If anyone is interested (and hasn't seen them before), there is a series of blog posts on the paizo blog with a lot of great game-play tips. Not everything in there is applicable 100% of the time, but I found them interesting and helpful reads, especially 2, 3, and 7.

redeux |

Thanks for sharing those!
I found this thread to be interesting related to our goblin negative die result rolls:
http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2r9bc?Ambushed-by-a-Warlord-on-the-Waterfront#9
Basically we're okay to do -2 per die regardless of the individual result of each die. The final result just can't be negative so if we had -10 due to rolling 5 die and we rolled a 6, then the final result would be "0"

MorkXII |

So, after the last scenario, I asked for any feedback you might have. This time, I thought I'd provide some feedback of my own. :)
Anyways, keep up the good work. We're almost done with these Goblin effects, I promise! I can't promise that things won't get worse though. :)

You're all doing an excellent job!
I just thought I'd toss out an annoucement here that PACG will be taking part in an online play-by-post convention in March/April, and recruitment for that will start in the relatively near future. We'll be limiting any one player to playing a single character during that time, so that as many people as possible get to play.
I'll also be looking for people to run the boxes, so if you're interested in learning how to do so (and have the ability to run Microsoft Access) then PM me and we can chat. :)

MorkXII |

No problem - I was assuming that most people might be busy for the next few days (at least).
I'm going to be gone most of today as well. Before I leave, I'll build the Shrine to Lamashtu and get that ready just in case you guys get that far. I'll also throw a couple of random weapons behind spoiler tags at the top in case you close the Goblin Fortress. If you do, take the first card, and assume the next 1d4-1 cards are in the location deck.

MorkXII |

So, I apparently messed up the game state, and failed to update Seoni's location to show that she was at the Catacombs of Wrath, and then everyone else moved/stayed there even though Black Fang was going to trigger soon. I'm guessing most everyone else didn't realize Seoni was there either, otherwise they might have made different actions on their turn.
So, I'm trying to figure out what we should do. The simplest course of action is to continue on and have everyone make the Con/Fort roll and possibly take some damage. Alternatively, we could try to revert the game back 4 turns and have everyone take their turns with the knowledge that Black Fang is going to attack the Catacombs. Or, maybe there is some other compromise solution. Thoughts?

I think the easiest fix is I did head to the vault and encountered the enchanter at the vault instead of the catacombs
This does mean that the other monster in the vault area remains at the catacombs which may not have been closed by Lirianne
I then rolled a 1 on the close opportunity and decided a trip to the bridge was in order
I think that means I have a sage in my hand and a blessing of Iomedae shuffled into my deck

Kyra #274929-1002 |

I am traveling for next two weeks on business. Still planning to post, but will be more intermittent probably.
Truthfully I only skimmed everyone's turns (short on time) to make sure which blessings were used and then used the GM post to determine board state. I wouldn't have headed to catacombs and tried so hard to close it if I knew BF would strike there. Having said that, I'm open for any resolution. Whether that means we all roll for the damage, or we roll back a turn, or two, or 4.
I know indecisiveness can be annoying for some people but I promise when I say I'm open for any resolution then that's really how I am. If you need a more firm reply then I'm happy to pick something. Mistakes happen and I know I should've caught that error sooner so we all share a little blame. No big deal.

Lirianne 1005 |

Easiest would be for all to roll for the Acid damage at the Catacombs. Too hard to retro. In a real life tabletop game we could have easily missed that Black Fang's attack would be up next in the chaos of doing our own turns anyway.

Lirianne 1005 |

If we are redoing my last turn, I could have still done 2 more explores since I have a BotG and an Ally (Gunner Squire), so your suggestion might work.

MorkXII |

It sounds like everyone is willing (if reluctantly) to accept a roll for the acid damage, and that is definitely the cleanest option. I'll think we'll go with that option this time.
Trying to undo a mistake like this, while still accounting for what everyone's intentions would have been if they had known what was going to happen is difficult.
Sorry everyone, I'll try not to let this sort of thing happen again.

MorkXII |

Great job, everyone! That's Adventure 1 completed. That scenario had us taking a massive amount of damage, and I was a little worried for a while, but we made it through alive. :)
I will be finishing off your Chronic Sheets at some point today, and sending them to you. Is everyone planning to continue on to Adventure 2?

I have two things I've been meaning to ask you all about:

Reta by Redelia |
I would like to test out your application, including seeing if I can make it work in an emulator in linux. (I post sometimes from a windows 10 laptop and sometimes from a linux desktop)
In terms of Hangouts, I'm not sure I see how it would help, but I'm willing to try if everyone else wants to. I always have a hangouts tab open already for other stuff.

MorkXII |

We used it last summer when we played a game on the forums, and I thought it was helpful for a couple of reasons. The main reason is notifications. It can really speed up gameplay, by notifying everyone when they are needed. Even something as simple as "Can I use a blessing?" can get answered in minutes instead of hours.
The second reason was that after a while we started using it have real-time discussions on strategy. It might not be as necessary for this campaign (the special we played had some special rules that made it helpful), but it still might be a nice option.

Kyra #274929-1002 |

I have two things I've been meaning to ask you all about:
What would you think about using something like a Google Hangouts group chat to let everyone know when you're finished your turn? The intention would NOT be to pressure you into taking your turn sooner, but just to let you know that you COULD take your turn. I think this would be especially helpful when someone encounters a barrier that summons monsters for everyone, when we need to temp close locations, or if you need me to summon a card from the box. I know that for myself, I could easily post more often, I just never know that something has changed unless I'm constantly refreshing the page. In fact, this might actually save me time, since I won't have to constantly refresh the page. :)
I have built a Character/Deck Tracker application that could be used instead of the spreadsheet, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in trying it. It has a few more features than the spreadsheet does, but it is a Windows-only application at this time. If anyone is interested, let me know. I'll get it set up for your character deck and make it available through dropbox or something. (Sample Screenshot)
1. I wouldn't mind giving the hangouts (Or telegram which i prefer) a shot if people want. Though to be clear both my hangouts and telegram chats are generally muted anyway
Just as an FYI I use an RSS reader called Inoreader. it is available for free but has some extra features behind a paywall. I have the paid version for a few of my other PBF games. I use a "boosted" feed of our game so it checks for posts every 10 minutes. Anyone else using inoreader would benefit from the boosted feed. You can then use a free account to set up a simple rule to mark posts as read if you're the author. It's been pretty effective in letting me know about posts in a timely manner though the downside is that it does rely on Paizo forums/RSS to be kept up. Especially at start of our AD1 Paizo forums were very hit or miss but RSS was completely dead for routinely half the day. No issues past few weeks, though obviously Hangouts/telegram would have less downtime issues
2. I'm somewhat interested in trying the application, though I wouldn't be able to test it out until I am back from my business trip. I normally work from home and could use it on my personal PC but on my work PC I wouldn't be able to use it. I think long term use I'd probably prefer to continue using the spreadsheet since it is more mobile friendly and I know there will be enough times over the course of a scenario where I don't have immediate access to a computer. I had also considered building an application to track things more easily but between being busy and liking the mobile friendliness of the spreadsheet I haven't done anything with that yet

MorkXII |

I keep thinking that a web based app (perhaps with MySQL backend) for keeping track of card decks might be the way to go. MySQL, Apache, and PHP could probably make it quite simple if someone has all the needed skills.
Agreed, and I might get to that at some point. But I'm primarily a Windows developer, and I originally built this for myself and wanted to get it done as quickly as possible.

![]() |

Hangouts or some such would be good. Especially when the next humble bundle hits the site.
Also tempted by the tracker option I will give it a try

MorkXII |

OK, lets give hangouts a try then. Please send me a Private Message with the email address you want to use (it might have to be a gmail account? not sure) and I'll create the group.
For the Windows-based deck tracker, I'm still working on getting it set up. While setting it up for Reta, I found a couple of little bugs that need to be ironed out first. I'll let you know when it's ready for you to try.

It's going to be very interesting to see how this scenario plays out. :-D
It took me a bit longer for me to set up than I thought, and I made a couple little mistakes (2 cards from character decks didn't end up in the shuffle, so they automatically got left in their owners' decks). But for the most part, everyone seems to have a fairly playable deck, except maybe redeux/Kyra. :)
It would be almost impossible for someone without a database/programming background to set this scenario up in the Scenario Manager though. I made a few tweaks to the program in order to get it set up properly.
I'm definitely not complaining though - I'm glad and excited we're doing it! I need to stop top-decking all the henchman though - if they breeze through it in 12 turns, I'm going to be a little annoyed. :)

But for the most part, everyone seems to have a fairly playable deck, except maybe redeux/Kyra. :)
It would be almost impossible for someone without a database/programming background to set this scenario up in the Scenario Manager though. I made a few tweaks to the program in order to get it set up properly.

I like this one! The gimmick is fun and flavorful, unlike the last scenario. The only other way I could see this being set up without a programming background is to do it manually with physical cards/proxies and then transcribe it in by hand. It would be a nightmare.

As part of the OutPost event, every player has a chance to win Pathfinder Society (PFS) or Starfinder Society (SFS) RPG Boons. Unfortunately, there aren't any ACG boons at this time, but you can at least get an RPG boon (hopefully you play the RPG, or you might be able to trade it for an ACG boon at some point - I've been told there is a place in the forums set up for trading).
Every ACG player earns a chance to win a boon for every two scenarios they complete during the event. You'll roll a d20, and if you roll a 1 or 20, you'll win a random boon. If you win and would like a PFS boon, roll a d4 to determine which one you get. If you want a SFS boon, roll a d2. I will report any winners with their boon(s) and email address and at some point after the event, the boon will be sent to your email. If you would like more info about the PFS/SFS boons before choosing, let me know.
Since we've played 6 scenarios so far during OutPost, everyone can roll 3 d20s. We'll roll once more after the final scenario in adventure 6. Good luck!
