Familiar Bond and Familiar Archetypes

Rules Questions

So, Familiar Bond gives you a familiar, but without a lot of the familiar abilites such as deliver touch spells, scry on familiar, share spells, speak with animals of its kind, and spell resistance special abilities. There is Improved Familiar Bond to gain these abilities, but it's basically impossible to get both of these feats at the same time.

Meanwhile familiar archetypes trade out many of these missing abilities, so can a Familiar Bond familiar take an archetype that trades out one of these abilities? Do they just not get the traded abilities? I'm assuming they don't just get a free ride of getting abilities without giving up something.

I don't think you can take the archetype if you don't have the ability to trade out.

Also meant to ask, "If you can't take an archetype with just Familiar Bond, are you able to pick up the archetype when you gain Improved Familiar Bond, since you are only then gaining those abilities?

I'd say yes, as now you'd have the abilities to trade out for the archetype.
