Query re postage costs

I'd like to buy Dynasties and Demogogues in the sale, but its showing postage costs of 30 dollars to the UK for one book.

I know postage costs have gone up, but that seems like a very high amount. Is it correct?

I also looked at taking advantage of the reduced price stuff from Atlas Games, I selected items with a combined cost of $16, then went to checkout and the postage was shown as $47+. I am sorry Paizo, its not worth it to me to pay 3 times the value of the items as postage. Is there not some lower cost, but slower method or transportation you could offer?

Well, packaging from the United States is always quite expensive, but I didn't think it was that expensive. To get around that, I ordered enough books until I thought that the P&P wasn't too expensive!

Looks like you must have been looking at Priority Mail, which would have been $29.85. If you had selected standard shipping, it would have been $9.72. (This book is now sold out, by the way.)

Yes and no. There is a lower cost option, but not if you want it shipped together. The weight limit for low-cost standard shipping is 4 pounds; above that weight, the only choice for international postage is International Priority Mail. Right now, including the box and packaging material, the stuff in your cart comes to more than 6 pounds, so you're only offered the Priority price.

If you split your items into two packages, it will likely cost significantly less. (We plan to automate splitting to save on shipping in the future, but it's not done yet.)

Also, using "value of the items" when you're considering postage costs isn't really an appropriate metric. First of all, you're talking about products that have been heavily discounted. So while your stuff is on sale for $16 now, the original MSRP of the books in your cart was $74.75. Paying $47 to ship $16 worth of stuff might indeed seem high, but paying $47 to ship $74 worth of stuff sure sounds a lot less bad.

More importantly, though, shipping is based on weight, not cost, so even though we're selling it to you for less, it doesn't cost us any less to mail it to you.

Lisa tells me we might be getting 5 more copies soon....

So, as usual, its my fault :)

Thanks for the prompt response, and I'll choose the correct shipping method when it finally comes in.
