Best way to use Animate Dead + Bonethrall (Gravewalker Witch)

Advice

Looking for some fun ways to use Animate Dead and Bonethrall as a Gravewalker archetype Witch. Which undead minions are fun to have in your entourage? And what should I start lvl 1 with?

I made some suggestions in your other thread before I noticed this one. Something I didn't mention was that you should consider ways to store, hide or conceal your undead if you're going places where they might be frowned upon. You should check with your GM as to what skills would be necessary for embalming fleshy undead (alchemy maybe) and creating disguises. The spells flesh puppet and flesh puppet horde could be useful here.

The bone thrall ability lets you control undead from first level onward. What you get depends on what you encounter. Ideally you want creature with claws, bite etc. I find the best minions/pets/companions etc. are the ones that don't slow down combat or prevent your teammates getting their turns in a reasonable time frame. So it's imperative that you're organised, efficient and know what you're doing on your turn before it comes around. You might be better of having 1 or 2 more powerful minions (e.g. necrocrafts) than lots of weaker ones. If you have a lot of minions I would typically consider not sending them all at once directly into combat (unless your party is cool with it) e.g. if I had 6 skeleton minions I'd send 2 directly into combat and declare that the other 4 guard me, ready to attack any enemies that get close.

Oh and you should totally take the unnatural lust spell.

Can my Aura of Desecration be concealed as well? I would imagine this aura would be unquestionably evil, and if I went into town somewhere, I would stick out like a sore thumb even without a small army of zombies and undead following me around.

Flesh puppets would work really well I think, what's the benefit of unnatural lust? It makes you kiss/caress someone for 1 round?

I presume the aura is kind of like a paladin aura so it would only be visible to divinitory magics. Use unnatural lust to send them into the loving embrace of your undead.

That's awesome :D

Or, I could cause quite the scandal by making the mayor become unnaturally enamored with someone other than his wife :D

You could always use mundane disguise methods. Armor/clothing that completely covers the skin and face, along with perfume. It was always sufficient for me.

"His name is bob, he's my personal body guard and he's a mute."

NPCs don't tend to question you, so long as you give them a plausible explanation.

Once you start having lots of undead, 3.0 had an amazing magic item called the minion's coffin. Basically a coffin sized bag of holding specifically for carrying around undead minons/corpses. Intelligent undead didn't like being cooped up in an extra dimensional space, but the rest didn't care. My character had a carriage with one of these strapped to the top. Let me travel with my undead entourage without drawing attention to myself or them, since I just looked like some kind of undertaker.

Excellent idea :D
