is there any build that can really make use of craft (trapmaking)

Advice

It seems like a fun skill but I wasn't sure if anything could specialize in it.

The Snare Setter Kobold rogue applies its sneak attack to the traps that it makes, the Trapper Ranger also specializes in making strong traps.

Uhm I have one build i guess...

Trapbreaker Alchemist, with 2 lvs in sometihng that gives rogue talents (off hand i likie shadow dancer). Thiis lets you sneak easier. use the rogue talent to get the one that lets you increase traps if you youreslf est it off with a swift action.
Then you can craft up tasty traps and turn your bombs into traps. basically layer traps you craft.

I haven't actually used it yet.....

In theory most gms would allow a trapper ranger to shoot most traps as well

Thanks guys, I'll read up on them.

through creativity, their is always a way, but trap builds relying on the craft traps skill generally run into financial issues as the instructions for non magical trap construction result in 2000 gold pit traps, and years spent digging them. The few premade traps that can be purchased as gear are somewhat over powered for their cost, bear traps being 2 gold, and rules as written, people don't get a perception check to spot them unless they are actively searching for traps. Using the premade traps, which you can craft in a reasonable amount of time, you can have an effective trap build only so often as you can prepare your battlefields in advance, which is not often for most groups. IF you have a party that is willing to work with you though, traps, caltrops, and other trap like objects can help you to make difficult encounters easy, almost as easy as if you had a wizard who was casting buff and battlefield control spells in combat rather than blasting, except the wizard option removes the need to prepare the battlefield in advance and reduces your reliance on stealth( a mechanic that as written, does not let jack be nimble eat a chicken dinner).

The better trapper builds tend to rely on magical traps.

One of my favorite but not very practical character builds is rogue 2, sorcerer 18, getting just enough rogue levels to get a rogue talent, specifically cunning trigger, and then going sorcerer and maxing out your explosive runes damage, using all of your left over spells at the end of the day to cast explosive runes, and using swift actions to blow up the premade bombs.

Even though that doesn't seem optimized, it looks like fun :)
