Large Whip Range

Rules Questions

Hi all!

I am getting ready to jump into a campaign as a noble member of House Belmont, that is, beating the crap out of evil with a magic whip. i understand the as is, medium sized creature with a whip, rules but i am a little fuzzy about what happens if the character gets enlarged. Is the range for a whip on a large sized creature 30ft? If i pick up all the Whip Mastery feats the threaten natural reach +5 ft threatened part doesnt change to natural reach +10 ft for an enlarged character, correct?

Thanks everyone!

Which feats?

Whip Mastery
Improved Whip Mastery
Greater Whip Mastery

Specifically Improved Whip Mastery has this line in it, "While wielding a whip, you threaten the area of your natural reach plus 5 feet." So normal reading of the rules apply, you could be as big as a Kaiju but still only threaten natural reach plus 5 feet with this feet even if at Colossal size you would have a 75 foot long whip.

You are correct that enlarging does not change the +5 ft threaten range aspect of the feat. However, remember that natural threaten range changes with size. At large, Natural Reach is 10ft. At Colossal, it is 30ft. This means Improved Whip Mastery provides a Medium Creature 10ft of threatening, a Large creature with 15ft of threatening, and a Colossal with 35ft.

As for the weapon size/reach, I do believe you get reach and a half, meaning at Large, you reach out to 30ft with the whip, and at Colossal, it is 75ft. This is, however, conjecture, and not supported by specific rules.

Thanks, thats about what i was thinking. The +5 ft is still fun to play with. table variation it is for large whip sizes. I'll just ask before the game how he wants to rule it. That could get nasty though, imagine the GM through trip build giants at you with something like that... yeesh.

Lunge would also add to this I would imagine.
