Game Master GamerAim

In an 1800s-themed fantasy world that's forgotten its roots, you hunt undead, aberrations, monsters of all sorts. The public has to be kept in the dark, but whether under contract or going by your gut, you do everything in your power to keep them safe - whether they know it or not.

NOTICE
Could everyone please make a post in the discussion thread as your character alias (after you've made a character, if you've yet to) with your character's name, race, class (all, including archetypes) and alignment, as well as how often you think you can post (assuming you aren't waiting on other people to post), if you're open to using Unchained rules, and your familiarity with Supernatural, the Witcher and the X-Files? It'll help for optimizing the selection for each table.

One post each, please! Keep all discussion/questions either here or in PM. If you think something else is important to add in your post, include it in a spoiler. Thank you.

Why:
I've seen like 20 people interested and can run two groups of 6 at most, so it'd help to have a neat list with all the relevant info on each player and character. It'll also help combine players with compatible characters, rules openness and media familiarity.

Female Elf Magus (Eldritch Archer, Kensai) 5 / Fighter (Lore Warden) 1 | HP 40/40 | AC: 21, T: 19, FF: 12| Fort: +5, Ref: +5, Will: +5 | BAB: +4, CMB: +5, CMD: 23, R.Attack +10 [2d10+1]| Init: +3 | Perception: +12 | Arcane Pool 7/7

Name: Racine Meweli
Race: Elf
Class: Magus (Eldritch Archer, Kensai) 4/Fighter (Lore Warden) 1
Alignment: Neutral Good
Frequency of posting: Every day barring unforeseen circumstances.
Unchained Rules: Love them.
Lore: Watched several episodes of Supernatural, never got far into the plot but know the setting. Played the Witcher games. Watched first season of X-Files. Slightly unrelated, but the setting also reminds me of the Dresden Files.

Male Human Sorcerer 2

Name: Thomas McFaddy
Race: Human
Class: Sorcerer (False/Razmiran Priest) 5
Alignment: Neutral
Frequency: 1/day at the least.
Unchained: Ambivalent, but it does rebalance rogues somewhat.
Supernatural: Watched up until the whole Leviathan thing. I really dug the first 5 seasons or so, especially the non-storyline episodes where the boys just found and killed a monster of the week.
Witcher: PC upgrade costs has thus far still kept me from playing 3, but I played the first two and have read all the books I can get (I think some are still only in Polish)
X-Files: It was before my time, and I'm not a big fan of David Duchovny anyway. Didn't like Californication either.

Name: Lalavonvrei "Lala" Longstrider
Race: Elf
Class: Musket Master Gunslinger 5
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Frequency of posting: At least once every day or two, more if things go smoothly.
Unchained Rules: Most of them are brilliant. I have a hard time thinking of any off the top of my head that were lackluster or unappealing. I especially like Background Skills and the Magic Item alternatives, since I love my skill points and would rather my CHARACTER be amazing rather than the gear they use.
Lore: I have neither watched nor played any of the listed content, though I don't really see that hindering my ability to appreciate the game. I've watched or read other bits of media with similar themes of secret monster hunters, a loosely related example being the SCP universe and its various files of anomalous entities.

Angry, Insecure Potential 1/5

Background coming soon.

Name: Minerva Locke Graves
Race: Human
Class: Investigator (Psychic Empiricist) 5
Alignment: Neutral Good
Frequency: 1/day at least
Unchained: Yes, please
Lore: I love Witcher, watched a few episodes of Supernatural, and got to the point in X-Files just before the writers lost their collective minds.

Race: Dusk Elf
Class: Investigator (Steel Hound) L5
Alignment: Lawful Good
Frequency: 1+/day [Note I can post a lot]
Unchained: Yes, [Intimidate skill]
Lore: All the X-files, Sapphire and Steel [ooc]Trust me you will love the show. Some of Witcher, Supernatural was ok to S2, Lost Room was fun, where house 13 fun. Torchwood fun, sleepy-hollow fun. Mad Doctor who fan. The kind of them all Twin-Peaks, and evil dead. "Hail to the king baby". I liked the old Bluebook show. Children_of_the_Stones great show. I love Lovecarft and DM COC, I know sandy perterson from old, so love anything he dose. I could list a whole load more but you get the idea. :)

I am using the 10 min background and then will add to that GM if that is ok.

10 min background:

Step1: Write five things about your character’s concept and background, five things that you think are the most essential parts of your character. You don’t have to stop at five, if you like…this is just a minimum.

1)
2)
3)
4)
5)

Step 2: List two goals for the character that you, as a player, think would be cool to see accomplished in-game. During any session in which you take positive action to achieve that goal, I will award you an action point that can only be used in scenes furthering that goal. These Action Points are separate from the action points you gain by resting and reaching milestones. You can change goals later, though you lose all the accumulated Action Points for the goal you abandoned.

1)
2)

Step 3: List two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises!

1)[Known]
2)[Unknown]

Step 4: Describe three people that are tied to the character though blood, romance or honor. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. All can do something useful for you, if you can get the situations to line up. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.[ooc]

1)[Friendly]
2)[Friendly]
3)[Hostile]

Describe three memories that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor.

1)
2)
3)

Male Human Warpriest 1 | HP 14/14 | AC 17, touch 11, FF 16, CMD 14 | Fort +4, Ref +1, Will +4 | Init +2, Perception +2

Name: Leon Hatcher
Race: Human
Class: Gunslinger (Pistolero) 2/Inquisitor (Preacher) 3
Alignment: Neutral Good (Although Lawful Neutral feels more fitting in some ways, so that may change.)
Frequency: Should be 1/day at least on weekdays, and I can post on most weekends as well.
Unchained Rules: Hells yes, although some more than others. Particularly the Automatic Bonus Progression (maybe with some minor fixes) and Background Skills feel appropriate for this game. A lot of the others are neat additions as well.
Lore: I'm familiar with all of these, although not intimately so. I've seen episodes of Supernatural here and there, and know several people who like the show a lot so I've heard a good deal about it. X-Files is a little less grounded, but I know the general principle of the show, the themes and all, and I did see the one movie (I think it was the one people generally don't like). As far as the Witcher, I'm a bigger fan of the lore than the games themselves; I tried playing Witcher II on Xbox but the control scheme was really awkward, and I don't have a PC that can run good games. That said, I've checked out the lore of the Witcher, the games as well as the books, and it's really neat stuff.

Male Human Vigilante (Warlock) 5 | HP: 33/33 | AC: 17 | Touch: 12 | FF: 15 | Fort: +2 | Ref: +6 | Will: +3 | Init: +2

I've built a vigilante, which makes me, essentially, two characters in one. As such, I've made two aliases, which will represent my two identities. This will be my vigilante identity.

Name: The Mysterious Mr. Crane
Race: Human

M Human Hedgewitch (Entropic Sage) 5

(gotta clean up the alias still, but the bones are there)

Name: Harkell Greenbeard
Race: Human
Class: Hedgewitch (Entropic Sage) 5
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Frequency: At least 1/day, i typically check the boards much more often than that if one of my games has a lot going on. If the game doesn't have new posts, I tend not to look at it unless I know it has been a few days. If it is moving slowly, I'll prod it a few times. But, if after many prods and no one is doing anything, I'll stop checking in very often.
Unchained Rules: Haven't used them often, but I have read them and they seem OK. I could go either way and it wouldn't bother me. I do really like the background skills and skill unlocks.
Lore:
Supernatural - i know it by reputation but have never watched it.
Witcher - I have played 1 and 2, not 3. I remember the general stuff but not specifics.
X-Files - I watched many seasons as a kid (parents were into it) but it has been a decade and some change since then.

I dig the Unchained rules at least the Background Skills variant!
I have played every Witcher game, read every Witcher novel, and watched every episode of Supernatural more than once. I'm much less familiar with X-Files.

Unchanined I built assuming we are using background skills since everyone seemed to like that, I can change if we don't use it.

Lore
Supernatural: Very well versed, big fan.
Witcher: Never played, not much of a gamer. All my gaming is Table top and PbP
X-Files: None, never watched it.

Frequency Multiple times per day

I like Unchained and would love to use the Unchained Rogue especially since I'm not using archetypes. I also like Background Skills as well as Unlocks. That said, I'm fine with a mix & match approach - using some but not all of the Unchained stuff.

Lore
Supernatural: I haven't seen every episode but I like it.
Witcher: Played it a few times and found it fun.
X-Files: Watched the whole series and loved it.

Just so everyone knows, it seems I accidentally mentioned Harkell in the post and he thought he's in this game. Ignore his post :)

To clarify: the people in this game are Lala, Frank, Caedus, Racine, and Stormraven's character. Once again, I apologize for the rocky start with Harkell's confusion and Minerva's departure.

Stuff happens, it's all fine.

OK, Doc Long is finished aside from some minor bits (selecting some additional languages, etc.) and making his character sheet pretty. I'll work on his backstory first.

I haven't been able to make the in-depth reply that I need to, but if I don't tonight, then I will tomorrow! Stay tuned for plot.

Hey all, hope no one takes offense to Frank and his don't give a F&%k attitude. He is a hole lot of Sam and Dean from supernatural on attitude and personality. With a bunch of macho bull S&^#t in there as well. My goal is to not be disruptive but to play someone kind of real as far as holy crap these crazy monsters exist an no one knows. I hope it is different and refreshing. Keep up the good post. :)

As a player, I don't take issue, play as you want. I can understand hedonistic, egotistic characters, played a few myself. However, don't be surprised if Racine gets fed up at a certain point. And remember that party cohesion is a shared duty, not a "put up with all I do, don't break up the party" card.

Re: Remora

GA, obviously Cassandra knows what we do and who we fight... but do Beth and the other girls?

No, the other girls do not know. Look forward to a new post tomorrow.

I'm going to go ahead and make a post, but for future reference, I'd like to know how everyone feels about me making checks I know need made, like perception or knowledge checks and the like? It might save time, but I know some players who strongly object to the practice.

HP 22 | AC/T/FF 17/17/14 | CMD 20 | F/R/W +1/+7/+8 | Init +3; PER +12 |

No objection from me. I'm good with you making checks and rolls (Perception, Initiative, reactionary saves on round 1, etc.) as needed.

Frank's efforts meant that only about 12 people saw the body, and half of those skimped anyway. What spell is it? Someone could try to distract the remaining people or otherwise convince them to leave the room.

Get her angry, push her buttons (she loathes drugs) and now Racine may not be suited for field work? Come on, Frank ;) she's likely the least tactful person on the team, but you'll find a flower hiding behind a prickly shell...

HP 22 | AC/T/FF 17/17/14 | CMD 20 | F/R/W +1/+7/+8 | Init +3; PER +12 |

Thanks for trying to back my play, Frank. Unfortunately, we're gonna have to change tactics. I PM'ed GA and we agreed that my spell couldn't be done quietly enough to avoid alerting the masses, so we're gonna have to try something else.

Although if we could steal the corpse later that might be fun. :)

Silver Crusade

The room should be cleared either way. A speak with dead spell could give us a good bit of info here. So stealing the corpse after it has been bagged and tagged may be the easiest way to go. Or just have the spell prepared and break into wherever the bodies are kept and use it without stealing the body. Either way.

Don't worry about Franks thought Racine, he has mental notes on all of you.

Back!
I could prep Speak With Dead later. 10 minute cast time so we'd need time.

Now that Caedus is back, I will write a post.

I believe the letters are the Pigtown Kings' PK. We may implicate them, but it's unlikely that the police would help us much. I'd just shrug. Then I say we track, interrogate, and possibly shoot the Kings in the face.

Racine is correct.

HP 22 | AC/T/FF 17/17/14 | CMD 20 | F/R/W +1/+7/+8 | Init +3; PER +12 |

Ah, OK. Well, I don't mind feeding the PK's to the cops... but if we don't finger them, we might be able to get a bit more cooperation from them if we are going to track down who was using this place for occult stuff and what their goals were.

Also, we won't have cops around to take issue with what we do and how we do it. I'm not saying I vote for gratuitous violence, but I vote for gratuitous violence.

If you do give them to the cops you should wait till Frank leaves with the girls and do it after so you don't betray them since they are friends or not.
