I would like to start a thread detailing the free stuff you can get in PFS (Pathfinder Society, for those few of you who don't know or recognize this abbreviation), with the Core Rulebook and Bestiary only, for players starting out. For instance, when I started, I wasn't aware of the Rise of the Runelords player's guide, the Curse of the Crimson Throne Player's Guide, or even the traits supplement.
Free stuff:
Pirate Familiars
Character traits
Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide
Curse of the Crimson Throne Player's Guide
Pathfinder Society Guide to Organized Play
Pharasma replacement domains (credit to Nefreet for pointing it out)
Any suggestions for improvement, feel free to pm me or post it below.
edit 1:please refer to the Additional Resources for what can and can't be used.
edit 2:added Pharasma replacement domains.
edit 3:gave Nefreet credit for pointing it out.
Also, would love for this to be stickied.

Add a couple other blog posts to the list:

Golarion Day: Other Gods and New Subdomains
Golarion Day: Subdomains for Everyone!

Not sure we need this thread to be stickied, though. All of it is already available on the Additional Resources page.

I discluded the two blog posts you posted because I don't think they are usable with only core rules and bestiary. Also, The additional resources is more in general, while I am speaking to new players with only the core rules.

edit 1: the first is usable. The second is not.

The Pirate Familiars aren't all Core, either.

Yes, but they're usable with core. Subdomains aren't. I hadn't noticed the part on Pharasma's domains in the first one. Thanks for pointing it out.

Yes, but they're usable with core.

Only the Mongoose, Osprey, Parrot, Toucan, Sea Krait, and Snail Kit.

Not the Dodo, Giant Isopod, Dwarf Caiman, Seal, or Marine Iguana.

Osprey is a familiar? Well, that might explain why he disappears every time combat starts.

nor are the replacement domains for void or Scalykind usable with only core rules. That doesn't mean I will exclude them, if there's something that can be used with core associated with them.

I'm not following.

Are you meaning for this thread to be posted in the Core Campaign forum?

Or do you mean options available for new players, who happen to own only the CRB and Bestiary?

Because if it's the first, then no blog, or player's guide, is legal.

And if it's the second, then not all of those Familiar choices are legal, either (because their stats are published in other sources).

Hopefully that explains my confusion.

If you'd just left it at "Here's free stuff you might not have known about", that's cool, and helpful. But I'm not sure what you mean when you say "core".

It's the second. Not all of them are legal, but those which are I won't exclude only because others of them are not. I'm only putting up URLs to them. I'm not able to exclude certain parts of them. If you would like, I can put in a thing detailing which parts of which supplements are legal, but to me it seems somewhat redundant to say "look at the additional resources page" and then tell you the info you need to know from the additional resources page.

edit 1:I can no longer edit the first post in the thread, so I will post it below.

Things which are legal for play from these sources if you have the right books, but which are not otherwise:

Dodo, Giant Isopod, Dwarf Caiman, Seal, or Marine Iguana familiars

Void and Scalykind subdomains

I'm not. Although I did have that problem earlier with the Pathfinder General Discussion forum. I just refreshed the page and it was back.

Ok. Yeah, probably just my dumb phone.

Is the Pharasma friendly Death domain stuff legal? There was no answer on the blog post.

Sczarni 5/5 5/55/5 ***

Everything linked thus far is listed as legal on the Additional Resources page.

Ok, thanks.
