Hungry barbarians (Animal Fury question)

Rules Questions

OK ... imagine a barbarian who took Animal Fury. She's raging, and even angrier because due to whatever reason her greatweapon is not in her hands anymore. When she hauls off and chomps her foe as her only attack ... would this be counted as a primary attack at full BAB with 1.5 x Strength bonus on damage?

The power itself talks about using it as part of a full attack at -5 but I'd rather avoid the gaming-the-systemness of 'Well, it's just a standard attack' and see if it's a primary natural attack or not.

The wording is wonky, but it shouldn't supersede the standard rules on Natural Attacks.

Bites are, by definition, Primary Natural Attacks.

When made as part of a Full Attack Action, they become Secondary, per the rules of Natural Attacks.

All the first half of Animal Fury is doing is reiterating the rules for how Primary Natural Attacks work when made in conjunction with Full Attacks that include non-Natural Weapons.

If a lv5 Barbarian swings with a Greatsword and their Bite, the Full Attack looks like this:

+5 (Greatsword), 2d6+[Str] / +0 (Bite), 1d4+[1/2 Str]

If the Barbarian makes a Bite Attack as his only attack, it's a Primary Attack and follows those rules, looking like:

+5 (Bite), 1d4+[Str]

Natural Attacks wrote:
If a creature has only one natural attack, it is always made using the creature’s full base attack bonus and adds 1-1/2 times the creature’s Strength bonus on damage rolls. This increase does not apply if the creature has multiple attacks but only takes one. If a creature has only one type of attack, but has multiple attacks per round, that attack is treated as a primary attack, regardless of its type.

You always have Unarmed Strike as a viable attack, even if you do not take it, so, no, you don't gain the 1.5x mod just for attacking with a Bite; you just gain the full Str for attacking with a Primary Attack alone.

Unarmed Strikes are categorized as light manufactured weapons. They are not Natural Attacks.

"This increase does not apply if the creature has multiple attacks but only takes one."

The wording does not state it, but it strongly suggests that it is referring to natural attacks.

If she only takes the bite it is primary at 1-1/2 strength for being the only natural attack.
