Cost of holy water from temples dedicated to non-good deities?

Scarab Sages

As per the CRB, cost of holy water is:

Quote:
Temples to good deities sell holy water at cost (making no profit). Holy water is made using the bless water spell.

Typically, things have a price of twice their cost. It's probably pretty rare to not have a temple of a good deity in a town of modest size.

Silver Crusade

It's still the same price, unless the GM wants to add a little mark-up for it. Personally, she may not be good, but I see clerics of Pharasma being VERY eager to make Holy Water to deal with the abominations of her faith.

Actually, strictly speaking, the normal cost of Holy Water is 35 gp, because they are a 1st level spellcaster, casting a 1st level spell, with a 25 gp material component.

And when there is money to be made, why wouldn't a priest of abadar not step in?

If there are others selling it at cost, then there isn't any money to be made.

Anyone church that didn't have a big beef against the undead would probably not be in the business of producing holy water, since there is no way they can make any money if others are willing to essentially give it away.

Hmmm. I suppose the rules for purchasing spellcasting services could apply regarding the cost of holy water in neutral and evil churches, and when purchasing from non-religious organizations.

A. Abadar is LN. So he isn't a 'good' god. This isn't a charity (or where there is charity, it is done for social reform to turn those people into productive workers).

B. I'd imagine supply and demand comes into the picture. It is 35 vs. 25, if I am to trust Val up there. That is less than a 50% mark up. If there aren't enough good priests in the area willing to do it on the cheap, then people will gladly turn towards a slightly more expensive source for their evil killing acid. And since they are charging for profit, then they can afford to ship the stuff out to a wider area. You are more likely going to see the master of civilization creating a production line of "AquaSanctus- bottled holy water".
