Hi,
I intend to run #37 The Beggar's Pearl here on Paizo's messageboards as a Play-by-Post game.
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st to 7th level characters (Tiers: 1–2, 3–4, and 6–7).
When a thief arrives at the Pathfinder Lodge in Almas bearing stolen artifacts and writings pointing the way to a lost dwarven gallery, you are sent into the rugged Aspodell Mountains to find the famed dwarven explorer last known to be searching for the gallery as well as the gallery itself. Once there you find a tangled web of darklands creatures in the thrall of a charismatic cult leader with ties to the darkest shadows of the First Realm.
Since PbPs aren't in a hurry, I don't state a certain starting date. Instead, once there are three players joining, I'll give a week of extra time for additional players to join. I've run a few PbP games already, so I'm familiar about how to resolve combat and so forth.
I don't expect the players to be experienced in PbP games, but I suggest you look at other PbP games for examples on how to write out your posts.
Join the game by posting here, telling the vital statistics of your character (name, PFS number, faction). Of course, since this is going to happen on Paizo's messageboards, you need to use the alias in the game.
If you have any questions to ask, go ahead.

Hi there, I'm definitely up for this. I've never done a PbP before... or any PFS, but I've played a whole heck of a lot of Pathfinder (F2F and on G+). I was reading the PFS stuff in preparation for GenCon and saw the mention of PbP - could be perfect for my situation!
Anyway, not sure how much detail you want on the thread, but you can get to my character here:
Lort the Mighty (half-orc)
Level 1 Fighter
PFS # 135100
Faction: Grand Lodge
Lort will eventually become a fighter / cleric, and focuses on two-handed (greatsword) combat.
Anyway, tips and help on PbP would be much appreciated, I've had a read of this excellent guide: Doomed Hero's Guide to Play by Post Gaming, but could definitely stand to read more.

Wow...I can't believe I haven't played this one yet!
I'll throw Thadd Hawke's name into the ring. He's a 3rd level weapon master with more skills and a higher charisma than you'd expect to see in your typical fighter. He's actually quite full of himself! However if he winds up dragging the APL up to a tier that is uncomfortable for 1st level characters I'll gracefully withdraw my interest.
|
I'm not too worried about APL. If this game would end up going to the higher 3-4 subtier, then the going would only get a tad tougher. This is, after all, 1st season, and the scenarios don't tend to be that hard.
I haven't done any PbP on Paizo messageboards yet, so I'm a tad unfamiliar with the technical mechanics. I'll look into that this week. As of now I can't see Lort's skills or feats or any of that.

Wilmannator, there's an option in Hero Lab to output a statblock. Look in the file menu for "output hero statblock" and when the dialogue opens, switch to the BBCode tab, hit the "copy" button; there's now a decently formatted stat block - including all your skills - in your clipboard, which you can now just paste into the main section of the profile.
Edit: didn't see that you already had an alias set up with a profile.
Anything that you put in the Gender, Race, and Classes / Levels fields will show up on all of your posts in play by post threads. Most experienced PbP players use this to keep their vital stats visible at a glance. And many GMs will expect their players to do so.

It'd be good to present the characters now so I may audit them before the game starts.
I take it you were addressing the others here. Do please let me know if you want anything else from Lort. In case you missed it, there's a detailed character background in there (mostly fluff about his forefathers - he is, after all, only first level!).
Oh, and just a reminder in case you don't already know; I live in Europe, and thus because of the time difference I might not be able to respond quickly to things.
Fine by me. I will be posting during odd hours anyway. I'm a stay at home dad living in Houston (USA) and will likely be alternating between very prompt replies, and slower ones (depending on the time of day, and the state of my kids). I'll try for <24 hour responses, though - and will likely be much less than that during USA "awake hours".
I'll also ben in the UK and Spain for 2 weeks in early- to mid-July. I'll post at least every day (if I'm not flying that day... and even then...) and should be much more in line with your times!

Hi,
I'd like to join :)
This will be the first time that I heard of such a play method, so can someone direct me to a post/guide on the extra mechanics and rules please?
If there is anything else you need me to setup beforehand just let me know. For now, I'll try to emulate Elen Kozan's profile.

@Khalos, the two best guides I've found are:
Doomed Hero's Guide to PbP Read this first, awesome introduction. Don't miss his second post on that thread with some "advanced tips", too.
Painlord's further tips builds on Doomed Hero's work.
So, I say "best I've found", but since I've never played by PbP either, my judgement may be skewed a little. Enjoy the read anyway, I know I did.

Two questions... I am thinking about joining, but...
1) Is there still room?
2) What subtier is it looking like this will be in?I have the following available:
<GM Credit Baby> 2
Inquisitor (of Asmodeus) 4In the next few days I will likely have a Undine Watersinger (Bard) 1 available.
There is room, so welcome! You'd be the fifth player then. I personally would advice against bringing a 4th level character to trample over a meager 1st season scenario, which already tend to be ridiculously easy for fresh 1st-level characters. :)
I actually checked those guides and, well, to me after half a dozen PbP experiences all those points seem painfully obvious. :P

Yes, there just one spot left and now Edgar has taken that spot!
The current lineup is as follows:
Wilmannator's Lort the Mighty, Half-orc Fighter 1
Deane Beman's Thaddaeus Hawke, Human Fighter 3
Wicked Brew's Ozren, Human Oracle 1
DFang's Khalos Durasya, Half-elf Summoner 1
Mr Drink's Edgar McGowan, Dwarf Monk
So the team is lacking an arcane caster and a rogueish type. Skillwise the team lacks most knowledges (arcana and local are good).

Ok, I've pretty much decided what I am going to do for a character. He will be a human War Priest of Cayden Cailean. He is Sczarni, probably Varisian. I am expecting he grew up around Magnamar.
I'll get him statted out today or tomorrow. I'll also scan his chronicles (all GMs credit)' and make them available to you, along with his ITS.
That is about the best I can tell you right now.

I've now created a campaign page for #37 The Beggar's Pearl.
I do need to mention that I haven't used Paizo's messageboards as a PbP platform before, so some technical aspects might elude me. I hope you can join the campaign without my approval, since I found no "add player" button.
