the barn, catching him with his bow out facing an angry woman with two weapons drawn.

Lev acts instinctively even as Elsbeth casts a spell on herslef and drops from the wagon.

Lev and Anya to act this round. I'll sort a map for teh combat soon. Got to get some breakfast sorted for my kids first

Female Human Rogue 1

On her turn Arianna will swing at the bandit in front of her

Swing #1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Swing #2: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Edit: If swing #1 is enough to drop the bandit and the other is within striking distance then Swing #2 will be on him.

Combat map so far

Arianna, I'll hold your action until next round. It pretty much took you a full move to tumble from the wagon, through horsess and cover to engage the bandit

I'll check in agian tonight. If we cn hold off till Lev and Anya have posted actions it will keep things a little tighter until round two.

Cheers

I was actually waiting for the DM to call for initiatives. Ah well!

Lev glides smoothly to his feet, pulling his short bow up and firing at the man across the courtyard (near to, but not in front of the woman with the bread, I think that is).

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Initiative check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
