[ACG Playtest] The Sarkorian Prophecy (Inactive)

Game Master RainyDayNinja

When a novice Pathfinder in the Grand Lodge of Absalom discovers an account of a long lost prophecy which may hold the key to defeating the Shadow Lodge, a team of brave agents heads into the heart of the Worldwound to recover the document. Not only do the forces of the Abyss and the demon-tainted environment stand in their way, but so does a rival team of Pathfinders set on recovering the Sarkorian Prophecy first.

"Toss me the end of the rope and we can all pull together." The big man says, acting like the proverbial anchor. He does his best to assist the others if they link up with him. The trouble to link up slowed him down in the storm, and it was a bit more weight than he was used to. His blood began to boil a bit with the lady's encouragement, but he didn't feel overwhelmed by any bloodlust as of now.

I'm not sure that's good enough to spot quicksand. If not, Alcibie will try to find another way by walking along the side of the barrow everyone's currently gathered beside. The entrance may have collapsed, but if the whole thing hasn't subsided that looks like a good sign. I'll wait the results of my Survival check before moving my token on Roll20, though.

Oh, and a belated happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating it this weekend!

You can see that the quicksand reaches almost to the first barrow on your left; anyone could get by hugging the edge. Map updated to show the edge of the quicksand. Once you point it out, the others will be able to see the difference. Also, that Strength check is good enough to pull you up and out of the quicksand.

Okay sorry if I caused any confusion, my question still hasn't been answered about my last turn so I do not know what I will do this turn. To save on further confusion, are these barrows in the sense of ancient tombs or are they a pile of rocks? As my actions are currently assuming the former and I didn't get any answer about if I reached the entrance or if I need to move further to get there.

I hope I'm not being too officious, GM, but I think I can answer this one.
They are burial mounds, but the entrances to most of them have collapsed - only the one with the visible doorway on the map is accessible, and at the moment Kasei and I are nearest to it. It's about 6 squares up and 3 to the left from our current positions; I put a green cross in the entrance.

I'm going to go ahead and call this encounter. Everyone's out of the quicksand, and there's 4 turns left for you to get into the barrow before the tornado hits. Moving on.

This long-emptied barrow seems strangely devoid of the Abyssal taint that was so potent beyond the cave’s entrance. A dim lamp illuminates a small chamber at the end of the narrow tunnel, exposing a meager bedroll, scraps of devoured carrion, and a bucket of fetid water.

A malnourished and injured woman in battered and tarnished gold and blue armor leans against a wall inside.

"Who goes there?"

All the same, she's not about to deny her curiosity, morbid as it might be, though she tries to be gentle and friendly, under the circumstances.

"Well, Illayna, we're not too far from safety, though I can't say I blame you for worrying, especially once you were alone. Is the weather always this foul? I'm not sure what can be done about your mission, but ours, I'm afraid, will be taking us a bit deeper in, once the storm lets up."

He knew his companions, at least by reputation, but he didn't know her and he didn't make friends easily. If anything, his past had told him that things weren't always what they seemed.

He spoke up. "I doubt any of us will get a good night's rest in this place, but we've nothing else to do until this storm lets up."

Soon after Lorkov speaks, the howling wind picks up, along with the scrape of sand against the outer walls. However, after a few minutes, it all dies down, and the wind seems to cease.

Chara plonks herself down near the lamp. "So shall we light a fire? We don't want to get cold now do we?" She seems content enough to stay here a night, she is a little disappointed that they only just got to the worldwound and they already have to rest a night.

I would roll survival but low wis and no skill ranks in it.

The storm lets up though Chara doesn't seem convinced. "So that storm just suddenly vanished? I am not one for understanding much of nature but doesn't that just mean we've hit the eye of a storm? Won't it come back soon after?"
