Iso looks up
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Not sure about the DC here...
Opening his pack Iso takes out the climbing gear he purchased earlier and starts to rope people up.
With +9 Iso can easily make it up, and auto aid anyone who needs help, but with ropes the DC is typically only 5
"Iso Loves the Smell of Fresh Air" he cries into the wind. Unfortunately Iso's rear end may have removed the freshness from the air for those behind him.

"We may be facing opposition. Let me hand out some protection." Johann will take a few minutes to brew a couple Shield extracts, and give one to Iso, one to Kyra, and one to Fenrik. "These will last about 8 minutes after you drink them." He also gives an extract of Enlarge Person to Iso. "You look like you'd appreciate being even bigger than you are, my malodorous friend."
Iso Soturi
|
"Mal...ode..us" thinks Iso.
"Oh... Johann means Mastodon. Iso has seen them, but never ridden one. Maybe one day Iso will ride one. Even Iso is not so big as Mastodon though."
| Kyra Soulkeeper |
Kyra will accept the extract gladly, and also the help of the rope "You both are brilliant. Let's see this done!"

Iso is more than happy to give Kyra a hand. A couple of bits of wildlife may make a break for freedom while he does so though.
"Ahh, now this is Scaling the Dragon. A tale to tell all my children of. When I have children."
He looks around the group hopefully and puts a big grin on his face.
"It is true. Iso is Brilliant." he adds modestly.

Fenrik also uses the rope system already established...

Enora pulls out her wand of cure light wounds and taps herself a couple of times, fully healing herself.
"Well, that was most unpleasant," she says as she puts her wand away, and knocks the remaining snow off of her clothes.
Climb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Enora then climbs up with the others.

Great, my post got eaten...
Iso climbs the last incline and lowers a rope so everybody else can climb up more easily. The Maw is shrouded in fog when you arrive. Near the top of the slope, a broad plateau wraps around the mountain. Near the middle of the plateau rises a squat, 30-foot-square stone rostrum, upon which stand four columns of dark gray stone. One of the columns is broken and lies half-buried in the nearby drifts of snow. In the center of the rostrum rests a five-foot-tall beehive-shaped nest built of ice and cairn stones seemingly frozen around a clutch of eight massive bluish-gray speckled eggs, each the size of a brandy cask.
Clear visibility is about 60 feet, with an additional 30 feet counting as 50% concealment and anything after that as 100% concealment.
You find a dozens of footprints left by an oversized barefooted humanoid. There are possibly more than one, but less than favorable weather conditions make it too difficult to be certain.

"These aren't animals, I don't think, unless they're very large apes. They look almost like yeti prints, and I saw some creatures that looked like yeti before the avalanche happened. But as I was saying before, I've never heard of yeti in Avistan. I thought they were unique to Tian Xia."

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
He does point out the creatures.
"But Iso sees Beastmen. Iso thinks they beast men. Iso kill beastmen? Or Iso look for bones?"
He looks at the eggs "Bones hide in eggs? Iso thinks dragon might live here. Iso thinks eggs make very big ommlette."

"Iso wonders if Driver Johann knows what kind of dragon makes eggs like that?" says Iso pointing.
He looks up at the sky, a degree of excitement in his eyes.
" If dragon comes. Johann give Iso potion to fly again?"
Iso Soturi
|
"Iso has long longs. Good at Running too."
He looks a little sad.
"Iso has never seen a Real Dragon before."
He grabs one of the picks and heads towards the cairn.
"Iso wonders if we should remove eggs first. Dragon eggs may be worth much money..."

"Shall we pick up the eggs then?" she checks around not really convinced by the situation.

"Hey guys, just a thought, but... do we really have to be here now?" Enora asks after Johann shares which animal the eggs are from.
"Can't we just let those ape creatures and these eggs be, and move on to where the bones are? I really see no reason to pick a fight we can avoid, or to steal eggs from oversized insects."
Fenrik Wolfblade
|
"As much as i like thieving I agree with lil Endora here. If we take the eggs or bother the hairy ones, and I do not mean you Iso, then we paint a target on our backs for revenge. If it is absolutely necessary then fine, but if not then I saw we bypass."

Iso points to the plateau. There is a 30-foot-square stone rostrum, upon which stand four columns of dark gray stone. One of the columns is broken and lies half-buried in the nearby drifts of snow.
"Is that not where we need to go?"
| Enora - pregen |
"Can we not get there while avoiding the apes?" Enora asks, looking for a way to the cairn that doesn't involve encountering the ape creatures.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

"Iso has eyes like the eagle, and cannot see ape men, around cain itself."
He hefts a pick.
"Iso think we must dig up bones!"
And assuming that Johan mentions the eggs are remorhaz ones...
"Iso not know about ReeMoreHaz. Iso wonders if that name for Ice Dragon mountain is named for."
Want to tell us how to hurt them, and how to avoid being hurt by them?
GM Baerlie
|
I think for a 33 I'd know more than just the name and what they look like!
You asked about the eggs, not the creatures ;)
Johann knows that Remorhaz are immune to fire and cold. They burry themselves in the snow and surprise approaching creatures. The Remorhaz' bodies are extremely hot, everybody close to it gets burnt if he's not swallowed hole before that. no DR, reach 15 ft, bite attack, no weaknesses
Any more questions?
Direct or stealthy? If you want to dig up the bones you have to get rid of the taers.
Johann Erlenmeyer
|
"Those eggs look like those of Rhemorhaz, not dragons. They're great, centipede-like monsters that live in the snow and ambush their prey. They are immune to both fire and cold, so that makes my bombs less effective. Getting close to them will burn you."
"I could fly and bomb the taer from a distance."
Iso Soturi
|
"Iso thinks that doesn't sound very sporting. Iso also thinks RemWhoreAss.." he tries to pronounce the word, and fails again. "sound unsporting. How will Iso get close to hit with axe?" he shakes his head.
"With Speed!"
The player however thinks bombing from on high sounds like a fine idea. Fighting a Remorhaz and the Taer at the same time sounds painful.
Fenrik Wolfblade

"Wont the bombs alert the Rhemorhaz to our presence? Keep those bombs for the last ditch fight."
