There is a tremendous amount of being psyched going around! Looks like we should probably hit $30,000 sometime tomorrow, which would be pretty sweet for one week in! Keep spreading the news!

On a side note, will the idea of the Dark Tapestry play any factor in this? I am kind of hoping so as they were used to great effect in Iron Gods.
You may be aware, Kodyax, that I was responsible not only for a direct Iron Gods dose of the Dark Tapestry, I also wrote the support article on the Dominion of the Black in Pathfinder #88 and had notable DT elements in both the Dragon's Demand and Pyramid of the Sky Pharaoh ...

I'm sure that has absolutely nothing to do with why I called 'dibs' like 3 seconds after the Kickstarter started (okay, okay, more like 25 minutes ... but it was as soon as I saw it :)

(I'm taking a break from Rappan Athuk to run my group through Valley of the Brain Collectors. I don't think they're going to be happy campers.)

I was curious, is Earth part of the Legendary Planet campaign setting? I know we can easily add it to it as GMs but I was curious if you guys added it in any official capacity.

If Galactica: 1980 leaves no other legacy, it should be that of the pitfalls of trying to fit Mundane Earth into any Heroic RPG game setting.

Modern and Mundane Earth, sure.

The 1860s-1930s Heroic Earth that most pulps and planetary romances rely on? Should be just fine. Especially now that we have Occult Adventures for the proper flavor of "spellcasting" classes. :D

It does present some interesting possibilities for Indiana Jones, Doc Savage, The Shadow, etc.-type adventures.

Guys, it's a new page! There needs to be a new link to the Legendary Planet Kickstarter!

We're at 29,808 with more than a month left. Onwards to completing Confederates of the Shattered Zone.

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

We crossed the $30K mark today. So, that puts a 10-page bestiary into Chapter 4, but there are still more goals ahead of us. The march across the multiverse continues...

Can you please explain what you mean by "unlock" the various adventures?

For example, "At $28,000 we will unlock Adventure #4, Confederates of the Shattered Zone!"

What does that mean?

RPG Superstar 2009, Contributor

If you visit our Kickstarter page, you can see that our basic funding goal was just $6K...and that would allow us to publish both the prequel adventure (40 pages of content) and Chapter 1 of the Adventure Path (64 pages of content). Thereafter, with each additional $2K, we've been "unlocking" various bonus/stretch goals to allow us to add more content. With the next three bonus goals we increase each chapter from 64 pages to 96 pages (with a 10-page bestiary, 10-page gazetteer, and 12-pages of supporting articles). But the $2K intervals keep going from there. So, at $12K, we "unlocked" the first 64 pages of Chapter 2 in the Adventure Path. Then, the additional $2K stretch goals allow us to add in the other 32 pages to bring them up to 96, as well. And so on.

Thus, at $28K, we "unlocked" Chapter 4, which is titled "Confederates of the Shattered Zone." And, we actually just crested the $30K threshold, so that means we added a 10-page bestiary on top of the base 64 pages of the adventure. We're currently working on reaching $32K, which will add another 10-page gazetteer to that chapter. And so on. Once we reach $58K, the entire 700-page Adventure Path will be funded. That's inclusive of the 40-page prequel adventure and all 7 chapters of the larger AP (with all of their individual bonus articles). The final product will take characters from 1st thru 20th level and lay the groundwork or a pretty epic storyline while also setting the stage for an eventual campaign setting we're calling Legendary Worlds.

Hope that helps explain, and please considering backing us if you haven't already...

--Neil

Sorry, no that does not answer the question that I was asking, which in re-reading my post was not clear.

I am backer #64, at $140. That says I get a PDF of all funded adventures. So if for some really dumb arse reason this only funds to $51,999 and not $52k then adventure #7 does not get done?

What if the Adventure Path doesn't fund all the way? Will you still complete the AP? Why should I pledge at the beginning of the campaign for the "full" AP if I don't know it will be completed?

-We are confident in the enthusiasm for this project and our fans to fund the full project and beyond, but this is always a risk.
-Yes, we will complete the AP. This is a great story waiting to be told. If all 7 issues do not fund completely through the Kickstarter, that just means it will take longer than expected. We will be able to complete all the elements funded through the Kickstarter on schedule, and any remaining portions will be completed as we are able.
-Pledging for the full AP at the start of the campaign is important because in the world of Kickstarter, nothing succeeds like success. It shows your enthusiasm for the project but it also opens up more and more content for the project. People who are interested but inclined to sit on the sidelines until they see a sweet deal will jump on board sooner if the project is growing fast. We want this thing to blast off like a rocket, and you jumping on board early is just the booster stage we need!

-FAQ section, emphasis mine.

Ah, thank you. Missed that in the FAQ section.

Ok Jason and the rest of the LG team, I just kicked you over 30k! Good luck with the rest!

Yay! We kicked over the line this morning, then somebody dropped their pledge and we slid back and you came to the rescue! VIVA VALANTRIX1!

For anyone who has to drop a pledge, we understand. Things happen and gaming is luxury purchase. Hopefully anyone who has to drop will be able to hop back on between now and the end of the campaign.

The timing of this Kickstarter has been perfect for me: I get my salary twice before it finishes, so lots of opportunity for me to make sure I have the money available.

I try Jason, I try! Honestly though, your products are hands down the best out of all third party publishers, and I am proud to back you any time something like this comes along. I own almost everything you have ever done, with only a few exceptions. For reference, I am blind, but every time I read something you produce, I feel like I can see again. Your descriptions are hands down, some of the most mentally stimulating I have ever read. As long as your quality stays as awesome as it is already, I will continue to support your company beyond any other out there. You guys and gals rock! Simply put, thank you for making me lose myself in your work.

What an amazing testimonial. I'm very touched and appreciative that we are able to bring these fantasy worlds to life for you. Thanks so much for the kind words and the support with our past products, and we will endeavor as always to exceed your expectations with everything we make in the future!

Is the Assimilation Strain available for order for folks that missed the Kickstarter? Is there more background material anywhere?

Once we get To Worlds Unknown out the door, The Assimilation Strain will become available to the general public. That'll start with the PDF version of the adventure, and I believe Jason has plans on providing a print version, as well...possibly just as print-on-demand, but I know he wants print copies for PaizoCon, and hopefully GenCon, too, alongside eventual print copies of To Worlds Unknown.

As for folks who missed the Kickstarter still jumping on-board, it's possible Jason may still be taking PayPal orders if you want to do that. He left that open for awhile after the Kickstarter ended, and we even took some sign-ups at GenCon back in August. So, that might be an option for you, too.

And, lastly, there's definitely more background material available in the Players' Guide for the overall Legendary Planet Adventure Path. We've released that to Kickstarter backers already, as well. And, if you're able to get on-board for the full campaign as part of the Kickstarter fulfillment, that would be provided along with your copy of The Assimilation Strain.

Neil's current estimate for completion on editing and development of To Worlds Unknown is the 22nd of October, so once he's finished it's off to complete layout (which has already begun for the other parts of the book) and it'll be up and out the door to backers, which means The Assimilation Strain and the Legendary Planet Player's Guide will go on sale to everybody!

Should be ready to rock by the end of the month.

How is this AP coming along? Aside from the prequel, when will it be available to non-backers?

As I recall, they're planning to release each part to the public after the next part is delivered to backers. (So those who helped fund it get it early - a perk of backing.)

The release of the 5th Ed SRD slowed things down a bit, since I think they're reworking some stuff to make it better now that they have access to that. Part two is coming along nicely, and apparently the later parts are coming out nicely as well, so things should be chugging along steadily. ^^ It won't be TOO much longer before the first part of the AP is released to the public, and from there releases should be fairly regular.

Yep, Rednal has it right. We've also been getting a number of our high-end backers and their content-based rewards organized, but I think that's pretty well in hand. We should have a new update going out by next week.

Cool - I just signed up to your mailing list so I'll look for news there. :)

I finally get to play this AP starting Monday! Our d20pro online group is kicking off with part one. I can't wait to see the payoff of playing what should be a really fun adventure path.

Dark Archive

So now that Gencon is done and dusted any chance of an updated ETA on Scavanged Codex please?

Dark Archive

This week for sale perhaps?

They usually come out a mo-

...

*Checks the date in his email*

Actually, the end of this week would be a month exactly. Huh. XD Okay, then! Anyway, I wouldn't expect it any sooner than that. If they're settling down into a smoother release schedule, they may be planning to release parts to the public as the next chapter is sent to backers (as was the original plan, I think).

Dark Archive

So guessing not this week then?

Well that depends. Do you mean this week THIS week, or this week LAST week? :)
