Tracking spells?

Are there any spells that allow you to enchant an item, or cast on an item that will allow you to track that item magically over great distances?

I'm not picky if it's Pathfinder or 3.5 D&D/OGL. I would just prefer to see if there is one before I try to create one.

Scrying and Greater Scrying could do it if you house rule that it tracks items as well as creatures

Edit: Or Symbol of Scrying cast on the item

Track Ship would be a good place to start. Sure, you probably want to track something else, but if you want to create a spell you migt base it off this.

Find the Path is more powerful, more general, amd of course much higher level.

I would just use track ship and locate object as a base. Go from there.
