"I try to harvest the grain!"

*Rolls 1*

"You miss the grain, and instead harvest corn."

Intense.

Um...yeah it is commoners we are talking about here...

Also I think you are failing to see what you can do with this...

1) Somebody stealing the harvest...

2) Keeping the harvest from a corrupt and evil nobleman.

3) Think of all the RP of getting a good price for the harvest and the RP at the local festival.

There are a ton of things you can do with Harvest Time with put a little imagination.

I actually like the ideas you're posting, sorry if I seemed too sarcastic.

5. Adventuring School. Party starts as commoners, but over time you give them extra abilities and stats, until they are a first level adventuring party.

this could be quite an adventure, considering what happened in the range wars irl.

I considered this for my home brew, bUT the number of players willing to sit through the NPC years is quite small.

On that theme:

5a. The Grand Lodge, the three years before your confirmation.
5b. The Acadamae, cue "That school of magic"

We interrupt this to tell you the Traveling Circus is in town:

6. Travelling tricksters; you're a family of varisians traveling as a caravan. Will the next village fall to your con, or will they be on to you . . .

7. The Gold Rush; you heard there was gold to be had in them hills, you (and a whole lot of others) though there's a way to get rich quick, just pan for gold out of the rivers.
8. The wild "West"; just moved out here to settle new land, get a fresh start,
History is full of idea's to relive/spin off, groups of commoners trying settle, go new places (admittedly lead by a full-class character, but hey this is about those who followed).

9: Team up to slay the vile gophers that ravage the farmlands.

10: Festival in a week's time. Can you win the square-dance competition?

11: Dart game at the tavern

Is 'harvest time' sort of like 'bullet time' - a stop motion panning around a farmer swinging a scythe, etc.

Liberty's Edge

12. Long ago, when the world was formed, the great gods waged a most terrible war. In the end, after eons of reality-destroying warfare, the gods of our world won out, and the Destroyer, Ulroos Malroos, was sealed away in an extradimensional prison, never to be seen again.

Unfortunately, time wears away at all things. Relations between the nations of L'Spada and the Drakkhen Reich are breaking down, threatening to drag the mainland into a destructive war. A great plague is sweeping through Bulungi and Ricersi. Even the Istorian Empire is starting to show signs of military buildup.

And, there are rumors that the seal on the Ulroos Malroos's prison is starting to crack...

Istoria needs heroes.

Unfortunately for you, you are not those heroes, and those are not your quests. YOUR quest is to go to the wizard's tower an hour's walk outside town and clean his toilets.

13. The Other Guys

The real heroes marched forward bold as can be, and were destroyed by the Dark Evil Bad Dude. With no real heroes left to turn to, its the Other Guys turn to step up to the plate.

I remember this as a Droopy Dog cartoon...

14. The Forgotten (I guess a corollary to #13)

A party of powerful adventurers came through and either succeeded or failed at their mission, now you have to deal with the repercussions of their actions....

14a. Players: Nodwick?! What is the henchman from our last TPK party still doing here?
GM: You guys had over 3 months of provisions along with everything else in that chest of holding you left him guarding. He's been sitting here and eating them.
Players: Sit tight Nodwick. We're going to kill the evil priest and be right back.
Nodwick: Right. I've heard that before.

The rancher says

and then the cow stands up and says, "sheep, ya derned fool."

Make your way on to Middenheim, get angry about taxes, party at a carnival while solving the tax thing, realize the tax thing is a plot to take over the city by the cult of the purple hand, thwart their plans with thrilling cliff via duct battle against an evil wizard. Get made Knights!

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead

The group slowly realise they're background characters in an Undead themed adventure and struggle to avoid being killed by rampaging heroes or the collection of horrors that inexplicitly all seem to live in the same small hamlet in the shadow of the baron's castle...
