Creative Morale Abuse

The recently released Peoples of the Sands player companion includes an interesting new trait.

Community Minded (Rahadoum): While some pray to the gods for mercy or prosperity, you follow a different tack—you believe in improving the lives of those around you through earnest labor and the efforts of you and your community. Your hard-earned discipline and the candor of your words affect all who bear witness. Any morale bonuses you confer upon your allies through your own abilities or spells last 2 additional rounds.

"Wait a minute," you might be saying, "isn't that just a souped-up version of Optimistic Gambler, which was already one of the best traits around?"

Yes and no, but yes.

2 rounds is slightly less desirable than 1d4, and you can't extend bonus granted by external sources, including your allies. Your allies, however, will receive extended buffs from *you*. And you have to be from Rahadoum, which I think we can all agree is a bonus. Most crucially, however, Community-Minded, unlike its predecessor, is PFS legal.

Advice Forum, how would you best take advantage of this wondrous boon?

There have already been a haversack of threads discussing Optimistic Gambler + Barbarian rage, and another on Touch of Rage. What are some more esoteric short-duration Morale bonuses that would benefit from this trait?

Say hello to Destructive Smite shenanigans, I suspect the trait may not last long in PFS.

Yeah, I meant to include that one in the original post as well. Plus, you're Rahadoumi, so divine casters are a bit of a clash.

Destructive Smite allows the Cleric to gain a morale bonus, not the cleric's allies.

Although, RAW, you count as your own ally, so this may still work, though I doubt it's intended.

[Edit] I think you might have meant the 8th level power, Destructive Aura?

Dark Archive

Nope, I meant Smite. As you mention, you always count as your own ally so a bonus to one attack, RAW, suddenly becomes one to all your attacks for 3 rounds. Silly yes, overpowered, absolutely, but it works. It's one of the reasons Optimistic Gambler isn't allowed in PFS because of the abuses extending morale bonuses can open up.

Triple the Inspire Courage duration per day? Oh hell yes.

Inspire Courage gives a morale bonus to saves against charm and feat effects and a competence bonus on attack and damage rolls.

I'm seeing a secret Rahadoumi worshiper of Sarenrae in my future, me thinks.

True. The Savage Skald bard archetype provides a few more short-duration morale bonuses, which could further stack with Inspire Courage. The new Skald class from the ACG playtest provides morale bonuses from Raging Song, though it's not quite as good as the Rage spells since it does impose a round of fatigue when the actual performance ends.

This is another divine class, but the Damnation Inquisition can give a +2 morale bonus on all rolls and checks for one round... to an evil creature, which makes it a bit trickier to use it PFS.

Blood Rage.

Grand Lodge

You do not need to be evil to choose the Damnation Inquisition.

It can even be thematically fitting.

Imagine any "fire and brimstone" Preacher you have ever met.

And you have to use the High Strung Evangelist voice.

"You ah sooooo gonna feel some wrath!"

Sure, tricky doesn't mean impossible--just gotta acquire an evil cohort of some description. Any restrictions on the alignment of animal companions?

More combos:

*Chevalier's Recklessness: Morale bonus to attack and damage equal to class level the round you enter combat. Might be a bit better if this 6 year-old PrC had more than 3 levels.

*ACG Warpriest's Nobility Blessing: "At 10th level, as a swift action you can inspire your allies to follow your lead. If you take an action on your turn, all allies within 30 feet who take the same action on their next turn gain a +4 morale bonus on the attack roll, skill check, ability check, or saving throw to complete that action." Another divine class, though.

Orc Bloodline 1st level ability Touch of Rage

Oh. Damn.

I've heard tell of a particularly intelligent otter that an individual who may be in charge of the pfs campaign travels with that might have eaten a few too many wafers while in the city of strangers. Of course, I can neither confirm nor deny this creature's explanation as the only legally evil pathfinder. Like licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop, the world may never know...
