dumb character turned hilarious how to make it better

Advice

ok story time a short while back the ass-hole of our group (every group has one) was laying into telling me that swashbucklers are waste of characters and that duel wielders are pointless (this is the kinda ass-hole that believes a martial character needs to be sword and board or two handed or you suck) so getting sick of his dumb ass, i decided to combine the swashbuckler with duel wielding and he rightly pointed out that the precise strike deed is the main source of damage for the swashbuckler and i cant use my off had while using precise strike and laughed at me, so i just smirked and next game came in with this lvl 3 character

human swashbuckler lvl 3

traits indomitable faith, and old heirloom weapon.

feats lvl 1 weapon focus barbazu beard, slashing grace barbazu beard.
feats lvl 3 two weapon fighting

one hand with a rapier and my beard together allows me to two weapon fight while still adding precise strike dmg to both attacks.

and behold the character that i mad as a joke.

that was 5 lvls ago and my character is the only left alive despite taking atks of opportunities evry time i atk and he has become an official legacy character (one that we referance all the time) and now he has.

feats lvl 4 weapon focus cutlass
feats lvl 5 slashing grace cutlass
feats lvl 7 iron will
feats lvl 8 improved two weapon fighting

what do i do from here? i had no plans for this character now he has spiraled out of control lol

Slashing grace does not work when fighting with more than one weapon.

And the beard counts as an off-hand weapon, and precise strike won't work either.

Featlist looks solid.

You've lasted till level 8 as a Swashbuckler without getting insta-gibbed by a fortitude save? That alone is fairly impressive.

At any rate, as EvilMinion pointed out your character is illegal in multiple ways. So. There you go.

You do not gain this benefit while fighting with two weapons or using flurry of blows, or any time another hand is otherwise occupied.

precise strike does work because: To use this deed, a swashbuckler cannot attack with a weapon in her other hand or use a shield other than a buckler. my other hand is not being used for anything but a buckler.
we house ruled slashing grace the same because the wording is any time another hand is otherwise occupied this was brought up because of a character that was made with slashing grace before the nerfs were inplimented.

not instagibbed but almost got screwed a few times actually barelly saved vs mummy rot

The beard is using a rules hand, even if it isn't using a literal hand. There was an FAQ ruling a while back dealing with armor spikes that applies here.

You are paraphrasing.

The exact wording is of import
Slashing Grace: "You do not gain this benefit while fighting with two weapons"

Precise Strike: "To use this deed, a swashbuckler cannot attack with a weapon in her off hand"
Barbazu Beard: "A barbazu beard can be used as an off-hand weapon"

Whether its in your hand is not relevant, for either ability.
If you're using two or more weapons (wherever they are) slashing grace does not function. If you're using an off-hand weapon (which the barbazu beard is) precise strike does not work.

If you've house ruled around the stuff, that's fine. But straight up, not so much.

I find it odd you went this direction to prove dual-wielding is strong, when a Brawler/Eldritch Guardian Fighter that dual-wields cesti is one of the strongest martial characters in the game.

Now this I'm curious to see.

I believe the intent was to prove that both TWF-ing AND Swashbucklers are strong/usable by making a dual-wielding Swashbuckler. Not prove one or the other is strong.

No Escape+Stand Still (a hyper-boosted version of the feat even) makes it truly impossible to get out of the Fighter's threatened area for anyone without an Su teleport ability. Combine that with Coordinated Charge from EG's battle crab familiar and the good will save and you have yourself a Fighter that is extremely difficult for most enemies to deal with.

You can do all of this in heavy armor too and with skill points to spare, by the way, since you can qualify for TWF feats with your intelligence rather than your dexterity using Artful Dodge.

Liberty's Edge

What happened with my character is that the GM and I agreed the errata was stupid and left Slashing Grace as it was. (Not PFS Legal, but fine for a home game)

So, I took weapon prof. sawtooth sabers, weapon focus, slashing grace, a level in Swashbuckler, the rest as a Two- Weapon Warrior. Astronomical # of feats, but very effective character.
