Norman Dragon Rider |
With the dire rat distracting the assassin, Norman tries to get up so that he can retrieve his weapon, calling over "Throw me morning star over here so I can hit this man! You know, they weren't Pathfinders, let's get them." He raises his hands, attempts to strike the man with his fists.
Dire Rat bite 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Damage 1d4 ⇒ 1
Norman unarmed attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 Damage 1d2 ⇒ 1 non-lethal
AoOs against Norman are possible.
GM Rutseg |
Yes, it was intended for Bolger, sorry. As Bolger is higher in the initiative and posted earlier, the AoO will go for him. No remaining AoO for Norman.
Bolger I think your AC is not properly calculated, your Dex bonus is +4 so you have 15 AC without the armor instead of 14.
Norman, the rat does not hit, but remember to add the +1 damage from the smite as these enemies are evil.
The thug stabs his dagger in Bolger's breast as he stands up from the mattress. Bolger runs then behind Ketill, expecting to get to his things once the tiefling moves out leaving some space.
AoO Bolger stand up: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 4 = 15
Piercing: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Concealment check: 1d100 ⇒ 53
Norman tries to hit hard the thug with his naked fists, but unused as he is, he just manage to give him a soft hit in his head. The thug blinks just a moment and continue fighting.
The first thug attacks the rat that has disabled his mate sticking his dagger in the animal's back. The rodent, badly injured, starts bleeding considerably and any further action may injury it permanently. Rat is disabled, any Standard action will make it inconcious
Dagger rat: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Piercing: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Concealment check: 1d100 ⇒ 38
The disabled thug moves to the room entrance and opens the door.
Finally, the third thug attacks the tiefling as he picks up his alchemical weapons. The dagger hits Ketill at his unarmored belly, going deep into his guts.
Dagger rat: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21
Piercing: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Concealment check: 1d100 ⇒ 44
He then draws a club in his hand, "You decided to disturb the wrong people Pathfinders. Why you had to go with all those pesky questions? Die!!!"
Thug A 1non-lethal damage
Bolger -6hp
Rat -5hp disabled
Ketill -5hp
Round 2:
Bolger, Norman, Rufus, Ketill, Foes
Norman Dragon Rider |
Norman, feeling very threatened by the man, tries to hit him again. He shouts and screams out loudly, "Don't think you can mess with me, Orik and the Pathfinders!!" With the air full of desperate noise, the rat tries to bite the thug in front of him, the thugs that threatens his friend who called him to this plane. As he does this, the rat goes limp and slumps to the floor, with a final squeal.
Norman is eligable for an AoO from thug in front of him.
Norman unarmed attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 Damage 1d2 ⇒ 2 non-lethal
Dire Rat bite 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 Damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM Rutseg |
As Norman tries to hit the thug, this one takes advantage of the event slashing Norman's arm. A considerable wound appears in his right arm spilling blood over the bed.
AoO Norman: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Piercing: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Concealment check: 1d100 ⇒ 59
Even then the gnome's fist connects true and hits the thug which gets stunned enough for the rat to bite him in a last sacrificed service. The thug fells inconcious to the floor due to his massive wounds.
At same time the rat dissappears with a pitiful "Chiiiiic!", was that a bye friend?
Ketill |
"You die first" Ketill says in a disturbing tone of voice as his tail retrieves a tiny vial from his pouch. His leathery wings slowly unfold as he shakes the vial violently. Moving sideways he throws the vial at the nearest bandit.
Bang! + point blank shot: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 = 25
with a loud EXPLOSION the thug is engulfed in flames.
Fire Damage: 1d6 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 = 10
Splash Damage, range 10' DC 15 for half damage: 1 + 5 + 1 = 7
Explosive bomb, precise bomb, excluding 4 allies. Targeted to get all enemies in spash. The thug who got it on him is on fire.
I have issues with the map atm (lousy connection), Ketill will eat an AoO for better positioning and to get the best effect out of it.
GM Rutseg |
The explosion takes the thug unprepared. The strong hit drops him to the floor were he catches fire dying between the flames of his cloths.
The courtines closing the windows and some of the furniture catch fire as well, and though you can control the flames with ease, the black marks of the deflagration are clear around.
COMBAT IS OVER
Norman Dragon Rider |
As Norman see the thugs all lying unconscious or dead as the flames engulf them, he cannot stop himself for gleefully stating, "We told you not to mess with us, we are victorious, we are Pathfinders!" Then the realization of the pain from his wound sweeps over him, and in sudden shock he calls out, "I've been hit, help me! Where's Seinto? I'm sure he said he could heal us."
GM Rutseg |
As you get a look in the conference room outside, you find the body of the thug who was trying to fly away lying on the floor, and Rufus sitting over him totally naked. "What's going on there? You make a lot of noise, I don't know how Seinto and Otis manage to sleep so deeply."
Ketill |
"Norman, get over here" Ketill orders as he rummages through his stuff. A moment later he waves a wand and touches it lightly against Norman's wounds
Cure Light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
While Norman's wounds heal Ketill also applies the wand to himself.
Cure Light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The Tiefling gets his naginata and straps his pouch on. He then moves to the hallway
"Rufus, good to see that you are allright, let's go and find Seinto and Otis"
GM Rutseg |
When you enter the other room you find Seinto and Orik totally unconcious.
It seems they have been intoxicated by Amber Lotus Powder:
Type poison, ingested; Save Fortitude DC 12
Onset 1d4 hours; Frequency 1/minute for 2 minutes
Initial Efect unconsciousness for 1 minute; Secondary
Efect unconsciousness for 2d4 hours; Cure 1 save
If your check was 15+ you know how to make them concious, oherwise you will have to wait for 2d4 - 1 ⇒ (4, 1) - 1 = 4 hours until they wake up.
Norman Dragon Rider |
As the dwarfs cheeks turn from pink to a deep red as he slumbers, it must be Otis Reddning... who needs a little tenderness...to wake him up!
Norman's face is full of surprise as Ketill touches him with a stick and his bleeding arm closes up and the stinging pain removed. "Golly, I never knew you had such powers, how wonderful you have a healing stick." His eyes are wide with gratitude, "Thank you....thank you."
Newly recovered, he starts out into the corridor and along to the room where Ketill has led the way looking for the others. They lie lifeless on the floor, "Are they dead?" the gnome asks with deepening apprehension and growing fear that this adventure might take a turn for the worse. "I wish Donneld was here." he says in a melancholic tone.
Ketill |
"Sure Bolger, no problem"
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Heal take 10: 10 + 5 = 15
Ketill takes the neccesary actions to wake Orik / Otis and Seinto.
"Wake up you fools! We have been attacked by those would-be Pathfinders."
Norman Dragon Rider |
"Thanks to Ketill," the gnome starts excitedly, having seen both the others wake under Ketill's attention. "He used his healing stick on me, and I thought only you Seinto had such powers." He pulls at Seito's sleeve, "Come look, see the men that fell. It truly was a fierce fight, with them falling to the magic and blows from us. Now you are OK, we should find out who they really were?" He tries to pull the cleric to the bodies of the fake pathfinders, but this time he starts to go through their clothes and possessions to discover more about them.
If Seito goes with Norman, Norman tells him the story of the fight, making out how Ketill and Bolger are heroes of the highest order.
Norman Perception seaching the bodies and equipment of the fake pathfinders. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Orik Fistbreaker |
"Oooogghhh," says Orik as he wakens from the drug induced sleep. "Was dreamin' o' dwarf lasses wit' their beards a'shaved. Aye, lads! Nex' time doon't bae in sooch an all-fired hurry tae wake mae oop, eh?"
Orik shakes his head clearing away the visions of his dreams and the cobwebs. "Soo 'em false Pathfin'ers drooged us an' set upoon us while wae were a'dozin' eh? Right tricky bastards, yae ask mae. Let's set oon 'em then, an' shoow 'em how wae handle tricky bastards in t'Soociety!"
He gathers up his arms and armor from the chest and begins layering it back on, readying for battle against any more of their "hosts".
Seinto |
Seinto follows Norman to the other room, nodding at his words. When the gnome finds the wayfinders he raises his eyebrow.
"They do have Wayfinders... this is quite extrange..." He then cast Detect Magic and search the bodies too.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Ketill |
Ketill also equips his armor. He leaves the robe in his backpack, allowing everyone to see his wings and tail.
"Really strange indeed, I say we explore this entire lodge and see what we can unearth."
Norman Dragon Rider |
Norman thinks all the imposters are dead, but no-one has checked that is true, just saying....
"Do those wayfinders work, can we use them. Not got mine from the lodge yet, perhaps I could borrow one." Norman asks the others, They should be able to add some light to help us in the search, or some Jameli my tutor said." He tries to make the wayfinder cast light before joining the search of the house.
GM Rutseg |
Just tell me where do you move, what do you try, provide me with perception rolls and I will tell you what do you find out and open doors for you if they are not locked. For now this is what you find in this floor (I have opened all doors here for you)
This floor seems to be composed by a conference Room, furnished only with a large round conference table and accompanying chairs; three bedrooms providing modest sleeping quarters, each containing a bed, a writing area, and a wooden chest for storage; and a storage room (in southeast) where a set of shelves holds linens, soap, buckets, clean bedpans, and similar household supplies are found. Shoved into the far corner of the sotore place is a water barrel.
The southern section of the first floor has some stairs bringing you back to the main floor.
Ketill |
Ketill rummages through all the chests and desk to search for anything strange
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Wow, that was a string of bad rolls!
"I find nothing here, let's check downstairs."
Norman Dragon Rider |
Norman takes one of the wayfinders and fiddles with until he get the light working. "I mean, they won't be needing it now will they."
Now with a bit more light available, Norman takes his time searching the conference room, Taking a 20 for 21 on perception. Once he gets to the bedrooms, he seems a little less interested in the bedrooms, but can't help being a little curious. Takes a 10 on the bedroom for 11 perception. The storeroom is a different matter, so any interesting things and a water barrel to splash some refreshing water over his face. Detect magic and take a 20 on perception for 21.
GM Rutseg |
You register thoroughly the first floor. While Ketill and Seinto are almost finished in their area, Norman surprises everybody with a big shout on finding a lot of stuff hidden inside the otherwise empty water barrel.
You find several valuable oil paintings, an ivory and silver candelabra, silk bed sheets, and a sack containing an assortment of semi-valuable jewelry. All probably worthed around 500 gp. This do not seem to be typical objects saved by pathfinders.
Ketill |
It was Bedroom 3, but apparently the others took more time ;-)
"More proof that they were not legitimate Pathfinders. Those ruffians probably stole this stuff and hid it here. Things are looking grimmer by the minute"
Ketill heads downstairs.
GM Rutseg |
As Ketill goes downstairs he in a dinning room where a long, oval table serves as the room’s centerpiece. High-backed wooden chairs surround the
table, while two china cabinets flank the entrance. The kitchen door to his right is open. Light from the stove pours out while a teapot is noisily boiling inside. Further in front of Ketill is the hall where you were received.
Ketill |
Ketill waits for his fellow Pathfinders before venturing into the kitchen.
Norman Dragon Rider |
Norman looks around, "Where's Ketill gone?" he asks, before hearing footsteps making there way downstairs. "Come on then folks, best catch up with Ketill, before he gets himself into trouble." The gnome skips downstairs to join the tiefling.
"Oh do you hear that, the kettles boiling... lets go get a nice hot drink!" he exclaims and starts towards the kitchen. Then abruptly turns round, and in hushed tones says to Ketill "Oh, best wait for the others then? Might be .... difficult...um unsafe in there?"
GM Rutseg |
This well-stocked kitchen centers on a large cobblestone hearth. Its walls are lined with prep counters. Stowed behind the free-standing hearth is a row of wooden water barrels.
Two other doors open here to a store room and the backhouse corridor.
A teapot is steaming in the fire.
Ketill |
Ketill takes some tongs and removes the teapot from the fire. He then checks the store room for anything out of the ordinary
Perception Take 20: 20 + 5 = 25
GM Rutseg |
This pantry contains bags of four, canned goods, and small barrels of potatoes, onions, beets, and apples. Its contents lie in disarray; blood-stained piles of four create pink smears on the foor that lead to the northern wall, which holds a shelf mostly containing broken spice jars.
Ketill starts moving away bags and canned goods while others look. He continues like that for a while, but attacted by the floor in the floor, he goes directly for that northern wall. After moving the spice rack over there, he reveals what seems a secret door. After losing the latch over there, he finds a staircase leading down.
Secret door revealed in the battlemap
Seinto |
"Good work, Ketill. Let's explore that secret staircase, maybe we can find some answers there"
Seinto moves to the front of the group and starts going down, when the shield and the sword ready.
Ketill |
"Sure thing Seinto, let's investigate this cellar"
Ketill waits for Orik to go down and then follows.
