now that content from familiar folio is legal, what are the rules for applying them to existing familiars. Does it follow the replacement rules? Betting it does but wanted to confirm.

I do not know if it helps, but I would imagine that it would be the same as when Animal Archives unlocked.

To apply any new feats or archetypes, the Druid (or -ish) had to release his AC and summon a replacement.

You couldn't retrain animal companions, because they don't have prestige.

For most familiars you should be able to catch and release for 200g, that is you let your familiar go and then re acquire another one.

There is a certain particular familiar that that may or may not work for though. And he may not be able to take an archetype at all. Campaiagn leadership will have to weigh in on that.

Also I am pretty sure archetypes don't stack on improved familiars do they?

I think there are a couple that don't require Speak With Animals, so they would work for an Improved Familiar. But yes, most of the archetypes won't work with Improved Familiars.

Emissary and Sage. I kind of like Emissary.
