Eldritch claw explanation

Rules Questions

I have an awakened owl as an ally and in the process of leveling him up I cam across Eldritch Claw which gives it a silver and magic type added to its natural attack. My question is, what exactly this 'magic' bonus is. Is it a normal +1 attack/dmg roll or is it something else. It isn't very specific about what it does.

Scarab Sages

It counts as magic for the purpose of bypassing DR/magic. Certain enemies will reduce the damage they take from nonmagical weapons.

If you want to give him a +1 on attack and damage, you'll need to get him an Amulet of Mighty Fists (or cast Magic Fang on him). Both of these options will also make the talons count as magic for bypassing DR, in addition to allowing him to hit incorporeal creatures (dealing half damage, instead of no damage).

It makes count as magic for DR penetration, no bonus.

Yeah it only counts as magic for bypassing DR/magic.

So for example you still can't hit incorporeal creatures.
