For those of you who are interested
Feast of Sigils.
Seven participants are necessary. A knife and a cup with magical ink is passed around. You must cut your hand and add a drop of blood to the cup. The cup is swirled as words are spoken (they didn't give us the words) and then a rune is painted on a wafer in front of you. Each rune is slightly different. The spell draws a portion of the participants soul into the wafer. And drains 2 points from a randomly selected ability score. This damage is permanent and cannot be restored save by eating your own wafer.
If you eat your own wafer, you're totally restored, if you eat someone else's wafer you receive a +2 profane bonus to a single ability score of your choice. You can eat as many wafers as you want, if you're an NPC, if you're a Player, you get to eat 1 other than your own. Each wafer affects a different ability score, so Drollis couldn't eat a doze wafers and buff all his abilities up to insane levels. The bonus lasts for 1 calendar year, outside of game.

K, Drollis will roll against Charm.
You need a 3 or lower on his dice, 3 times.
Will 1d20+13
Looks like first time's the.....
Sunglasses on.
CHARM YEAAAAAAAAAH.
He unveils all the secrets of the Sigil Feast and tells you exactly how to do it, because you're all best friends.
Then Lini cuts his throat.
You mean my Nat. 20/skill 31 diplomacy was not good enough?
Deneb |
So tempting.... Deneb will work to return as many wafers as he can to their owners. But in the end I am sure there are some left... He would become CN, which is still one step away from Desna and an allowed alignment for her worship. So I do not think he would have to get an atonement, correct? And to not eat one would waste part of someone's soul, right? lol. Reaching?

The most your 30 can move a hostile creature is 1 step to unfriendly.. He wouldnt even answer questions at unfriendly..
Deneb |
While I agree that is the actual mechanic, usually there is a DC assigned to each mission. Diplomacy might not have been the skill needed though. Mostly I would like a response to my action, even if it is not successful.
P33J |
Technically because you guys went in the back way, you sort of lost your opportunity to complete your mission, which I felt was foolish as it only allows for 1 right way, for the party to complete the encounter and let everyone at least get an opportunity to try their mission.
But once you killed the Cleric, you had no way of convincing the Dwarf to talk, save charm or dominate. So I decided that if you guys tried to magically coerce him and succeeded, cause lets be honest, his will was so high you were going to have a heck of time dominating him/charming him. That I would let you fulfill your mission that way.
A little GM fiat, which I know isn't necessarily kosher, but I didn't figure you guys would complain too much.
BTW, I have a CG Barbarian worshipper of Gorum who is totally eating the Wafer, I'm actually GMing all the Season 4 special boons with him and applying them to him, but I'm slow playing him through the higher tiers so that I still spend as much in consumables. The problem with the boons for my other character is that he's a lawful good fighter who has tried and failed his whole life to be a paladin (intentionally) so I couldn't ever accept the boons with him because the boons disgust him.

I am going to eat the wafer on my level 1 druid as soon as possible, in all honesty. a +2 bonus to wis for my little gnome is just what the doctor ordered.
Deneb |
Still in debate with myself - I think as a good character I need to turn down the opportunity, unless I am willing to not be good any more. Hard to decide. If OK, I'd like to run it by some friends in my home group and see what they think.

Wait so you can eat the wafer and then pay for a atonement and keep the +2 bonus? Seems like you would loose the bonus if your alignment shifted back.. If not than this is a insanely cheap wish and quigly would prob eat one for my barb thats getting this bump..
Quigly Cobblepots |
Can you eat more than one wafer to shift 2 and get +4? And then get your attonement back to neutral?
P33J |
Rules for the Wafer :D
1. You can only eat 1 wafer. You chose the ability score to modify by +2.
2. Eating the wafer is a significant evil act and immediately moves your Good-Evil Alignment 1 step toward evil. So Good Characters become Neutral, Neutral Characters become Evil.
3. If your alignment shift makes you Evil, if it results in a loss of divine powers you must pay for an atonment spell.
4. If your alignment shift is evil, and there is no penalty to your characters powers, your atonement spell is 4 PP or 3000g.
5. If your alignment shift results in your loss of Divine Powers, your atonement spell is 8PP or (I would have to look up the costs in gold).
6. YOU MUST RECONCILE YOUR ATONEMENT BEFORE YOUR NEXT SCENARIO.
7. Your Profane bonus lasts for 1 calendar year from the date you apply it to your character. If you are currently in tier with your character, that bonus begins on the date I sign on your chronicle sheet. If you are playing a pregen, that bonus lasts from the day you level into the right tier (Tier 7-8). At the end of 1 Calendar year ooc, your bonus disappears.
8. Atoning for your evil act, does not remove the profane bonus.
9. There may be repercussions down the road in other scenarios involving Lissalla and the Runelords, don't say I didn't warn you ;)
So I'll ask one more time and then during my lunch break today I will fill out the chronicle sheets (nothing like pressure)
Do you want to eat the wafer?
Quigly Cobblepots |
Pass as well.. If it was perma perma then i would prob do it.. Lasting a year neg..

So Mr. GM, Sir, I have a question.
At GenCon, I got a boon that requires me to first make a Knowledge (local) or Diplomacy check once per scenario when I am in a large city.
Are you willing to let me do that? It doesn't require your signature, just your GM's number.
In a similar vein, what about Day Job rolls? Can we do those?
Thanks,
