Tar Pool advice

Advice

I have two questions about this spell I'm looking on advice for. The spell mentions "A creature that falls prone in the area takes a –4 penalty on its Reflex save against the tar and on Strength and Escape Artist checks to escape the tar." How does one fall prone again? Do you have to miss the reflex save by a certain number?

And secondly how would you optimally use this spell? Would you combo it with another spell?

It appears that the spell itself doesn't knock creatures prone, so you'd have to combine it with some other effect. I suggest toppling magic missile. Possibly quickened.

Or a really sadistic fighter with a reach weapon that does trip.

For a druid what would you use instead of magic missile?

Or would a wall of thorns work while the Sirocco hits them round after round?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Sirocco's a pretty good sub, if expensive. If you can land all three spells then your non-flying enemies are gonna have a bad day.

I guess wouldn't even need tar Pool, could just wall of thorns and Sirocco and call it a day.
